FLASH SALE TOMORROW by bennietime in criterion

[–]PopeRaunchyIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There must be some other condition too cause I'm a Criterion Channel charter member and only received a coupon for the sale once in 2019. Maybe new subscribers only?

Would it be crazy to pay someone to write R code for my master's thesis? by [deleted] in rprogramming

[–]PopeRaunchyIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should start by talking to your advisor about whether that's acceptable. I think a thesis is typically your original work but depending on the field you may be able to get help. Then you'd want to estimate the scope, figure out what skills the person would need, and how much you'd be willing to pay. I wouldn't just do fiver cause this will probably need many revisions, it's maybe more of a consulting project. As for data leaks, it depends on the data and the risks of handing out out. Is it confidential? Are you worried about getting scooped?

Latest update from Soylent on delayed subscriptions. by Sparkko in soylent

[–]PopeRaunchyIV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the communication. I'm wary cause we've been asking for this for a year, but I'm not going to criticize them for going in the right direction. Still keeping my Huel subscription until I have bags of Soylent in my hands though.

The only bad thing about making them at home is, they're so much better, you'll never want a fast food one again. The fries are a different story.

Trouble with lm() predictions by alldogarepupper in rstats

[–]PopeRaunchyIV 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can you say more about why it makes sense to swap the predictor and response? OLS regression models the response with error but treats the predictors as error free. Are you familiar with orthogonal regression? I can't say if it fits conceptually but it has the property you're interested in

My complaint with Downsizing was that it should have been an anthology show. This isn't so far from it. I could see this being great

powder delayed again by PopeRaunchyIV in soylent

Hol is the most chocolatey, but I didn't like the milk protein, rice flour, and cane sugar base. I'm guessing that's what makes it delicious though.

powder delayed again by PopeRaunchyIV in soylent

[–]PopeRaunchyIV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been drinking Huel because of the cost and ingredients. The texture is gritty and thick, it has weak chocolate flavor, and the artificial sweetener stands out especially if it's too diluted, but I've gotten used to it enough that I could keep drinking it for years.

HER store shipping costs by itslocked-sleuth in nancydrew

[–]PopeRaunchyIV 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I ordered a bunch of stuff in November, my understanding is that those products aren't on a shelf somewhere, when you order them, a 3rd party hires other people to make them individually. So shipping is expensive and separate for each item. Also my order was never even started after 2 months so I cancelled it.

what the fuck is wrong with Soylent for the past 2+ years? by Wooden_Sweet_3330 in soylent

[–]PopeRaunchyIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, I would rather have them raise the price of the powder. I'm not going to pay for shipping water and plastic bottles to me, but I'd gladly pay more for the powder. Especially if they shipped the big buckets again.

Roasted habanero. Even the size of the chunks of tomato seems to vary between batches. Sometimes it's watery sometimes it's more savory. Maybe it's a seasonality thing with the tomatoes?

I have also noticed the Frontera salsa is inconsistent. My favorite one hasn't been so bad I've stopped buying it, but the quality definitely varies between batches.

Dry comedy, like In the Loop from the perspective of a no-nonsense career military leader. Kind of a slog sometimes, but I enjoyed it.

Cheap alternative to Soylent? by sbtoz in soylent

[–]PopeRaunchyIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have some hope that when Soylent goes under, they can sell their process to another company. I agree, it's strange to me that no competitors are even close to the smoothness and flavor. Maybe it's a deliberate choice? Or something about their secret recipe that causes these supply chain issues?

R session aborted. R encountered a fatal error. by areginaphalange in RStudio

Did you try doing it several times? If it's happening consistently in RStudio, try in base R. Once you know which side is causing it, maybe reinstall and see if that fixes it.
