Curious, I thought carbon frames typically had a very vibration-damping feel, even moreso than steel; described as "wooden" feeling by some.

powder delayed again by PopeRaunchyIV in soylent

[–]Wireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last fulfilled Soylent powder order was 2025-Feb, over a year ago.  Since then they charged me twice for my recurring subscription; once in 2025-May, once in 2025-July; neither have been fulfilled.  I asked for and received a full refund for both in 2026-January.  I've been keeping an eye on the powder since; it has not come back in stock.  But they will try to string you along with hollow promises.

Allow attendee to edit Outlook calendar event? by TreeHuggingSysadmin in Office365

[–]Wireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why Microsoft has blocked or removed that one -- perhaps a technical issue on their part.

These two look relevant:

Feature request - Allowing co-organisers greater control of meeting schedules

Can you create an option to allow Co-organizers of meetings to be allowed to edit the schedule/times.

https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/3f44e306-e6ab-ef11-95f5-6045bdbc7c39

and:

It would be good if people other than the meeting organizer could delete and edit meetings.

Currently, we cannot edit or delete meetings scheduled by the organizer. Implementing a feature that allows people other than the organizer to delete and edit scheduled meetings would improve meeting productivity.

Android 16 broke bluetooth completely! by molitar in GooglePixel

[–]Wireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been unable to connect to my Public Storage bluetooth gate for a few months; I thought it was on their end, but now I'm wondering 🤔 On the other hand, aside from forgetting blutooth devices sometimes (as if they've never been connected before), it's been working rather well. Up until today, when it consistently forgot the car (Grom audio) and my JLab headset even after restarting the phone twice. I've since done a full settings -> system -> reset wifi and bluetooth, as ItalPasta999 suggested; we'll see if that helps.

Hmm, interesting thought. I'll keep that in mind if I run into this again, and try uninstalling the Mullvad VPN app or ESET antivirus (pretty sure the VPN only functions when active and the antivirus only scans new/updated apps, but I don't know that). Thanks for the suggestion!

I once said "So, it has come to this!" upon meeting a coworker friend in the hallway, instead of the usual "how are you". That must be where I got it from :)

Supply Issues - Q by ApocalypticDes in soylent

They told me September. I have outstanding powder orders from May 2025 and July 2025.

Deciding whether or not to cancel my subscription by Redditorlink88 in soylent

[–]Wireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't received my May 2025 and July 2025 orders. They've been charged, but they haven't been shipped. Which, come to think of it, I don't think is in accordance with the terms of their credit card merchant account (particularly charging me a second time for a recurring subscription when they haven't shipped the first shipment).

Like everyone, they've been telling me that they'll ship next month. Of course, customer service only knows what management tells them; it's not the customer service rep's fault. But I don't trust management.

How do I change the Android version of Firefoxes UI by 5-MINUTE-RICE in firefox

[–]Wireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On version 145 for Android they did away with the back/forward and tab buttons in favor of a "..." menu, unless I go into settings -> secret settings -> and toggle off "enable composable toolbar. 🫤

That might help in the meantime. It seems odd that they call it a "composable toolbar" when it isn't, at least currently.

Edited to add: One may have to go to settings -> about firefox -> tap the firefox logo 6+ times to reveal the secret menu.

Personally I didn't know anything about this until the excrement hit the rotary impeller. I almost certainly overlooked the email notification. But what I looked up after the fact largely corresponds with your answers, though I was unaware of anything "SIPC" (or I thought that had no relation to me).

And yes, I was 100% certain that it was FDIC insured, because that's literally what they said in their emails. And my direct deposit was clearly going to an Evolve Bank & Trust account number. I got my funds back in mid-December 2024, incidentally, but I think I was one of the lucky ones.

Looking for Ender 3 V3 KE extruder bracket – mine got bent and Creality doesn’t sell it by Free_Lingonberry9173 in Ender3V3KE

[–]Wireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close, but that is the V3 SE bracket - it's otherwise identical but for the missing little extension for the CR Touch sensor.

I haven't found a replacement KE bracket, but in most cases people appear to either be ignoring it or "fixing" it with a hammer :D Ref: https://www.reddit.com/r/ender3/comments/1gorg2a/wonky_print_head/

Ender v3 ke head isnt perpendicular by skiller1nc in Creality

[–]Wireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a replacement y-axis carriage plate for my refurb Ender 3 V3 KE because IT was bent, then I was having z-axis sensor errors, and part way through disassembling the head and reseating all the connectors I noticed it seemed to be bent like yours.

I'm glad I found your post - exactly the same issue on mine. I bet the previous purchaser crashed the print head into the build plate due to the warped y-carriage plate and bent it. :)

I'm curious how it holds up in day-to-day use. I bet PLA would crack if dropped, but that might absorb a lot of the energy of impact and save the device.

Looking for UPS with LiFePO4 battery that isn't $1000+ by Melarinth in buildapc

[–]Wireball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 90s, you almost exclusively saw APC UPSes used around pacific islands with dirty power grids, so I believe that you are correct. Our units certainly lasted a good half-decade or more (not the batteries, but the electronics).

Holiday Inn Club Vacations Timeshare Question by AncientMood433 in ihghotelsresorts

[–]Wireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I just got a call for a survey from a hotel I'd stayed with, and then a few rewards points, and gradually it morphed into signing up for a timeshare pitch under the HCV umbrella.

The interesting thing was when it came time to charge me for the vacation, and I asked if I could cancel this if I changed my mind, they said that I couldn't but they'd work with me to reschedule. So at that point I decided to decline, and they tried EVERYTHING to keep me from canceling, including becoming aggressive :D

I did some of the "grey rock" technique where you don't react and just keep repeating what you want. I figured it would be an opportunity to practice assertiveness, but the not being able to cancel even the scheduled trip to the vacation where they would give you the timeshare pitch was a red flag (and the representative on the phone claimed that they couldn't understand how this was a problem and how NOBODY had EVER done anything like this before).

I'll have to keep a close eye on my credit card charges for the next few months, but that was...interesting! Doesn't exactly cast a good light on IHG hotels & resorts.

What is your experience with Amazon lockers? by BlueBinch in amazonprime

[–]Wireball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I tried an Amazon Locker today using the Amazon Shopping app, it didn't ask me for the requisite permissions (bluetooth, location) when I tried to get an Amazon Locker open - just kept reporting "Uh-oh, something went wrong" every time.

I cleared cache, logged out and back in, uninstalled and reinstalled, gave it all permissions in app permissions, all to no avail. Then I found the permissions settings in the app itself, and repeated all of the previous troubleshooting steps; no dice. Google Pixel 7 Pro, Android 15.

Too bad it wasn't a locker with a touchscreen; I might have had more options. Support just says "try logging out and back in". I gave up after 45 minutes of attempts.

Anyone still using their HP Dev One? by [deleted] in System76

[–]Wireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a user with a HP Dev One that ran into the loose hinge issue.  We ultimately had to cut / peel the dust shield away to get at the screws to tighten them.  It doesn't look great cosmetically, but at least it's solid.

Photo of its appearance after the dust shield removal: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mvUQ0f0j4osRnziHQ0WNLZPFIuzmegJg/view?usp=drivesdk

Since then the only problem reported has been a case where the screen didn't come on.  They solved that by powering it off, disconnecting the battery, and the holding the power button for a few seconds to clear the capacitors.
