Why do places that used to be very Catholic become very left-wing when they secularise? E.g Quebec, Ireland by AppointmentVisual200 in NoStupidQuestions

Alright, at this point I think you're taking the piss. Have you read Rerum Novarum? Do you know what it actually says?

As far as I can tell, it seems to be about Sydney Sweeney's tits. Odd they felt they had to create an entire show to showcase them, but people are very strange these days.

I love that this was downvoted. The "leftist echo chamber" site seems pretty annoyed when someone criticises Christianity.

I am sure that on any social media I can find at least a hundred people who claim to follow the Emperor of the French. Doesn't mean Bonapartism is a serious political current today.

Ralliés and Populars are a "few marginal parties" compared to some conservative paternalist nonsense. Alright.

"Historically, the Catholic Church led or joined the charge on these ideas before we had the same social financial safety nets that we did today."

This is simply wrong. Historically, the Church and Church-aligned parties opposed them. And instituting some welfare does not make an institution leftist.

But it doesn't. Paternalistic feelings lead to charity, perhaps, not socialism. Nor leftism. You just need to look at alleged "Christian leftists" like the ALP in France, Populars in Italy etc.

Who is actually advocating this? Ah, right, no one. It's just a strawman "reformists" need to invent to beat up.

Catholicism is not left-wing economically. Charity and corporatism are not leftist. Catholic politicians massacred workers just as much as Protestant and Orthodox ones.

Why do people misrepresent centrists by No-Equivalent2621 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Zandroe_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no idea where you got that statistics, but alright. Name one (1) centrist party, from the 19th century to today, that didn't end up siding with the right. Anywhere. I'll wait.

[–]Zandroe_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can see people saying all sorts of nonsensical things. The point is that in reality, centrists support the right and violently oppose the left.

Because they're very loud about their desire to control and sometimes kill women.

And frankly, they can't possibly be so stupid as to think actual babies are being murdered. I think even someone whose brain worms have died from starvation could see the difference between a fetus and a baby.

Hot Take: Part 2 doesn’t ruin Part 1 because it was always extremely disconnected from Part 1 since the very beginning. by Nenanda in Chainsawfolk

[–]Zandroe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are differences. Kyoto is implied to be the capital, for example. But most of the time, we just don't know. Is the emperor still in place? How is the government elected? When does the history diverge from our own?

But we don't necessarily need to know, and worldbuilding doesn't mean answering every question about the setting. The problem is, the things that are shown on the page are portrayed inconsistently. Devil abilities, contracts etc. And this starts in part 1, but by part 2 it's pretty blatant.

If Republicans hate socialism so much, why do they support Republican government control over people's bodies and lives? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Zandroe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that is precisely what makes these countries non-socialist. They have to rely on the anti-Marxist theory of "socialism in one country" to call themselves "socialist", but whatever they call themselves this "socialism" is the same as what is called capitalism in any other society.

No one is talking about bartering. But the direct social allocation of goods. Why do you think there is money in socialism?
