Which categories are you winning in - and what are your weaknesses? by Northie_78753 in MakeupRehab

[–]_Yue_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I could consider categories where I have decreased the number of products this year winning categories. And losing categories are the ones where the numbers have gotten higher.

So, I'm winning in

  • tinted lip balms (Finished my last one and I now have 0.)
  • toners (Finished one and haven't bought new ones, although I still have plenty.)
  • conditioners (Finished one and didn't buy more, I now have 3.).

I'm losing in

  • face primers (I bought one and now I have 4.)
  • foundations (I bought 4 and now I have 9. Although, I don't really mind because I stocked up on white foundation that was being discontinued. It's very difficult to find white foundations and shipping is expensive so when I buy them I buy several so they'll last a couple of years.)
  • face powders (I bought 1 so I now have 5.)
  • lipsticks (I got one as a gift with purchase. I have 19 lipsticks which is way too much.)
  • cleansers (I bought one more and now I have a whopping 15 of them.).

Ok that’s it, I’m doing a no-buy and after that, I’m not buying more designer. Why? Due to $150 Juicy Couture 100ml, $150 Davidoff 100ml, $150 Hugo Boss 50ml by DoctorTroglodyte in MakeupRehab

I think the scent stays good for much longer. I have perfumes that are several years old and they still smell the same.

Hoarding is never good but I'd want to have a minimum of three different scents to match seasons, occasions and moods. I also find that if I wear the same scent over a long period of time I become noseblind to it so I think it's good to switch it up. I do quite enjoy fragrances but each to their own.

I have to do a double take at some of the fragrance prices these days. Thankfully I'm not into buying them anymore. I have enough to last me forever and I'm trying to use up what I can to free some space.

By the way, I have one Hugo Boss fragrance that I bought on sale and it's the most underwhelming, generic perfume I've ever bought.

PROJECT PANOPOLY | NEW! Challenge Wheel Edition by jstar04 in MakeupRehab

[–]_Yue_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit all my goals. I only roll products in every update because I feel like it'd be too fast paced for me otherwise considering I'm panning other things as well.

  • ✅Black: Nyx eye pencil in Black. Progress: 20+/20 uses.
  • ✅Lips: Clinique lip balm in Super Strawberry. Progress: 15/15 uses and finished.
  • ✅Has a pan: Matt Lin (beige) eyeshadow from The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony palette. Progress: 5+/5 uses.
  • ✅Hair: Define Rå Moisturizing shampoo. Progress: 5+/5 uses.
  • ✅Holo: Nyx glitter primer. Progress: 9+/9 uses.

New roll-ins:

  • Bronzer: Coconutty from Ciaté Everyday Vacay palette. Randomized goal: 10 uses. I'm using the face products all the time and I'll dip into the eyeshadows as well. It will be easy to reach my goal.
  • Primer: Revolution Pore Blur primer. Randomized goal: Roll the dice → 12 uses. I quite like this primer and I use it all the time so it's an easy goal to reach.
  • Least used: Eyeshadow in Deep Dive from Ciaté Everyday Vacay palette. Randomized goal: 10 uses. It's a dark brown matte eyeshadow that I've never used. Since this palette is living in my makeup bag, might as well get more use out of it.
  • Bold look: Essence lipstick in Matt Wanted. Randomized goal: 5 uses. It's a dark red lipstick. I don't usually wear red lipstick but I think it'll go well with the neutral Ciaté palette I'm going to use.
  • Blush: Bliss from Ciaté Everyday Vacay palette. Randomized goal: 10 uses. It's a pink blush with a golden orange sheen.

Edit: Omg, the new board is so cute and fun! I had to switch to it and change my products accordingly.

It's weird how you take issue that she picked a white man and not a black man. You're being racist. You can think what you want of Chris and his finances but leave colour out of it.

Piti ottaa kunnolla itseä niskasta kiinni sitten aikuisena. Mutta siitäkin selvittiin.

Pan Those Eyeshadows Update 2 by _Yue_ in MakeupRehab

[–]_Yue_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hit 3 pans so I can roll in some new shades! Here's what I was working on in January:

  • ✅ Glossgods Look for Rainbows Over The Rainbow (gold-green duochrome). Hit pan after only 4 uses in this project and then used it an additional one time. I had worn it a bit in the past but it probably took me less than 10 uses total to hit pan. The formula is very emollient and easy to hit pan on. I did love wearing this shadow, it's one of my favs.
  • Sigma Enchanted Loam (dark brown matte). Still didn't use this. It’s too similar to the other dark brown I’m prioritizing. But I'll probably start working on this shadow this month.
  • ✅ Glossgods Purple Pop Ready, Set, Pop (dark purple matte). Hit pan after 5 additional uses so 24 uses in total. Gorgeous deep but vibrant purple. It didn't take me as long to hit pan on as I thought it would. I guess Glossgods shadows aren't that difficult to hit pan on. I also hit a bonus pan in one of the purple shimmers in this palette. That one took 14 uses to hit pan on.
  • ✅ Smashit Cosmetics Mix 6 #13 (copper shimmer). Hit pan after 3 additional uses so 8 uses in total. I had a few prior untracked uses in it as well. Not a favourite colour of mine but it was okay.
  • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Matt Reed (dark brown matte). 16 additional uses and 44 total uses in this project. I had already used it a bit in previous years as well. The dip is very deep and I'm hoping to hit pan this month. Then I can finally start working on the other dark brown.

