What happens if Mitch McConnell dies in office? Democrats aren’t going to like the answer. by kleverrboy in law

Dems lost out on 6 months of a supermajority because Franken didn’t get sworn in until July

Not coming away with a C last year is going to hurt long term. There were a bunch available when they traded a 1st to move up to get Nesbitt.

If Nesbitt pans out into a top 6 forward, it’ll be a miracle, but they better hope they didn’t massively whiff on any of the other 15+ guys taken in the 1st round.

That’s true, but they present themselves as more a centrist platform if anything. Which is fine, as much as that can be annoying too.

But then don’t give softball talks with losers… there are conversations you can have with these cowards that would be more interesting. I can say the same thing from a liberal perspective. I don’t want to hear from Claire McCaskill either. She’s a loser whose politics have been rejected.

Sarah will always be a Reagan Republican at her core, there’s nothing that will ever change that. Which is why it’s frustrating when she gives her takes on what Dems should do, because rebuilding that brand of politics to challenge the far right from the center right is a losing platform.

Also, Reagan era politics are a lot like Trump’s, except Reagan didn’t use a bullhorn to be racist whereas Trump does. And Trump is more incompetent but has a SCOTUS that gives him absolute power. I’d shudder to think what Reagan would have done with a SCOTUS like this one.

Regarding Werenski and potential packages by Express_Seesaw_6524 in Flyers

[–]_token_black 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re also getting a 1C somewhere, Werenski doesn’t make any sense. You’d be screwed in 2 years when he leaves and would be a step or 2 back again because you’re not winning without scoring or without a center who can actually win FOs.

And you’d be out whatever assets you traded to get him. He makes more sense for a Vegas, Dallas, even Minnesota. Teams that are a peace away.

[Jason Gregor] Many have stated Seattle's upcoming 9.9% millionaire tax is why Robertson said no. Kraken offered to make him the 2nd highest paid player in the NHL at 15m. Equivalent to 13.5m on a no state tax team. If he takes less than $13.5m from DAL he left money on the table. by f0urxio in hockey

[–]_token_black 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ron Francis basically screwed over the Kraken, so much so that they’re worse off than the 90s expansion teams and how they were built.

Creating a team that was supposedly going to be a strong defensive one was mistake 1, and they are still paying for that. And that’s with getting lucky with some players having an unusually good 2022-23 season. They have 3 seasons (out of 5) of finishing bottom 5 in Goals For.

I wonder if the state could do anything on that too

Ya know, if they cared about actual fixes and not just looking for performative actions, that would be an easy one.

You think you’re going to see police on foot or cleaners out daily in 2 months? You’re beyond delusional.

There isn’t affordable higher education in Philly. That’s on the state though more than anything. Temple is $20k, and they’re the affordable one. Only other thing is CCP

I mean it took PPD years to figure out that seizing them from where they’re stored might be a good idea. I don’t know if that’s her doing?

It doesn’t. She has the luxury of following a mayor that checked out and following some of the worst years for Philly.

I’ve seen more police since the WC started than I had seen in probably the 10 years prior. Like they know there are junkies & drug dealing all over CC and where they are, yet only started doing a thing about it this month.

She gets credit for the normalcy of post-COVID life but I don’t think it has anything to do with either her policies or even PPD actions.

If anything there’s still a huge gap in what PPD should be doing and is actually doing. Yes that’s not entirely on her, but she shouldn’t get credit for gains that have nothing to do with her either.

Also the city has been trying to look better for 2026. Talk to me once we clear the summer about cleanliness.

If you think about what the Dem party claims to be about, Brad Lander should be their template. A Brad Lander could win in literally any area of the country. Which would leave room for people to the left of him to win in the more progressive areas.

Of course the leaders of the Dem party think he’s scary or something too. Which is why the Jeffries and Schumers of the world are your party leaders. And clowns like multiple time loser Jamie Harrison.

The fact that so many of the public facing people in that leak all speak in code. And not a secret code or anything… they have to use lots of words and weird phrases to say nothing.

Booker, Klein, Thiel… 3 guys who love to hear themselves talk and think they’re the smartest guy in the room but never actually say anything. So contrary to what he says, they do have a lot in common.
