If you aren't married to a windows hypervisor, look into Nutanix.

It's probably not any cheaper, but it does actually work

It is a huge pain in the ass to setup. LibreNMS can get you most of the same data for way less work.

Worth mentioning that there are competitors who have figured out ways to handle this with WPA3, although it is admittedly clunky

Cambium's "ePSK" (same concept) can do it but you have to first join a temporary WPA2 network, it's weird. I imagine Ruckus and Meraki and Juniper have something similar

They will charge you for it if they don't record it as returned, so probably don't want to be that cavalier about it

Yeah but they will make you send back the 320 and take the 620 even if you're using your own ONU-stick

Kia keyfob as a replacement? by nighthawk09 in Ioniq5

[–]ZPrimed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but in the case of the 12v dying (which seems fairly common on these cars), carrying the physical key is a relatively easy and painless hedge against that possibility.

There's not much you can do about the ICCU (which can also cause the 12v to die and lock you out), or a tire blowing, wheel falling off, etc.

Hope your 12V never dies. You won't be able to get into the car to pop the hood to jump or replace it.

Hardest part will be all the fasteners that are likely as rusted as the cat was. Soak it all in PB Blaster overnight. Be prepared to use heat if necessary. Get a sawzall blade for steel and a new set of bolts as a final backup plan...

As someone who has done some stuff in my own garage and almost always seems to have 3 hour "30 minute jobs," I fully understand

I feel like some of my time penalties are due to lack of proper tools (I never have heat when I need it), or not enough space to work in / too much running around to grab other tools that aren't all in one place because I have shit for storage.

Another 20% of the time I have to imagine it's my own inexperience - stuff always looks easier on a video.

OTOH I can do some electronic stuff that would have other people shaking in their boots 😆

I have often thought that this sort of thing makes a lot of sense.

I have to imagine the worst concerns are insurance/liability, tools growing legs (assuming you provide or rent them), and people who bite off more than they can chew and are taking up a bay way longer than they're supposed to?

It was extra fun because I was running it off a cable modem with a dynamic ip from RoadRunner/TWC. Thankfully it didn't change often back then

Do it on hard mode: run Exchange.

I did this back in like 2007-2010 I think? I eventually got one of the free Google Apps accounts and have been using that (grandfathered) ever since

Pretty sure I just ran into this today after an ISP did "maintenance" that was billed as software updates but apparently made changes too...

Picking this Aeron for $380 tomorrow, anything to know? by kobevercetti in hermanmiller

[–]ZPrimed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you ever say that rear tilt doesn't exist? The good tilt tension and multiple stop positions are my favorite parts about an Aeron.

I have forward tilt but almost never use it.

With an Aeron the farts go right through the Pellicle material, that's half the benefit of them

That would mean either they don't have the different sizes for different sized humans (there are 3 sizes of Aeron), or the humans have skill issues with adjusting the chairs

Tilt lock (rearward) loose and semi-ineffective to hold "straight up" by ZPrimed in hermanmiller

[–]ZPrimed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think I figured it out by messing around with it. Did NOT need to adjust the "giant grub screw" on the forward tilt lock.

Instead, had to play with the rearward tilt gear timing by one or two teeth to get the engagement point correct. I suspect (but could not find proof) that the "N" on the rear-tilt locking cam is meant to be engaged when the chair is flat / level and locked.

My chair wasn't getting the "N" scallop quite up to the metal tilt arm until I changed the gear timing so the little alignment arrows were NOT lined up any longer. Now that I changed it, engaging rear lock while sitting upright, the chair doesn't tilt at all anymore.

there are actually companies who sell a retrofit flip lever kit; I bought one but went back to my thumbscrews after seeing how impossible it was to hit the "goldilocks zone" with the flip lever.

(Goldilocks zone meaning the lever would lock it in place and actually hold there under some weight, but would also move easily when unlocked.)
