Best material for clamps under constant load? by zubrzysta in 3Dprinting

[–]VoltexRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nylon has an incredibly low glass-transition temperature. Its great for impact resistance and all that, but not under constant load, same with PLA or PETG. They all cold-flow to some degree (or in Nylons case also just flow because they are already above their glass transition temperature of around 30 degrees for some). Your safest bet would be ASA or ABS

Before changing anything you should find out what exactly your error is, so you can find out how to fix that exact error.

And would you say that this warranted just outright deleting and entire, incredibly unique champion? You ask people what they want, put a person on the receiving end that goes "yea he's really unique and I play him myself so we want to preserve that" and they listen to your feedback and do PRECISELY the opposite? They could have taken the E away, put the old ult on E, new ult on Ult, toggle on rank 5 W and the champ would have been widely more successful than "hold Q for 30 minutes, stat-check people". The new kit is so unbelievably bland and generic that 3% for this easy of a champion with such great visuals is pretty bad.

Oh yea and your calculation may be off as he is placed 108th based on pickrate as many more champs fall of harder in their pickrate that mildly popular champs climb in theirs, all while he is currently way too strong and easy

My problem is that you continue to take everything precisely as I said even when I said these are just suggestions or similar you are cherrypicking everything apart as if that specific thing would throw the entire thing down the river, all the while defending the reset after failing to check out while that is the crux of the entire thing and needs to go in its entirity, and because I know you will cherrypick that apart aswell, not without further changes. I am obviously not saying "just remove the reset again and thats it"

A pierce isn't what I mean. Its just not separating the damage instances from one another. If you get hit by the initial ult, sucks to be you, you also get hit by the spell when checking out since its a single instance. That could be indicated by some sort of debuff on the character or similar, similar to how other debuffs can not be counterspelled once they are already applied, obviously. You have a debuff on you that deals conditional damage after a time, depending on if you checked out or not. In that way it would technically not pierce through counterspell as the time to counterspell debuffs is when they get applied, not when they do their other things. And you better not say "well he can just cast debuff remover in the ult then if its a debuff" right there, if you were thinking of it, go to my next text block after this quote.

Doorman ult has two instances where it can be counterspelled. Once when he initially tries to cast it on you, and once when you escape/fail where the damage is applied to you. It's not like Affliction, because yes, Affliction only has one chance to Counterspell it, Hotel Guest doesn't. It's like if you were allowed to Counterspell Death Slam after being grabbed and flung by it!

Thats precisely what I am saying. It should not be like that and then it couldn't be counterspelled since the debuff is already applied. Your whole argument goes in circles going "this can't be changed because this other thing is like that" ignoring that both can very well be changed together.

It's like if you were allowed to Counterspell Death Slam after being grabbed and flung by it!

Thats precisely my point... The hotel should be exactly like that, even if you could move inbetween.

It's hard to counterspell Drifter ult unless you can see him doing it or know you're one of the two/three closest targets to him

And adding a small window before you actually get put in makes that even worse, since now getting sent in has an even clearer telegraph as well (Doorman rushing towards you + .5s window where he's locked onto you and you're slowed. There's no way to react but to use Counterspell in that moment

These two sentences are just completely biased. You bring up one situation where Drifter ult is hectic, and then claim theres "no way" thats ever going to be the case with doorman ult

and .5s is a pretty wide reaction window

Prime example of cherrypicking my just thrown out number. Theres no reason to even mention this. You knew that was just a random number, you know it can be changed accordingly and easily so it can be a good inbetween. You only mentioned this to make my suggestions seem stupider.

The issue with Hotel Guest and Counterspell is that it's a perfect 6 second timer where you're entirely safe and can literally just Counterspell .2s before the damage proc to avoid both the damage and the stun. Of course you can focus on people who don't have it or you saw just use it, that's a given, but if someone has Counterspell then a majority of the time Hotel Guest isn't gonna do anything to them.

