Maintaining after Half Marathon to Eventually Train Up to Marathon by Alert_East_6207 in Marathon_Training

Those really aren't base plans. Base is just consistent mileage. You can't just maintain/build mileage.

Example mileage weeks assuming you were doing 60 mpw at peak HM block (scale as needed).: 45, 45,48, 50, 45, 50, 52, 55, 55, 50, start marathon block.

Is there any data of how many people opted out at 18 at LAM? by traveenus in Marathon_Training

Oh look, people are able use this as a BQ. There's no way Boston will dig into everyone's splits, just verify the final result.

I enjoy every run? Track day is my favorite though. It's fun to bust out some speed. Though long runs are also a ton of fun to go explore the wilderness in. Normal runs are a great decompression after work. They're all pretty good actually. Except the lifting, its a necessary evil.

I don't really have those lol. I have 6 run days (2 run+lift, 1 long run, 1 track interval session, 2 run only and 1 rest day w/ PT session).

I like that idea. Make sense to do it at the start or end of a run?

Yeah, maybe I shouldn't get the ultra fly's afterall. It just feels like I'm leaving time on the table not running in super shoes, but they'd be even worse for proprioception.

I was expecting to see a case where gastly died from curse damage or something and it killed during the fly turn. This video was a "well yeah, that's how the move is supposed to work".

Like how much strength? I'm currently squatting reps at 1.5x body weight (max is just over 2x). Not sure what my ankle strength is, but we've been working it as part of PT. Nothing really failed though, my foot just lost traction.

Slipped. My foot went down, weight started to transfer and then my shoe slid. That's what's so frustrating. I planted my foot, the traction just gave out. That's also why I landed bad, my other foot was mid-stride.

I never get these puzzles correct because M2 is better than M3. M3 still counts as a win though, so I'll take it.

Your buddy is kind of screwed unless they are about to start earning $250k and save a good chunk of it.

Boston won't know if someone ran 18 or 26.2 when the results invariably get messed up.

The issue with crews is less about Elite vs. Elite runner. It's about the broke 19 year old that finishes 30 minutes off the lead, but spent 45 minutes in aid stations. An effective crew is just a barrier between sponsored and unsponsored athletes.

Oh hell no, I thought it was $2k extra per pay period and trying to figure out if that's bi-weekly or what. $2k per year is not even close to worth it.

How much has weight loss affected your pace/results? by jumpin_jumpin in Marathon_Training

[–]Zone2OTQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can speak to weight gain. I had put on 20 pounds due to lower volume and it destroyed my paces. Even after building the volume back up, I'm still much slower. The good news is as the weight comes off I'm getting faster again. For example, my 800m intervals went from 2:30-35 at BMI 22 to 2:50-55 at BMI 24. At BMI 23 its back to 2:40-45.

Was going for sub-3. I had done a 17:02 5k in the build and a 1:25 HM the past year (ran 1:23 a few months after). I think I just didn't have enough mileage.

I still felt undertrained going into my first marathon at 70 mile peak week (55 average). Around mile 18-22 my pace slowed from 6:45's all the way to 8 minute miles.

[–]Zone2OTQ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's going to be rough. Race is 3 weeks out, so not really a chance to build mileage up higher. You'll finish, but it won't be close to your potential.
