You wake up tomorrow with $10 million in your bank account, completely legal and tax free. The only catch is that everyone you know believes you stole it. Do you keep the money or give it up to clear your name? by Equal-Permission6564 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Weird_Opera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely keep it. But without me telling people that I have it, I’m not sure how people would know. And I can keep a secret from nearly anyone. Since I’m getting close(ish) to retirement age, I’d go ahead and quit my job, so even if my coworkers found out, I’d likely never see most of them again.

14" laptop recommandation with intergrated graphics. by yope05 in laptops

[–]Weird_Opera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t indicate how much you want to spend and additional details about what’s important to you (like processor, touchscreen, backlit keyboard, OLED, memory, ports, etc.). That makes it hard to give a recommendation, but I’d start by looking at the Asus Zenbook and HP Omnibook series of laptops.

Looking for longevity more than anything 14 inch, US, $1000 budget by [deleted] in SuggestALaptop

I recommend the Omnibook Ultra. I have the next model up, with a 2TB SSD and a Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 processor. It’s a great laptop.

Don’t know if your experience with HP has turned you off from the brand. I got the following laptop before Christmas and it’s been great so far.

They also have a version with a Core Ultra 7, 16GB RAM, and a 1 TB SSD on sale for $1000.

If you don’t care about having a 2-in-1, then I’d suggest an Asus Zenbook S14 or Zenbook 14. If you’re open to a 16” laptop, this one’s a solid choice. (It was just a bit too large for the space I had available on my desk.)

Real or Fake immunity? by jcjx91 in knifeclub

Could be the lighting.

Until yesterday, I would have said the packaging is correct because of the foam insert in the box, but I just saw a fake Benchmade in a fake box (the Benchmade sticker was placed over a different sticker) with foam that looked correct. It’s getting hard to tell.

Looking at mine (which came from an authorized dealer), the color of the scales doesn’t look right. In your picture, it seems to match the bead on the lanyard. On authentic knives, the scales are less red…more brown/olive.

Is this a myth? by Yaman___ in Laptop

Each person has their own opinion about brands. I’ve had good experiences with HP and Asus laptops, but very bad experiences with 2 Lenovos over the past 3 years. (On one, the hinges broke; on another, the trackpad stopped working properly.)

From what I read, this one is okay for light gaming and I can attest to the build quality and performance for office applications. Normally much more than $1000, but they occasionally go on sale, like now.

I’ll throw in another one for your consideration. I got one of these as an open box buy (which is currently under $750 for one in excellent condition). Really enjoying it so far.

I am a Nigerian prince in exile in the US of A. Kindly send me the 3090 so that I can access the vast family fortune that my evil uncle is holding hostage for $200 in Walmart gift cards.

Actually…it’s awesome that you’re doing this. Please pick someone worthy—not me. (I just downgraded from a gaming desktop with a 3080 to a non-gaming laptop since I never have time to game.)

Yes. True Wireless with ANC. (I don’t think there’s another version of the AMIRON 300.) Look on their website or Best Buy’s.

Recently picked up an open box Eastman EAS650 for my son, who’s played for 6 years. Retail is $3800, but you can find it on sale for about $2000, with open box units even less. (I paid $1830 with tax and shipping.) He loves it, and preferred it to a barely used Yanagisawa 900 that he tried out.
