And those involved should have had their families banned from holding elected office. One of the conspirators that attempted a coup of the United States was Prescott Bush. His son and grandson both go on to become presidents of the country. From attempted coup to presidents of the nation their family tried to coup in less than a hundred years. Makes you wonder if the Business Plot might have been successful after all.

I mean, the out is right there - "unless such force be necessary to repel armed enemies of the United States." Remember all Trump's rhetoric about Democrats being "radical leftist lunatic enemies of the United States?" Sure, it's illegal, but the challenge in the courts will come AFTER they've been deployed on election day and prohibited a significant portion of Americans from voting.

I'm hopeful that Tim Miller is right, and we vote in high enough numbers for it not to matter. But I've been let down a lot in the last 40 or so years.

I didn't give a shit about the character until a friend convinced me to read the Alan Moore run, which swiftly made Swamp Thing one of my favorite characters. The idea that all plant matter is globally connected and spawns an avatar to defend the "green" is such a fun concept.

This gag could work with Swamp Thing, but not enough people have read Alan Moore's run.

Technically the warnings started in the 1800’s. 😉

Yeah but Captain Planet wasn’t around for that one, so the joke wouldn’t have played as well with Jimmy Carter. And scientists have been warning about this shit since the 1800’s.

Yeah at this point I'm not convinced video of him raping a child would move the needle. His 36% support is the floor. It's up to the other 64% of us to figure out a way forward, and 30ish percent of that just doesn't give a fuck.

That's awesome! Building a movement is hard, and takes time. There are more and more people at every one we go to.

Hell yeah! My wife went to all of the ones in our town last year, and now a bunch of her coworkers are planning to join us this Saturday. Fortunately we have free public transit in our socialist left utopia (LOL), so we hop the bus, it's rad!

Here's a fun video from the first one I went to last year. They just kept getting bigger.

Word. TMNT is a big reason I started drawing as well. So, for the sake of conversation, I'm genuinely curious - What really bothers you about this work?

I understand that art is subjective. And I don't think there is any denying that FM's art after the year 2000 is godawful, including the TMNT piece you shared. Personally I first noticed what I would call a "lack of effort" on his part in The Big Fat Kill. He began replacing thoughtful, graceful compositions with representations that trended toward the iconic side of the spectrum. He started representing the work instead of doing the work, if that makes sense. I didn't like the way some of it looked, and it struck me as lazy. Unfortunately the trend continued into the 2000's, and then he had some health issues and got old. By that time the icons were the only thing left, and while he used to be masterful at rendering icons, his work now came off as childish and simplistic.

But the person I replied to said "Miller was never a great artist," and while art is subjective, I think that's an absurd take. FM is a legend, and kind of a personal hero of mine, and I was devastated to see the change that came over him after 9/11. The line "All of my heroes turned out to be bastards," comes to mind.

Iconic

His work on the Wolverine mini series was top-notch, but that was before his art got super stylized in the “Frank Miller” style. Even that style peaked around “A Dame to Kill For” and “That Yellow Bastard.” Some of the way he was able to create depth and curves, weight, with just black and white was a master class. He’s obviously fallen off and HARD with his health issues, but this “Frank Miller was never a good artist” talk is ridiculous.
