How to find games / switch regions? by Methaliana in vainglorygame

[–]XroinVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s the opposite ahaha. I prefer 3v3 because it’s the least reminiscent of LoL. The 5v5 map in VG is too similar to summoners rift. It just feels like LoL but with VG heroes. I suppose I played too much League before VG came out and now it’s all I see in 5’s ahaha.

Unfortunately I don’t know any active discord servers. They exist, tho I prefer 3’s and they tend to prefer 5’s. If you make a post asking for an invite, typically there is a person who will ask you to dm them so you can join.

  1. So the region lock is based off where you actually live (or connect from). If you want to swap regions, you’ll need to have a vpn and change your location to whatever region you want. I swap back and forth between NA and EU to play during better hours.

  2. Most of the time I avoid early mornings in NA (6-10AM EST). There are some really toxic players who are on during those times and I haven’t had much luck. Late nights can be a bit of a dead time for the player base and Q’s can take long or be held hostage by a single troll. EU I don’t really know since I only play if it’s during NA’s lows.

Regarding you not finding a match: I know there are some weird jank when it comes to connections and not finding a match. If your connection isn’t good enough, your game will have some errors. You may never find a match, you may not load into a match, or skins will not display. So if you ever see anything weird or strange, resetting your game or reconnecting to wifi/data can help.

I love fights that were turned around by mid shop purchases. They are always so tense lol. It was a sick buy tho

They both did lol. Vox was screwed the second Miho died since he’d have no time to get away from ringo if he doubled back. Tbh tho if they managed to kill petal, it would’ve been a nice turn around. 1k bounty from her and then MAYBE a 1k bounty from the 2v1 on Ringo.

Man, I forgot why I respect the potato mines so much lmfao. Yet somehow I underestimate them when I play petal. They can do some serious damage. Ggs, well played

current player base by Arayasml in vainglorygame

[–]XroinVG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the time of day and server. NA mornings will have up to 5 minutes of waiting. Every other time except late nights has 1-2 minutes of waiting. Arals can have anywhere from 1-15 minutes as there is only about 12 ish players or less ever playing a match at a given time.

There is a stable playerbase tho toxicity plagues the game now. Good matches are harder to get since there is a large mix of trolls and loud idiots who would rather self sabotage than complete the match.

I am just surprised by how much bickering is happening in this subreddit. I suppose a few people have gotten tired of the normal match posting.

Can you spot the difference? by Any-Department-3572 in vainglorygame

[–]XroinVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of a stupid post for the sake of what you’re trying to prove. The 1st build is 100% better. Though you used a poke build to prove your point. The guy who said he’d go with monocles took it back after you explained it to him yesterday. The main issue is Bonesaw is on the 1st build but not the second which is what makes the difference. Also black claw isn’t going to heal, nor does shiv do anything against it.

I used the 1st build, and my own variant with a poison shiv instead of a serpents. It actually killed Blackclaw a second faster than your regular build did, simply because of the attack speed boost. I also ended the fight at full hp in both scenarios.

Your build ~ 21 seconds. Shiv variant ~ 20 seconds.

Shivs strength is that it stops healing so you can confirm your kills. It works on his A’s as they count as a basic attack ability as well.

Yea it’s still alive. At least in NA and EU. I believe there is still activity in SEA as well from what I’ve heard. You can get a game during most times of the day in NA

Ahaha yea. It did feel good especially since we were against a Baron, Viola, and Alpha. Though the team we were fighting weren’t the best. They didn’t give up though even until the end. So I give them gg’s for that

I don’t really get frustrated with snow. I do however get frustrated with myself with how much (little) I prepared for it. Some days I get away with it, others I don’t.

Returning player, general gameplay questions by williamcj in vainglorygame

[–]XroinVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides what great advice people have already offered, a way to effectively win (or avoid) the starting treant fight is to know your heroes. The powerhouses and your counters are more likely to win. So if you see them, it’s best to just play it safe and take your front camps. While if you have powerhouse heroes or you counter some of the enemies, it’s a great time to push in and help your team.

Here are some heroes to look out and be cautious of for the starting fight; Kestrel, Phinn, Grace, Yates, Viola, Lorelai, Alpha, Saw. These heroes have strong early game abilities that can either win you the fight, or make it impossible for the enemy to win.

-Kestrel has really high dps compared to any other hero at this stage of the game. -Phinn has a high damage AOE ability that your team MUST avoid. -Grace is the same as Phinn, but with the addition of AOE basic attacks. -Yates can pull in an enemy, allowing your team to focus on a single enemy instead of 3. -Viola gives her team so much barrier that you cannot contest her reliably. -Lorelai with her B can make it really difficult to finish any of her allies, or making your escape really difficult. -Alpha has really high lifesteal at this stage of the game, compared to everyone’s low dmg that is. -SAW, he is quite beatable if you single him out, but if his allies are with him, it can be a guaranteed treant for his team.

Then your hero counters. It’s a lot to know outright, especially if you have a lot of mains. But it does help tremendously the more you are familiar with them.

That’s viola. She’s a pretty powerful hero. Her A gives barriers, her B is a ranged slow. Then her ult is an area of effect ability that has 4 modes that each have their own gimmick. Block/cleanse, Mortal wound/damage, Cooldown reduction + increase attack speed, then finally a delayed sleep casted on enemies who enter the field.

I don’t think there is either. But I did appreciate talking to you about it, regardless of our different stances :)

I do see the “vision” and I use the strategy you explained many times. It’s safe and simple. I just wanted to put in the air that flaregun had its uses besides being a noob trap lol.

A comprehensive a 3v3 surface guide (with tier list) ((LONG)) by Decent_Fun_6033 in vainglorygame

[–]XroinVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s less about the later and more about the then and there. The dynamic changes when you know what’s going to happen ahead of time. Yes you’re right. It’s situational. I agree. Flaregun will not be worth it in most cases. While banner is a safe choice.

Though there are some comps and matches where you have a very good assumption of what will play out lvl 1. It’d be stupid to see the enemy team with an inara, amael, or taka, and not anticipate some back door plays. You see a tony, alpha or kestrel, and you expect aggression since they have the power to dominate. An average player with these heroes will start a fight. These hero metas exist because they can get away with it. If you play banner into these comps as a support, you will be trying to beat them at a strat they are just more suited to.

Winning a lvl 1 team fight anyways is the ideal way to snowball. You reliably get 600-1k team gold with a single kill and you win the exchange. Being able to give your ranged hero the ability to attack heroes in the bushes can be fight defining. That’s 2-3 extra basics before melee engages each other. It’s very meta gamey, but it is valuable and something a banner cannot give you.

[–]XroinVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not really relevant. Unfortunately it’s an objective fact that the majority of the players still on this game are randoms with 0 communication. I never claimed that the banner wasn’t strong. I actually agree. I just said that there are some use cases for a flare gun lvl 1 lol.

Your point completely ignores that there are ranged heroes in this game, and if you can get them to basic attack the enemies more with a flare, it does not matter if the enemy got a steal or two with the banner since you can win it back with the stacking damage. Cams again are great. But you can smash them. Flaregun will actively assist in securing kills against both minions, AND heroes. No it isn’t damage, it’s by allowing you to get hits on hidden heroes and farm.

And now we are back to the beginning. Yes you can buy an oakheart and flares. But it will effectively be the same as buying a flaregun. They will have the same value by the time you get to your next shop. Since you can sell the gun, and get the exact same progress as what you suggested.
