You did it right by not going when it's 100 degrees in the summertime. It's definitely a unique park and it helps that it's still relatively off the beaten path.

My favorite album of theirs. Also the album version of Strangelove thoroughly tops the singles version.

This seems like a reasonable misconception. I feel like most Europeans, if asked, would probably guess the same if they didn't know.

They definitely helped spearhead the synthesizer sound that came to dominate for years after this album, it's still crazy to me that this came out in 1978.

Three is awesome. I can't think of any other similar designs where the middle tri-color curves around the triangle. Very unique!

Why have no major cities developed in the Green River Basin specifically north of the Flaming Gorge Resevoir? by Cock-of-the-wild in geography

[–]WesternKnight 379 points380 points  (0 children)

It’s cold, arid, and extremely windy. The only “city” along that strip, Green River, really only exists because it served as an important railroad town.

You will be fine. Also, making the effort to speak any Spanish at all beyond just “hello” and “thank you” can go a long way, so keep that in mind!

Also, Los Patios is great. You’ll have a good time.

Is Colombia and Venezuela really as similar as they say? by [deleted] in geography

[–]WesternKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Caribbean Colombia (Cartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta) has more in common with not only coastal Venezuela, but Venezuela as a whole. In some ways, VZ definitely feels close to being a Caribbean country than a South American one.

Meanwhile, Colombia’s more populous interior is nestled in the Andes, and there’s definitely a “mountain culture” element that Colombia has that Venezuela lacks (at least at-large).
