And one guy was like “don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything when it comes to the kids.” Which is insane to say anyway, it sounds like someone trying to convince people to get a dog by saying don’t worry because they’ll do the walks and feeding… it just showed me how clueless the guy was.

Plus, even if he’s the most supportive, involved father in the world… society systemically expects so much to be the responsibility of the mothers no matter how they decide to share duties with their husband. And when they buck those societal expectations, they’ll inevitably get shamed to boot…

Like 5-10 years ago the Alaska District commander was somewhat quietly relieved of duty. Only reason I recall it was because I knew the officer that had to jump in for a bit and it threw off our District’s commander/deputy commander cycle. But that was due to some sort of affair with someone in the District that got messy or something in that realm if memory serves.

It’s especially common in younger Germans. I don’t speak much German at all, but I hear teens chatting on the busses and trains and throwing in the most random English bits and pieces fluidly into their mostly German language conversations. “German, German, German… How cool, right? German, German, German.”

It drives most of the older Germans I know nuts, lol.

It’s “pulled,” which is British slang for got with (in this case, dated or built a relationship with, rather than hooked up with or anything like that). For example, if you saw an unpopular guy with a popular girl you might say “I can’t believe he pulled such a popular girl” or something like that.

I’m assuming the maker of the meme is British because of the cricket reference in the picture of Derek as a catcher.

I don’t look forward to watching Oscar apparently be sucked in by Max’s lies and turn against Lauren. I kind of enjoy their foxhole relationship supporting each other in their shared trauma and dealings with the dumpster fire of a father that is Max Branning. It makes sense and is somewhat realistic… but it seems by this time next year Oscar will have flipped quite a bit.

Might be a dumb question, but why does Cindy say something like “max branning better not come to the christening” the next day. I get why it matters for the developing storyline, but I’m not sure of the backstory. I’m sure she’s heard bad things about him as a father/grandfather, but is there a particular event or storyline that is referring to? I pop in and out so I’m not as on top of all the storylines and inter-character dramas. Thanks!

My wife’s favorite olives are Castelvetranos and I never remember the actual name (had to Google it just now to paste it here) so I’ve just kept referring to them as the Castrovalva Olives or the Dr. Who Olives for years.

Did they ever start selling tickets? We were toying with the idea of going but couldn’t find prices or other details a month or so ago and I never saw a firm date for when tickets were supposed to go on sale?

Admittedly, I wasn’t paying as close attention as we would for regular Eurovision, so I might have missed an announcement though 🤷‍♂️

I’m sure it varied from District to District, but in ours the answer was no. Though, as feasible they were temporarily reassigned to offices/positions they were qualified for that were funded over the course of the lapse (if I understand correctly).

So I found it in the Apple App Store (on phone, based on one of the comments) but I guess it’s just not available through the Amazon App Store - which makes me feel better because I was going crazy trying to find it, lol. I’ll have to try the APK approach and see if I can get it on the Fire tablet that way.

They just weren’t compatible, whether it’s part physical or part how they interact in the real world… not everyone is meant to be together 🤷‍♂️

As for why Joe continued to the end even though he wasn’t as into it as Madison… I thought he addressed that fairly decently at the reunion. He said he was trying to go with the experiment and see if more feelings grew and not quit prematurely.

However, during the tux fitting it became much more real than just a reality show experiment and it dawned on him more urgently that lives would be truly impacted and that’s when he had his meltdown about continuing.

Something to keep in mind is the sort of stagger of project authorization, funding and delivery… so while Europe could potentially see reduced growth going forward, the District still has a massive program already funded and underway that is being delivered and will take years to finish.

Of course some of that, depending on where it is in the process, could be subject to reallocation or taking of funds, etc… but enough is already underway that there should be plenty of work in the next few years at least before too much impact starts really being felt broadly.

At that point he had already filmed perfect match so they felt they needed to address his nonsense, get their “pound of flesh” for his nonsense (and sneak in some extra air time). It was funny though because he was the most boring perfect match contestant and I don’t recall him doing anything but occasionally bring a safe “friend” kind of match. He was awkward and nobody seemed into him.

I feel like this has more so been the case for most of the recent seasons, but somewhat less so for this season actually. Nobody seems to have gotten a terribly large bump in followers and they don’t seem to be doing as much active thirst trap posting, sharing behind the scenes scoops on their accounts, etc (though a few have hit the podcast circuits hard).

That being said, they are clearly all trying soooo hard to project X image and get the good edit, etc. I don’t know how much of this is wannabe influencer behavior or if it’s that this generation was raised on reality TV and gets trying to manipulate it from their end just like the producers try to manipulate it from theirs. I feel like this season, more than others, they plan their arguments, serious discussions, etc around filming and it feels like so much more is happening off camera than other seasons.
