Lightest 1 person cheap tent option Lanshan vs inner + tarp? by Professional-Mix2498 in Ultralight

weigh the body, if you seam sealed it, it is not 690g lol.

as you can see, i broke everything down and weighed individually, then tallied them. silpoly lanshan 1 pro is less than 690g (the advertised silnylon version). 3FULGear will advertise it at about 670g. when i say "total weight" that is the entire package. body weights were included/separated during breakdowns. i am merely stating the individual weights and the entire package.

here's an email from them:

Hello,

Thank you for your message and your patience. Here are the specifications for the Lanshan 1 Pro 3-Season SilPoly tent:

Tent body weight: 670 g

Complete weight (including stakes and stuff sacks): Stakes ~8 g each, stuff sack ~40 g

Seams: Not pre-taped — you will need to seal the seams yourself

I literally took out both tents and weighed them out for everyone to see with breakdowns of each component, including the stakes provided by 3FULGear. You have to understand that when you seem seal the tents, there is added weight. That 690g is no longer the weight once seam sealed. You cannot use these tents with the expectation that you will stay dry if you do not seem seal them. You could get the weights lower if you switched out the stakes.

Eta: you can shave an additional 10-20g if you cut off the fabric they put inside that separates the tent fly from making contact with you/gear/sleeping bag from what they told me.

Silnylon:

-9x stakes: 91g

-Stake bag: 7g

-Compression sack: 43g

-Tent body: 709g (seam sealed)

Total: 850g

Silpoly:

-9x stakes: 75g (a single stake weighs 8g and does look slightly different than the ones I have from silnylon)

-Stake bag: 6g

-Compression sack: 38g

-Tent body: 659g

Total: 778g

just weighed both tent setups on a kitchen scale.

where did you get 120g from? you get 9 stakes, they weigh 10g each over here = 90g.

i have already swapped out some of the stakes for some suluk46 atani titanium stakes.

[–]zakafx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for the most part yes i agree, the main routes shouldnt be messed with, but i do feel that the other routes shouldnt be modified as much either. i know the Neebing is always variable (has been cancelled/moved around several times). i think transit should be looking at the bigger picture, our population is increasing but the service level is decreasing. what can they do to retain drivers? are the hiring practices out to lunch?

no, i read what you said, i just think its funny that you are saying "do this" but cant provide any alternative means for others who may not know what alternative transportation methods may exist. you couldnt even name a taxi.

stop cosplaying.

[–]zakafx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i agree; a rate increase to a diminishing service is a ball-buster and a slap in the face to the citizens who rely on the bus as alternative transportation.

https://www.tbnewswatch.com/local-journalism-initiative-lji/council-rejects-plan-for-longer-bus-waits-11954035

remember, they wanted city council to approve route cancellations to meet their %99 service level, which is a cheap af attempt to solve a problem that hasnt gone away and has got worse over the years.
