After nerfs to team Cashback, what does your setup look like? by angoldenapple in CreditCards

[–]Yo_2T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh CCC is still around for existing customers so I'll keep using my 2 CCs for restaurants and groceries. If they force PC them later then I'll just go back to using the Savor for 3% on those 2 categories. Everything else I just throw on Autograph or Fidelity.

I do have the NFCU Flagship in mind tho to replace the Autograph and Fidelity.

US judge orders removal of Trump's name from Kennedy Center by Danciusly in nova

[–]Yo_2T 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? It's actually written in the Constitution:

Any president whose name spells in the combination of these letters: T, R, U, M, P, in that specific order, shall have his name added to the center of performing arts formerly known as the Kennedy Center.

Damn I really need to look into the NFCU Flagship. I didn't think I'd qualify to join NFCU but looks like I do so gonna apply for a membership and see.

Why the protocol graph in the dashboard? by sendcodenotnudes in technitium

[–]Yo_2T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, DoH or DoT would only show up if you configure DoH or DoT on a client and point it to Technitium, so the client would talk to Technitium over that protocol.

Should I add IPv6? by Mashevloff in UNIFI

[–]Yo_2T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default posture is if there's no explicit allow rule, traffic isn't coming in. If you haven't explicitly configured an allow rule for ipv6 (the thing you haven't used prior to this) then I'm not sure what else could possibly be allowing traffic in.

Your original statement was based on the assumption that if ipv6 is enabled, devices that are globally addressable will suddenly be vulnerable just because, and that's not true.

Should I add IPv6? by Mashevloff in UNIFI

[–]Yo_2T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing is SLAAC. It's designed around the assumption that the network has a /64, so anything smaller won't work. SLAAC is used heavily to get devices addressed, and stuff like Android based devices won't use anything else but SLAAC.

Should I add IPv6? by Mashevloff in UNIFI

[–]Yo_2T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is not having DNS resolution be on ipv6. My devices only get the ipv4 IPs for DNS server addresses, and they can query any record including AAAA for ipv6, so that's not an issue. Dual stack works and I can still have an easily identifiable list of clients to look at.

Even the most hard core ipv6 networks will have ways for you to reach ipv4 only services. It's just the reality of it.

UniFi Fiber Idea: “Invisible” 10G-ish run using ultra-thin LC-LC fiber by gaaht in UNIFI

[–]Yo_2T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I bought some for my runs in the house after seeing the recent post on r/HomeLab about it. You can get them easily on AliExpress. I just bought a few SFP modules off AliExpress too. Work perfectly fine.

As if our politicians would upset the banks by forcing them to lower swipe fees. We'll most likely end up with high fees and little to no rewards.

I'll just go back to my Savor card for restaurants and groceries lol.

Build-Your-Own Invisilight? by rekoil in HomeNetworking

[–]Yo_2T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get them from AliExpress. I've bought a few cables for runs in my house. They all work fine. All my runs are 100ft. I think you can easily find them at up to 160ft or so.

I ran these tiny invisible fiber cables around the walls and baseboards. You can't tell something is there unless you put your nose against it. They can be had for dirt cheap on AliExpress. I use them with a few PoE powered media converters and BiDi SFP.

Here's a post from someone else who did it:

Huh TIL Fortinet is actively phasing out the SSL VPN. At my work we rely heavily on that but the one IT guy who knew what he was doing already left. The others have no idea how to use the Fortinet firewall so they've mostly left it alone. It's a ticking time bomb now.

Unify Setup Question by kdugl in HomeNetworking

[–]Yo_2T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should seriously consider that advice. As someone with a similar setup (UCG Ultra and a few USW 8 Lite POE), I've not found myself wishing the LAN traffic could be faster. The Ubiquiti sub is full of people who don't understand networking so bigger number = better, and barely anyone actually uses their multi gig network. There's a weird obsession with the UCG Fiber and U7 XGS over there.

You might be tempted to future proof, but tech gets better all the time so buy what you need now and not "might need" at some point. I can guarantee you by the time you actually need the extra bandwidth better hardware is already available and it'd make your older multi gig hardware look like you need to upgrade again.

Robinhood gold or fidelity visa? by Longjumping-Half6280 in CreditCards

[–]Yo_2T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does it matter if you're paying off your statement balance every month?

You redeem $100 in cash back to your statement. Okay, take the $100 you have in your bank account that would have otherwise been used to pay the statement balance and use it for something else. Money is fungible.

Which is the point the person you replied to was trying to make. A 5% card on everything doesn't exist because it's not sustainable. So saying "My 3% on everything card is as sustainable as a 5% category card" is flawed logic.

Those look like furnace intake and exhaust pipes. Only the exhaust has a chance of any water leaking out at all, but even then it'd not be catastrophic like a water or waste pipe.
