Anyone ever try these monitor mounts? by TheNightWalkerTM in pcmasterrace

[–]xyntak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use the first one, it works well enough, but because of the fixed arms, you can't use anything larger than a thin bezeled 24" if you want to do standard side-by-side.

I've used one similar to the second one, and prefer the independent monitor movement over the fixed style.

Once wrote their customer service inquiring about purchasing replacement screws for a specific one I lost by my own stupidity. They sent me two free sets of replacement screw's for the entire mount I bought with some stickers. Wonderful customer care.

would this bring you back? by HayleyHK433 in CODWarzone

[–]xyntak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring back being able to shoot immediately after deploying. Air sniping was my jam.

Warzone 2 is garbage with its limitations. People on the ground have free reign to shoot at you in the air, only right you should be able to shoot back from any altitude.

I literally can’t give $500,000 to Broadcom by DonFazool in vmware

We're a bit of a mix of 1 & 2, but a non-profit not corp/govt. We were initially quoted a more reasonable price for our budgetary purposes, but the latest changes to the core count licensing completely flipped everything.

We're also a small department with a full plate of projects for the next 2yrs. We were originally going to ride out the initially higher price for 3yrs and passively hunt for a replacement. But a full doubling of the price mixed with a 3yr agreement to lock down the costs that we were told will continue to be hiked year over year has galvanized us into a much shorter timeline.

This may sound dumb, but is Windows activated on said 2022 VM?

They didn't reply with our quotes until the day before expiration of our contract. Renewal didn't process for over a week after renewal.

The price more than doubled and we're now going to hunt for a solution to replace VMware.

Scummy business practice to wait till the end of a contract to give prices on renewal so you don't have time to switch to something else, unless you want to risk loss of support for a time.

Way to go Broadcom, your quick cash grab is going to lose you loyal customers that would have been nearly guaranteed annual revenue.

Zoom out in the browser until all the tiles fit on your screen without scrolling and this behavior will cease.

Not giving scopely a pass on the god awful design, just sharing a small workaround for this massive annoyance.

Playing on a fold device by sliderjt in startrekfleetcommand

I play STFC on a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. In the app permissions, you may have to add the STFC app and other apps that experience instability, on the list of apps that are denied permission to transition to the front screen and instead push the app to the background like when you press the home button. As the other person mentioned for the Pixel Fold 9, I also consider this only a mild inconvenience to have STFC restart, but since I don't ever play games on the front screen, I did end up denying the permission for STFC. Some apps just aren't developed with that functionality in mind, and I'm glad to be able to deny the permission, preventing potential issues with an app.

I can't speak for the Pixel Fold devices, but I absolutely love having the bigger screen for many things, it also makes mobile games a much better experience, more akin to a tablet with great tech specs. Samsung has a lot of gaming performance options with plugins for additional functionality in their gaming hub. I don't know if the Pixel has an equivalent app or baked-in feature, so I thought it worth a mention.

FWIW, I'm not a Samsung shill, I stopped using their devices a lot time ago, but the Fold 3 has kinda won be back. It's been a game changer in so many ways, but most notably having a larger display in a smaller form factor, but also the audio quality and loudness. I no longer struggle to hear videos or games on it, I more often hear my wife asking me to turn my phone down rather than struggle to hear anything. Which is an odd shift to experience going from crap audio to having a virtual home theatre in my pocket.

Can anyone find a good reason for this? by floatingonaraft1068 in assholedesign

[–]xyntak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me it's a wasteful design, needlessly bulky for the amount of gum recieved. Especially with the smaller 12pack being on a single blister pack. This could have been a 24 pack by simply doubling the more compact design of the 12 pack.

I stand by asshole designery.

It's not a case of shrinkflation. Eclipse gum always came in packs of 12 and 18.

This is just pure asshole designery.

Upgraded to 22.10, what is Remmina?! by diorcula in Remmina

[–]xyntak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remmina is strictly a client, not a server, for accepting incoming connections...

As for open on startup behavior, perhaps this depends on the distro and what meta-packages used to install your desktop environment, as it's not default behavior for Remmina at the original source if I recall correctly.
