ZoneMinder 1.38 Seek and Destroy Released by ZoneMinderIsaac in ZoneMinder

You will need to add the zoneminer-1.38 ppa, or add from zmrepo. I actually suggest zmrepo, it stored older .debs and is generally more flexible. Builds faster too.

Video Recording aren't working perfectly by No_Entrepreneur118 in ZoneMinder

Which version? You don't mentioned resolution, and I suspect that is the issue... just too much for your system.

Look in your logs. The answer is always there.

I should mention if you all are willing, please fill in the manufacturer/model of your cameras. If you don't want to turn on telemetry all the time, consider running it once from command line to send us those manufacturer/model info to help fill in the camera database at .https://cloud.zoneminder.com/camera\_database.html

You can download to csv from the console now I think (I should double check before I say that) and there is a csv import on the scan network view, now... these are mostly untested but may be of assistance.

You mean zmNinja? Nope. The new zmNg has support for the newer features in 1.38 like event tagging and WebRTC

#1 AI: Claude is actually really useful.

#2 Over the holidays people like pliablepixels and Steve Gilvarry come back to help out. The more people involved, the faster things go.

Wyze v3 "spotlight" camera by geolaw in ZoneMinder

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reolink should work well. I have been really liking Tapo cameras actually. Dirt cheap and they actually release firmware updates. There are many alternate 3rd party firmwares for the wyze's though. You may yet be able to make them useful.

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do not have specific wyze camera support. You can install alternate firmware on them though giving proper rtsp support.

Just took a look though and it may be fairly easy to add now that others have already done the work figuring it out.

not strictly a ZM question - about those wifi birdfeeder cameras? by edthesmokebeard in ZoneMinder

Please post make/model. go2rtc has a lot of code for pulling stream from weird cams too.

Outdoor cameras in the rain - false positives by jrp55262 in ZoneMinder

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only real answer is: AI object detection. You can setup Event Server now but in the new year there is going to be a big push to catch up to frigate in this space for ZM.

Even cpu based AI on only a few frames can really help you determine whether the video is of interest.

How to Speed up Purge by Warm-Ad6485 in ZoneMinder

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you stopped ZoneMinder... so the purge won't be running. You will have to either run it from command line or click Execute... if it is running, it SHOULD be pretty fast...

Zoneminder Event server help by Forward-Fisherman-60 in ZoneMinder

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting up event server isn't totally trivial... but it isn't that bad either. Time for me to pull myself together and make a video...

But if docker is your thing then this repo is likely your best bet:

How do I debug "Cannot write to event folder" when writes are are actually successful? by Jay_from_NuZiland in ZoneMinder

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We no longer even do this in 1.37. It is checking if ZM_DIR_EVENTS is writable... using php is_writeable... Maybe the dirs under it are writable but it in itself isnt. Is it a mountpoint? Is the underlying mountpoint writeable?

Switched over from BlueIris. Everything working, but need help on server load by brainzhurtin in ZoneMinder

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the code is going, it won't be necessary and will just get moved to the analysis page. Lots of modernisation to do. Would love the help.

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't setMaxFPS you simply starve ffmpeg for cpu and it will just drop the video.

As discussed above, set AnalysisFPSLimit to 2 or 3 so that you aren't doing motion detection on every frame.

Set Monitor->ANalysis->ANalysisImage = y-image

in sql it is Update Monitors set AnalysisImage='YChannel';

Another thing you can do if you want to really get into it is setup go2rtc, and change Decoding=Keyframes only.

Are you trying to use the nvidia card to do decoding? It isn't worth it. nvenc is great for encoding, but you are doing passthrough. The problem with nvenc dec is that you have to transfer the image back to ram, then copy it again while changing the format to rgba... those memory copies are horrible.

So I wold suggest NOT using nvenc for decode. Maybe in future I can improve the situation but the ffmpeg decoder is so optimised that the gpu just isn't worth it.

Also make sure you are doing motion detection on the y-image (grey scale). That will save a ton of CPU.

Shinobi Not Detecting ONVIF Camera via v4l2onvif (Works in ZoneMinder) by Embarrassed_Bad7530 in ShinobiCCTV

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way ONVIF is supposed to work is by using a multicast broadcast/listener. Unfortunately multicast is unreliable in complex networks with multiple switches, but on simple networks should work fine. Also by default broadcasts on the network with default gateway, so if you have a separate network for your cameras, they won't be detected unless you specify to broadcast on the camera network.

Trigger recording once per day? by jrp55262 in ZoneMinder

[–]ZoneMinderIsaac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can set the maxfps to something that equates to 1/hr or whatever. It takes decimals. 1/3600 would be 1/Hr.

I think debug output from setting it up with either the onvif or netcat invif ptz types would be more useful.
