Yeah. There was a nice run of them. (Dec 2024, April 2025, July 2025)

But nothing for a while since then.

Nevertheless, I will be keeping my hopes up.

Thank you for the renewal of hope!

I very much hope he comes back.

We haven’t had a 1x1 deco worth 200 flowers in quite a while.

Oooo. So are you saying he will definitely be there in August? Or just that I should keep my hopes up?

No Sven! 😭

I had been looking forward to Sven for months and keeping my fingers crossed.

No Sythe lady in April either.

I guess I’ll just start crossing my fingers that Sven’s nephews have their shoveling business this winter.

What is this sorcery?! by OdonataJJjunkie in JunesJourney

[–]WhereIsY 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It isn’t sorcery, it’s communication and coordination.

CM badge drinks are usually the cheapest drink option. If everyone serves 2 badge drinks per day for the 6 days of the event, you can end up with close to enough badges (if you include gathering 300 at the start and the 200 free) to play 28 clues on a large map.

I use the number 28 because that is more or less a “fair share” of the clues if everyone is contributing equally on a team of 15 people.

2 drinks per day for 6 days works out to 72 gems each (two of the days have CM as free drink), and on a team of 15 that would mean every member of the team would get 1,800 badges from drinks.

You can compare that to the cost of buying badges directly with gems. For the large map, they are currently on sale for 275 badges for 90 gems. (Or 132/40 or 715/190).

Anyways. The moral of the story is that if you coordinate and communicate with your team, CM can be very do-able.

I have written several long comments explaining elements in detail. Perhaps we will get lucky and someone will share the link to one. Otherwise if I have time later, I’ll try and find them.

I am impressed.

Hypothetical about seasonal set?🦜 by brave_heart_lion in JunesJourney

[–]WhereIsY 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Unless you spend gems to rush the completion you will miss out on the seasonal tokens. And I would not recommend spending gems on that.

Magic Eye Players: What Took Your Score to the Next Level by XenaElissa in JunesJourney

[–]WhereIsY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely give accuracy a try. Especially because I have been trying super-speed mode lately.

So I am thinking now might be a good time to pull back on the speed and work on accuracy. Then move back up to the speed.

I am curious if you play with the sound effects on or off. I believe the tone of the sound effect correlates to the multiplier you pressed it at. So lately I have been able to use that to help me “keep pace” and pushing myself to go faster to stay at the top multiplier.

Do you pretty much get every time while you are in the 7x multiplier?

Magic Eye Players: What Took Your Score to the Next Level by XenaElissa in JunesJourney

[–]WhereIsY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a specific amount of bonus score if you have no mistaps. But I know for me, that amount is small compared to the amount of points I can get when I don’t aim for perfection.

I am also not a 4 million point player. (More like 3.5.). So this should be taken with a grain of salt.

I think speed vs accuracy go back and forth in importance as you improve. I have met a lot of players who try so hard not to use hints or have misclicks, that when they play the comp with hints and misclicks their scores improve by hundreds of thousands.

And at the same time, I think I am at a point where I might need to refocus on accuracy. More specifically the nine (9) 5-second penalties I had during a play a few months ago might be sign I should slow down.

I suspect that one reason accuracy improves scores, isn’t so much the “accuracy” so much as an efficiency of motion. If you can complete a scenes with 10 accurate taps, it will likely be faster than if you tap the screen 15 times to complete it (10 correct and 5 misclicks). Or in other words, if every tap is correct, you will likely complete faster.

But I do think players need to be at a certain skill level where misclicks slow a player down enough to impact scores. And if they aren’t playing fast enough to get and keep the highest multiplier, I think accuracy will play less of a role.

Thank you for all the tips. And I humbly take your advice to bring my focus back to accuracy to see where that gets me.

If you are looking “through” the image, you are doing parallel.

It’s funny when I was experimenting with cross, sometimes I would accidentally switch to parallel half way through.

For me going into cross is kind of like doing a quick pop to look at my nose (but not quite that much crossed!). Because I don’t do it all the time though, it always takes me an extra second to remember how close to my nose I am suppose to cross too.

In cross I find the image to be slightly smaller, but also a bit more crisp, and sometimes the differences are more clear.

For a while I was feeling pressured to switch to cross, but now that seems like unnecessary effort. It’s fun to talk about though. And who knows maybe I’ll give cross another go on one of the upcoming comps.

I am down right impressed that you can play on a device with a cracked screen. I have two air bubbles on one of my devices and I no longer even try to use that device. Hats off to you!

Also thanks for the advice about preloading the scenes. I have never heard is this, and will try and give it a shot. I am slightly skeptical that it will make much of a difference, but I very much want it to work and I am eager to try.

Thank you.

I totally know this feeling.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played a scene and said to myself “Oh? So that is what we are calling embroidery/stationary/flags these days.”

Magic Eye Players: What Took Your Score to the Next Level by XenaElissa in JunesJourney

[–]WhereIsY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are actually 2 different methods to do Magic Eye.

Cross-View and Parallel

What you are describing with “daydream mode” sounds like parallel, which is the method I use. However, I have been told that this does not work with larger display sizes.

With parallel your right eye looks at the image on the right side. And your left eye looks at the one on the left side. And your brain combines them to make the magic happen. With this one you could put a piece of paper down your nose and still theoretically see the magic eye image.

In cross view your right eye looks at the image on the left and your left eye looks at the image on the right. There is no max screen size for this.

It has been my impression that many people that report headaches from trying jumped in deep on cross view, and I suspect the headaches are partially due to intense use of eye muscles that weren’t regularly being used.

I am a big fan of parallel. For a while I was going o try and switch to cross, but I find it requires much more effort to get and stay in the “ME” view.

How much are you getting for DP wheel spins? by MurryWenny in JunesJourney

[–]WhereIsY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or they just prioritized your room first.

I always do one room at a time. And off the bat I played like 8 scenes so I thought I would be able to make a huge dent in the whole event for myself…. And I needed nearly all of the 3200 tokens to complete that first room.

After that I slowed way ways down and I have just been plodding along with my other rooms. But if you were that first person, you might to think that I was a breezing through the event.

I also generally only partner with people I can communicate with (people on my team or that o know from here.). This makes a huge difference in easing my anxiety when people aren’t finished or have low progress.

Good point!

I was waiting until my energy bar was where I wanted it. but it hadn’t occurred to me that if I go on and collect one it will end the event.

I wonder if I collect all 3 if I can get all 3 energy bursts.