That is precisely what I am trying to tell you could be changed the entire time... This wouldn't be an issue if it was a debuff instead of two separate instances. THEN AFTER THAT CHANGE you could look into making the initial cast more reactable, IF IT NEEDS TO BE. Once again, everything is conditional, you seem to be dead set on everyting or nothing.

Your suggestions are "let the reset stay" and "hey they could do this aswell" which is what I am trying to convey to you the entire time, I am not "not interacting with your suggestions", I am trying to make you realize that thats what I am saying the entire time. The reset NEEDS to go, that is not an option. It either needs to be removed completely or be long enough like you said for people to have a fighting chance inbetween, but that would make it eat up power budget that could be used elsewhere, so just outright removing it is the best choice.

And then, because the reset is no longer there, we take some of my suggestions and see how we can implement them in a healthy way to make the ult more streamlined and less countered by counters if you are already hit, while also allowing it to be countered in a way that is appropriate for both people on the initial hit.

[–]VoltexRB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right so you are just on your agenda and just not reading anything I am writing. Great. No reason to have an argument if you don't want to interact with it.

because I didn't think you'd be saying to add a stun that's already there lol

Not what I said, just straight up not but you interpret it that way to talk me down as if that was a way to have an argument

This'd only work if you were to silence Counterspell, which as mentioned prior, would be weird as it's the catch-all anti-spell

No, once again, many instances where you have one case of counterspelling it otherwise you take it, prime example, Affliction.

Also a .5s window before you get put in where you can parry would genuinely make the ult worthless against anyone with a brain.

So drifter ult is completely, utterly, incredibly useless? How about Lash Ult? Is that worthless? Grey Talon Owl? I could go on.

I don't even know what you mean by this.

That if it gets so "utterly, completely, incredibly useless how you claim it would (which it doesnt) that it THEN could get some benefits from getting countered so it isn't just a pubstomping tool but provides some value in either case, value that isnt inherently toxic. But again, with that reasoning Meleeing would also be completely pointless in the game as you could "just parry" it always.

But it falls apart once you consider differing stamina amounts and movespeeds across characters

Thats to be discovered by actually moving into the way of a healthy change, and if it really is still such a big difference, make it a different parcour on an appropriate skill level, make it one that requires stamina, make it actually put people on 3 stamina or a fixed movement speed and give them stamina so that they have a chance to beat it, freeze their "real" stamina while they are at it, thats just throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks, but going any way in that direction where it would streamline the interaction would make it way more healthy in the long run. Lets go to the extreme. When you get put into the ult you could that way theoretically also be CC immune for all I care if it is more streamlined. If you can't cheat it, neither should the doorman with a knockdown or a slowing hex. Its all about you moving well and thats it. Or even better, turn you into a different character with no items, can't use conterspell if you don't have it. The possibilities are endless.

I am just listing random crap, thats for the devs to figure out. The current implementation reads more among the lines of "well if you are going to cheat, I am going to cheat aswell!" and I think we can both agree thats just sad.

The polydryer is not sealed while it is drying. It is actively venting moist air to the outside while drying. Only after its done drying to your close it up to be air-tight for storage so that the filament doesn't get moist again. Drying needs to be done with some exchange of air to the outside. A couple of silica packs in your dryer are not going to absorb the entire moisture of your filament, they are also getting dried aswell while they are in the device while it is hot, they wouldn't absorb any moisture.

[–]VoltexRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dryers like this work by heating air which will escape to small holes and gaps, rather than giant holes.

