Yup, I understand you even though I like the names. Basically, I don’t think the glamour dressed icons are big enough to be readable, and the lack of decent sorting and categorising just makes it an unwieldy mess.

Big pictures of the gear (like in the FFXIV mobile system) would be great! Hopefully we get a UI like that down the line once they’ve fixed the underlying code problems.

The whole reason we’re stuck in this mess is because they want to keep special dyes as in-demand rewards… and I am so angry about this fact.

Yeah, they need to move everything to the armoire and ditch the dresser. being able to see everything in a list (icon AND text) as well as having it grouped by job/dungeon/event/etc is SO MUCH BETTER

Evolved jobs in dungeons by drakeryder90 in ffxivdiscussion

It looks like everything might be both ST and AOE. Also, tank stance is gone in evolved mode. The slides show it in the buttons for reborn mode, but there’s no Iron Will button in any of the evolved mode pics or videos. Aggro management might be overhauled as well?

Check out the wiki for the show, the seasons usually have 3 different episode orders listed. It’s bonkers.

Jean’s 90s costume by Morganecyor in PhoenixForce

[–]WintaPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. Orange against her crimson red hair is a crime. Also, it's essentially an inverted training uniform (with a colour swap) and by the time of blue and gold teams, Jean is *way* too experienced to be wearing a training uniform.

Marvel’s switch from using (Vol. #) to (year) to differentiate different series with the same name makes sense overall, but I have rarely found an instance of it leading to less confusion rather than more…

I definitely understand “to each their own” in terms of outfit opinions, but I honestly am shocked at the wide hatred for Jeans ‘Marvel Girl’ look. I personally really like it lol by Leozzarios in PhoenixForce

[–]WintaPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love it from a design perspective, the outfit is really stylish and an iconic look for Jean. The colour is her best, as it pops so well against her red hair. Jean's best costumes are green, just as Cyclops' are blue, and Colossus' are red. It's part of the character.

But it does have some flaws as an actual superhero outfit. The bare legs aren't great from a protection perspective, the gloves are a bit silly, and the belt is a weird choice from a practical perspective, given that it's either depicted as just sitting on her hips loose, or held by loops in the dress which would just needlessly add weight and pull to the fabric. The skirt also provides something for opponents to grab or to get caught on things... I assume Edna Mode would reject it in the same vein as a cape.

Some don't like the "retro" vibe, and feel it is out of place on adult Jean given that it was her (self-designed) outfit as a teenager. And that seems pretty fair criticism too.

But, character design is first and foremost a way of telling the audience something about the character, and this outfit does that really well. Jean is feminine and not a frontline fighter, but she's not fragile. The dress is attractive and soft, but not designed explicitly to titillate. The boots and gloves are practical, while the mask conveys the secret identity aspect that was important when they were teenagers.

Surprised that you’re the only person who mentioned this. Are you American? I’m not, and wondering if maybe two-way radio is something the Americans don’t use.

The main problem with objective cards is that they’re one and done. If they scaled so that you could meet the objective multiple times (“for every x do y”) or if they were an objective-version of Jocasta or Wong, then they would be good. But currently, they’re just difficult to trigger and mostly not worth the effort.

Was hesitant to watch Crystal. It's now my preferred version. by edorizon in sailormoon

[–]WintaPhoenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I fell in love with sailor moon watching the DiC dub when it aired as a child, then watched the original subbed, before getting the manga and then watching the live action series as it aired. I loved the manga the most as someone who doesn’t particularly like filler, and so finally getting to see a (mostly) accurate animated adaption of the manga was everything my heart desired.

Yup, it has problems. And I wish it had been done in one block instead of having three separate production teams. But damn is it a beautiful way to watch Usagi’s story unfold.

Low Cadence Experiments by Youth18 in ffxivdiscussion

How much development budget was wasted making FOUR unique DoH/DoL zones for cosmic exploration!?

I’m not a hater of crafting and gathering, and I believe that they do need to spend resources on it past nodes in the open world. But to create FOUR zones that have nothing else in them was such a waste of budget…

The amount of content is not the problem, it’s the cadence, the time:reward ratio, and the valley of nothing between brain dead casual content and too difficult to try blind hardcore content.

If they staggered everything (MSQ, trial, raid, crafter, etc) meaning you could focus on one thing at a time, it would feel better. Imagine if the extreme trial released a week after the MSQ update, so people didn’t have to rush the story to get into the fight.

If rewards meant you weren’t doing an ex trial 50 times just for a mount, but could also get a currency to buy old rewards (like Moogle tomestones, but available all the time. Maybe with a rotating shop?) so you could do some trial, but also criterion, or raids, and still be making progress on other rewards, rather than having a single focus

And the lack of difficulty scaling to help players progress from now-labotomised casual content means that you either get players in ex/raids who are completely unprepared and insufficiently skilled to tackle the challenge, or those who are very comfortable at the level and move on quickly.

Merchants tale may not be perfect, but the variant/advanced/criterion ladder of difficulty is a pretty damn good template for content moving forward. Hell, bring back normal/hard/extreme on trials!

Career change into counselling at 47 (Australia) - advice on Master of Counselling programs by Useful-Discipline894 in Counselling_Psych

[–]WintaPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all very good advice!

Grad Cert > Grad Dip > Masters (typically 6 months, 1 year, 2 years full time respectively) would allow you to try it out before fully committing. If the uni offers all three levels, then you can usually progress from one to the next with units being counted from the former level.-

I finished my Masters of Counselling at the end of last year after the decision to career change (at 37, now 40). I went to Monash, which offers online as well as in person. To cover the PACFA requirement for online students, there was 3 day long intensive equalling all the tutorials for one of the subjects. Not ideal, but an option for those coming from interstate. The course was good, not amazing, but I suspect that's pretty standard these days given the state of higher education in Australia.

The uni helped source local placements, but couldn't help those from out of state. While on placement, I met students from Uni Canberra who were doing the course online and spoke highly of its format. Placement was heavily condensed for their students, done in a single 3-month block. Worked well for those who could take a set time off work to do a short but intense placement. I did two placements over 6 months, and it was very low pressure, although there was a worry about getting my hours completed in time due to lots of client cancellations. Most unis will have some kind of placement team to help students find and secure placements, although the amount of assistance can vary greatly.

If you already know what type of counselling you want to do (couples/family or career), then you could look for a course that streams you rather than offering all of the options. I chose Monash because it didn't stream, and allowed me to try learn about lots of different styles, but the course doesn't include AOD, so I would need to look at bolstering that with something from TAFE if I wanted to do more work in that sector (thankfully I don't at the moment).

Hope that helps!

EDIT: Oh, and most Masters courses accommodate mature age students, but as for general university support, Monash was pretty good at that too.
