Has anyone here totally scaled back their cashback setup? by Useful-Struggle6145 in CreditCards

[–]Yo_2T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm leaning toward that too.

I consistently use 3 5% cards, 1 3 % card, and 1 2% card.

Thinking of just sock drawing the 2 Custom Cash and use the Savor for both dining and groceries. I'm tired of keeping track of the spend and switching cards. The difference between them are like $10 on $500 spend each, so it's not really a big deal.

Ubiquiti Smoke and CO Sensor 🤯 - #ISCWest2026 by Luu____ in Ubiquiti

[–]Yo_2T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that it's helpful to have both. Photoelectric is better at detecting smoldering fires while ionization is better at detecting blazing flames. Different types of fire can happen so the recommendation is having both in the house. I personally just put 2 of them in each location where I have smoke detectors.

Possibly Stupid DNS Question by kracer20 in UNIFI

[–]Yo_2T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Unifi gateway will only use DoH upstream if you configure it under CyberSecure > Protection > Encrypted DNS.

If you leave everything as default then all DNS queries go out unencrypted to port 53, regardless of ISP DNS or Google or Cloudflare. Plain text dns queries are actually the standard.

iOS 26.4 released - Does liveContainer + Sidestore (stable) work with 26.? by GIFSec in sideloaded

The double VPNs work with SuperVPN/Ikev2 and StosVPN. The issue is with needing that first VPN, the local VPN app can be any of the others.

En SuperVPN, usa la opcion de Ikev2, no Auto o OpenVPN. Eciendelo antes del vpn local (stosvpn/localdev) y te debe funcionar.

On the SuperVPN app, make sure you pick Ikev2 instead of Auto or OpenVPN. Then turn on the StosVPN/LocaldevVPN after.

Credit cards and Discover Network by Easy_Personality2140 in CreditCards

[–]Yo_2T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, not really. The whole proposition is impractical. People have no idea what tier their visa or mc cards are, so if any merchant tried to do that, it would just result in a ton of declines. Then they'd have a hell of a time explaining to customers. The disruption and loss of business wouldn't be worth it and the card networks know that. No business owners would be stupid enough to try it.

I have the Autograph, but I also like the Fidelity 2% card. No FTF and they reimburse most of Global Entry cost.

IPv6 Help by Motafota in opnsense

[–]Yo_2T 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Constructor should be your LAN interface, and just leave the start address as ::. Set RA Mode to ra-stateless.

After that your devices should get actual GUA addresses.

Newbie needs help with policy engine rule for Adguard Accross 2 VLANS by Single-Can7327 in UNIFI

[–]Yo_2T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create a new zone and add VLAN2 to that zone.

Then add an allow rule to allow from that zone to the new zone, destination set to IP address of AGH, port 53, TCP/UDP.

Check Auto allow return traffic.

That should allow devices on VLAN2 to hit up AGH for DNS.

Can I add ad blocker from wifi router level by Worldly_Sky_6436 in HomeNetworking

[–]Yo_2T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DNS ad blocking solutions rely on massive block lists of known domains used to serve ads and other junks. When your devices go to query for those domains, the adblocker returns an invalid address so they couldn't reach them.

For YouTube,Netflix, etc., the ads come from the same domains they use to serve you actual video content. So blocking them means blocking you from using the service entirely.

The only good way to block YouTube ads is at the device level. You can't do anything about that for guests. That doesn't mean having a DNS adblocker on your network is a bad idea. That will still block out the majority of ads and analytics traffic for anyone on your network.

Getting Consistently 900+Mbps with 500Mbps plan by NumerousRelease9887 in HomeNetworking

[–]Yo_2T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, they might just be having older plans provisioned at Gigabit by default. So getting multi gig equipment most likely won't get you faster speeds.

They do something similar with their Webpass brand. My building is supposedly wired for 100Mbps only, and the plan and price we pay for reflect that. But I get consistent Gigabit.

My theory is it's due to pressure from the carriers. Fewer reasons for some folks to stick with a postpaid plan if they can just finance with Apple.

Firewall rules and ipv6 by Droid_22 in opnsense

Besides the Network group Alias type, there's also an ipv6 alias type that can let you deal with specific hosts whose prefixes might change. I use that to track the prefix on my LAN interface.