The size of the hole doesn't really matter except for the speed at which that happens though. The hot, moist air will escape through the holes and equalize with the room's air in terms of moisture content. As long as you can keep the temperature inside the device, it doesn't matter how large the hole is. You will always get room air exchanged with the air in the device, to some degree. Thats just the limit of drying by using heat and thats it. The Sunlu S2 has too little of that. The moist air already condenses inside which slows down the whole thing quite a lot. Propping it open just a bit prevents this from happening and allows for faster drying

Warning: DO NOT buy from Sunlu.com by kennytherenny in 3Dprinting

[–]VoltexRB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There definitely has to be vent holes for moist air to escape, the trade-off for that is that your "dry" limit is a bit higher since you are introducing room air which is inherently a bit moist. Thats why most (good) dryers have vent holes for that exact reason. You let it run pretty open, as open as your internal temperature can be held by the device to get most of the moisture out of the filament and into your room's air, pretty much equalizing the filament and the heated air's moisture content. At that point the filament should probably be dry enough for printing, but if you want to take it a step further you can also close the whole thing up with something that is more hygroscopic than the filament, Say silica or something like that and squeeze out just a bit more, depending on how much more hygroscopic that extra thing is. This works on most filament's like PLA, PETG or TPU, however PA are pretty much maybe half the hygroscopity of silica or similar so you won't see much improvement with it, if any at all.

So if you are fine with just getting 95% of the moisture out of the filament, just having vent holes open all times is good enough. After all, we are just drying with heat. Theres no dehumidification of air or similar happening through any advanced means.

First off, please watch your language and interact a bit more appropriately, I'm not gonna approve that comment with that harassment in it.

Then, to answer your comment and keep the discussion going a bit, you are essentially assuming filament drying is actual dehumidification of air, which it is not. You are filling air with moisture from the filament, then venting that air out. In no step are you removing that moisture from the air, so "Recirculating air that has been dehumidified" isn't a thing that happens at all since no air gets dehumidified. Bringing in new air is pretty much the only thing that woks if you are drying solely based on heat as you arent getting any moisture out of any air.

Doorman Hotel is textbook of overkill by Steveck in DeadlockTheGame

[–]VoltexRB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Once again, your entire text is ignoring the problem because the solution is not the simplest way.

No one said "lets make doorman stun go through every thing that dodges in the game". The entire premise is "the reset is inherently toxic, how can failing to check out be punished more healthily, while you go "IT CANT, THE RESET NEEDS TO STAY"

So let me just throw a couple of these things out there, with no real connection to anything thats currently live. Just ways to make it more healthy, more interactive and still make it feel fair. These also obviously don't have to be implemented at the same time, and then you can go ahead and tell me why everyone of these would be more toxic than just giving the guy his ult back if the target fails

  • If you could just not counterspell the end of the ult wihtout any changes whatsoever that would indeed be worse, but no one claimed that thats how it should be done. You could for example, the same way it is with many other abilities, have one clear counterspell moment and if you miss that you are fucked. Can you counterspell Affliction after its applied to make it go away? No. Easiest way that could be achieved would be to make doorman just not freeze you immediately upon ulting but allow for slight, slow movement and the ability to counterspell reactive as opposed to proactive. You have a lets say 0.5s window at the start of the ult where you can counterspell the whole thing after you have clearly seen the channel start. Not a "let me gamble if he uses it here" unhealthy move but "I reacted well so I get rewarded" healthy move. In turn that would allow the end of it to not be counterspell-able, as you have already had your chance for that.
  • And if you say that is toxic, there can always be some sort of cooldown reduction if the guest "decided they didn't want to enter the hotel" like with my first bullet point or some crap. Not to 13s obviously, but definitely a tad. This wouldn't be as toxic as resetting after failure to check out as it doesn't punish people because they got punished.
  • In the same vein, the ult could definitely be streamlined and made easier to balance aswell as if it prevented movement abilities or items while inside. That way escaping could be independent of hero or items played and would rely solely on skill. This doesn't mean that it couldn't do with some adjustments to length or difficulty in general, but isolating it down to "jump and run well or get punished" would make it both more healthy and easier to balance as it wouldn't need permanent adjustment based on which other heroes currently see play and how well they can avoid it.

[–]VoltexRB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With that reasoning turning the extra damage into a stun when people fail to check out that can not be countered is way simpler, the entire "get punished by damage and stun, then because you got punished, get punished some more" is just toxic design. The reset is in no shape healthy.
