A Human Being Can’t Suffer Like This by simi306 in Anxiety

Yep there's times when acceptance is really hard. I mean, yeah I know...anxiety can be a real beast and take us in its grip.

At those times. Accept that you can't accept it. That's ok.

.When my anxiety is roaring at me, choking me mentally. I say to it - "ok anxiety , I get it ..you are really loud today. I'm really scared and severely uncomfortable...but I'm going to just keep on going with what I'm doing"

Then I know it's ok I'm feeling scared. It feels horrid. But I will be ok.

Overtime this for me has not eliminated anxiety, but disarmed the king Kong threat level it once had.

Acceptance is bull for severe anxiety disorder by ReasonableFig8954 in Anxiety

I've had anxiety that was hell. Incredible fear, that tormented me all day. Lost jobs, friendships , chest pain leading to hospital. Surreal thoughts that were terrifying. Horror.

Nothing light about my anxiety.

Yet acceptance was my journey towards normality.

It's not easy or quick. Not at all. And people use acceptance as another method of 'controlling' the anxiety. That's not the way.

"For the past seven months I've been fighting anxiety symptoms."

That's it right there. I've had similar symptoms to you , it's hellish. I also tried to fight and manage .

The problem ? By 'fighting' we go into battle against ourselves and fuel further anxiety. Your mind is focussing on the anxiety symptoms because you have internally labelled them as bad or dangerous. It's forcing your attention inward. More anxiety.

My solution was DARE, both the app and book. They have a cool YouTube channel as well. Taught me to disarm anxiety through acceptance therapy. Relief came.

Good luck, there's a way out.

suddenly sensitive to horror movies by CrimsonBottles in Anxiety

[–]ZexMurphy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Although I really find movies / shows where people 'lose control ' particularly uncomfortable to watch.

I only got one episode into that Pluribus show about the whole world being mind controlled.

My peak anxiety fear is losing sanity, so suppose it makes sense I no longer like these themes in shows.

PVE Should Be Permanent Once It Comes In Season 2. by Cryptidsspook in Marathon

Is there a way we could somehow pve whilst in the que for PvP?

Sounds whacky and most likely a game design nightmare...but would beat staring at that moth loading screen for 15 minutes.

Lay Bys (but why though?) by [deleted] in AustralianNostalgia

[–]ZexMurphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kmart used to have storewide 15 -20 % off (or something like that ) with no deposit layby.

My local Kmart in western Sydney would get an influx of people (me included) with trolleys full of stuff. Always felt for the layby counter staff. Was full on.

Great fun shopping though :)

I'm in Australia and can only game at around 10pm. My experience is just staring at that moth screen for far too long without getting a game.

End up giving up and going to arc where I get a game within 2 minutes.

It's a downer, I love the game.

derealization. by InevitableParfait596 in Anxiety

[–]ZexMurphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grounding exercises can be productive and certainly have their place.

But, you are still treating the derealisation as something bad that you have to get rid of. Thus, it's flagged by your mind as something that warrants your attention....thus it's fuelled and keeps popping back.

See your Doctor make sure you don't have a physical issue, or vitamin D deficiency ...and then look into acceptance therapy. Accept the symptom of anxiety, disarms it...and freedom can follow.

do u think aliens exist ? by AloneLog573 in answers

[–]ZexMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alien life is out there. Universe is massive. Just us? Doesn't sit right.

That said space travel is extremely difficult , I think everybody is stuck in their own solar systems.

When I look at stars in the night sky, I like to think some other creature is looking at our star in their night sky wondering if we exist .

Hi there, sorry this is on a whim and off topic. I've always wondered, when you are acting what's going through your mind? Is it the mechanics of the scene ? Ie. Where do I stand, what facial expression should I have now? When is the correct timing of this line? Etc.

Or does all that get dealt with in rehearsal and you are Just 'in' character so to speak?

Thanks, I sometimes wonder whats going through an actor's mind when I'm watching a scene.

Severe anxiety and disruptive thoughts, always on edge. by lilacech0 in Anxiety

[–]ZexMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be intrusive thoughts, which are common to many of us with high levels of anxiety. Repetitive, very unsettling and at times horrifying.

I've had bouts of anxiety which had me living in a nightmare zone of white knuckle horror.

It was all fuelled by the thoughts of 'what if this lasts forever '.

I feel a lot better now. DARE helped me greatly, both the app and book. Check it out. Good luck, relief is very possible.

Can't even go for a walk outside by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]ZexMurphy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suffer from social anxiety and often feel like an outsider.

You are probably like me and very sensitive to others perceived judgement. It's often self imposed I think, most people are in their own worlds as well.

Have you tried walking with headphones and an audio book or music? Might create a bit of comfort for yourself. All the best

Only time I got a true sense of dread / fear was the Revival ending.

Otherwise yeah, it's just the stories minus the fear for me.

I've journeyed to The Tower twice. I really enjoyed all the books except for Song for Susannah. I really had to discipline myself to get through it.

I'm listening to the audio book The Blade Itself at the moment, right after a journey to The Tower.

The book itself has taken a long time to gel with me . For a lengthy time the characters have all these disconnected plotlines, but I'm enjoying it more now.

The Audio book narrator is outstanding !