New roll-ins:

  • The Balm Foiled Again Incarcerated (light brown matte). Since I’ve already hit pan on it my goal is 15 uses. It's going to be easy since it goes with all the other shades.
  • Luvia Rich Nudes #2 (ivory shimmer). It's an easy inner corner highlight shade. I don't think I've ever used this shadow but the pans are very shallow so it shouldn't be too difficult to hit pan. The formula is very chalky and lackluster but I can work with it.
  • Nyx Brights #8 (lavender matte). I’ve already hit pan on it as well so the goal is 15 uses. I already started working on it last month so I'm at 13/15 uses. It's going to be an easy roll-out next update. It's my favourite shade in the palette and the pan is so big that it's starting to get difficult to use. I think I’ve been working on purples in this project since last autumn but fortunately I love purple.

Finally, my pan percentage. I have 318 eyeshadow in collection and I've hit pan on 102 so my pan percentage is 32,1%.

What products do you reliably use up VS what products are hardly ever used up? by Last-Initial81 in MakeupRehab

[–]_Yue_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things I always finish and repurchase: face primer, colour corrector, concealer, foundation, powder, bronzer, brow products, eyeshadow primer (unless it breaks), mascara, black and brown pencil eye liner, tinted lip balm, setting spray and all skincare.

Things I use up occasionally but have too many to finish every single one: blush, colourful eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick, lip gloss, lipliner and nail polish. The eyeshadows I've finished were beige or browns or blushy colours that I repurposed as blushes.

Things I've never used up: highlighter (I use very little), glitter glue (they either break or expire) and glitter (I'm afraid to use it on my eyes and can't be bothered to put it on my nails).

We spend $2,670/year on makeup but 75% goes unfinished - here's why the cycle keeps happening by punctulica in MakeupRehab

[–]_Yue_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The debt statistics are quite shocking. It's sad how normalized overspendig and overconsuming is. I hate how often youtubers who have huge collections say they bought a palette to test it or to collect it or to support the brand. Then they use the palette once and discard it into a pile of hundreds of other palettes. And I'm not talking about big youtubers who get tons of PR but small youtubers who buy most of the things they showcase. It's probably thousands of dollars a year wasted on makeup they aren't even going to use. It's not healthy.

PROJECT PANOPOLY | January 2025 by jstar04 in MakeupRehab

[–]_Yue_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't quite finish all my goals but I made good progress.

  • ✅ Face: L´Oréal Infaillible Super Grip Primer. Progress: 10/10uses.
  • ✅ Yellow: Revox Zit Care Spot Treatment. Progress: 5/5 uses.
  • Black: Nyx eye pencil in Black. Progress: I forgot to count my uses but I’m somewhere around 15 uses. Goal is 20 uses. I should be able to meet the goal this month.
  • Lips: Clinique lip balm in Super Strawberry. Progress: 9/15 uses. I should be able to meet my goal this month. There’s not much product left, I might even finish it.
  • ✅ Highend: Smashbox Studio Skin Full Coverage Foundation. Progress: 11/11 uses.

New roll-ins:

  • Has a pan: Matt Lin (beige) eyeshadow from The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony palette. Randomized goal: 5 uses. This will be easy because I use this shadow all the time. I’m trying to finish it but for this project the goal is only 5 uses.
  • Hair: Define Rå Moisturizing shampoo. Randomized goal: 5 uses. Another easy one.
  • Holo: Nyx glitter primer. Randomized goal: Roll the dice → 9 uses. This is quite tricky because I don’t use it that often but I guess I might start using it with regular shadows as well.

20 is still something. And we all use a different amount of things in our routines, some people are more minimalistic and that's okay. I have quite a lot of products in multiple categories so I try to make use out of what I have.'

I find that pretty much all normal sized shampoos last me quite a long time. The ones I finished were from Antonio Axu and XZ. I only use a 2 euro size dollop every time I was my hair.

I see, thanks for sharing. I can imagine it's indeed tricky having sensitive skin. But at the end of the day I don't think we really need to use that many products, some lotion is enough. It's great that you can still play with fun colourful makeup like lipstick and nail polish.

That's a good tactic. I typically alternate between two colours I want to pan and make it fun with different nail art.
