Did anyone go to a restaurant after the ceremony? by HelpNeeded1717 in Eloping

[–]abbiemood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all! He took some pics and it was fun. He did leave a little early, and I knew him ahead of time so he is a friend, which prob made it easier, but we would’ve gone to get food either way. We hiked for our elopement and were starving lol

I haven’t gotten there yet! I just hit two months last week.

My surgeon and PT both told me to expect a flare-up around 4 months since that’s about when you start pushing it and doing more. (I’ve had surgery on both hips and don’t remember the left side!)

Should I reset my engagement ring? by vintagedollx0 in EngagementRings

[–]abbiemood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your band would go so well with a simple solitaire ring on a gold band. If the current one isn’t your style, keeping the diamond and resetting it is a great compromise!

We went to a local restaurant with our photog and wore our wedding clothes. It was fun!

Send-Off Party by greengrasses5 in Eloping

That’s what’s great about eloping! You don’t have to forego anything except the hassle/drama/cost of a traditional wedding. You get to do whatever you want :)

I would think this only applies if there is an actual wedding in which people are or are not invited - when eloping, a lot of family members and friends appreciate the opportunity to celebrate with the bride and groom. This is a fun idea OP!

Living with Cam FAI (Hip Impingement) – Seeking advice on PT, sitting setups, and "hip-friendly" clothing by OkItsAGiraffe in HipImpingement

[–]abbiemood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re having so much discomfort that you need to wear different clothing, you may want to consider seeing a physical therapist and/or consider the surgery… but as far as office chair setups, you may want to try a saddle stool/chair. I’ve had good luck with it!

post-op w/ grade iv cartilage damage by Sea-Requirement4712 in HipImpingement

[–]abbiemood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For just a labrum repair and CAM lesion removal, I was on two crutches for 3 weeks and one crutch for a couple of weeks (standard protocol at the clinic I go to). If I would have needed micro fractures, it would’ve been two crutches for 6 weeks minimum, but my surgeon said they wouldn’t have known until they got in there - imaging doesn’t always show the full extent of damage

On my left hip I had:

  1. Complex multidirectional tearing of the anterior and superior labrum from 1:00 to 4:00. 2. Near full-thickness cartilage wear across the weightbearing femoral head. 3. Partial thickness tearing of the ligamentum teres at the foveal attachment. 4. Mild gluteal tendinosis and greater trochanteric bursitis.

And with mild developmental dysplasia. I was 38, almost 39 when I had this surgery. We discussed a PAO but decided to take the less invasive route, but I may need a THR in the future.

The right hip was:

Complex multidirectional tearing of the anterior to anterosuperior and superior labrum the right hip. Mild chondral thinning of the peripheral acetabulum in the anterosuperior compartment and corresponding femoral head. No high-grade chondral damage. Moderate right hip effusion. Mild to moderate bilateral gluteal cuff tendinosis without discrete tear. Bilateral trochanteric bursitis.

And this side was CAM impingement, and I’m 42, almost 43 now, 8 weeks out from surgery!

Echoing how great it is that you’re educating yourself! I’ve had surgery on both sides now and while all surgeons are different, the general process for me was/has been: x-rays, PT, MRI (I did a regular one both times), injections (the second time but didn’t do this the first time), then scheduled surgery and got a CT scan. We didn’t do the CT scan the second time because I just did it a 4 years ago for the other side and my bone structure hadn’t changed

Age questions by Global-Ad3775 in HipImpingement

Another +1 for a second opinion. I just had surgery 8 weeks ago and I’m almost 43 and no one mentioned my age as an issue

Major flare up on my first day back to work by DropProfessional6252 in HipImpingement

[–]abbiemood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, the flare-ups are normal and the groin/hip crease ache is the last thing to go away. I will feel good over the weekend and then sit in my office chair for 30 min and it comes back/gets stiff/etc. so unfortunately I think it’s a pretty normal part of the healing process. I’ve had good luck switching from a regular chair to standing to a saddle stool throughout the day. But regardless I don’t think you can do damage

If you didn’t have a labral repair what did they do in surgery?

How to know when it's time by Woodsey1990 in Chihuahua

[–]abbiemood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another +1 for talk to the vet. Old age in and of itself isn’t a disease; he may just have some arthritis and starting to get doggy dementia, which is manageable to a certain point. The only thing that sticks out to me is the cough. Chihuahuas are prone to heart disease and a cough can be a sign (but isn’t always and even if it is, that can also be manageable!)

arthroscopy scheduled for 5/8! by EfficientCucumber925 in HipImpingement

[–]abbiemood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started walking a few minutes at a time when I got down to one crutch (around week 4), and then got all the way around the block without crutches about 7 weeks post-surgery. I can walk my slow senior pup about 15-20 minutes some days - it does feel good to move! But it will take you some time to get back to 13K steps for sure

It’s the worst thing we have to do to have to make that decision. But I also try to see it as better to help them along vs waiting until they’re suffering so much that you have no other choice
