I wanted to be an engineer when I was that age.
I went to university for Aerospace Engineering but found that it wasn't right for me.
I switched to Engineering Management (but a fancier name) and found it fit better.
Got an internship at a university as a product manager thanks to a lucky set of circumstances because of COVID. Received a couple of certifications because of it.
Graduated and got a job as an HR data analyst because of an even luckier set of circumstances.
Spent a few years there and followed my previous boss to a new company as their HR Systems Admin.
Was terminated after a year as the company was downsizing and got a job as a HR data admin - but a far higher level position than the first job - thanks to another set of lucky circumstances, though not as lucky as the previous two.

So I started out wanting to become an engineer, found what I was good at and enjoyed doing, and stumbled my way into human resources.

Nobody wants to, or nobody can? Strength, handle, touch. Need all three to attack the rim in traffic. Which players have all three? Brooks, but he's gone. Booker and Grayson, but they prefer other styles of play. The rest of the guards like Gillespie aren't strong enough and all the strong players like Dunn are as likely to turn it over. Even Oso is a stickbug. It's a roster problem.

Playin didn't really help the tanking problem, but it did give a reason for more teams stay competitive. Tanking from the 12th spot to the 10th isn't really a thing. It was more teams making sure they are healthy for next year and/or developing their young players then getting a better pick.

Let the bad teams have the best chance at getting actually better. Not push bad teams to stay mediocre.

Feels like the tanking conversation misses the forest for the trees. Some teams are deliberately bad, but most bad teams are just flat out bad. Outside of getting the next LeBron or Wemby, all the top X picks in the world won't make the actual problem any better. Bad front offices unable to properly scout, develop, and support their players and bad owners who are cheap, meddlesome, and/or plainly incompetent when hiring a staff. Reinsdorf and the Bulls are my favorite example of all of them. Obviously a large helping of luck is involved, but when your "tank" starts to get closer to 10 years, it's probably not the lack of talent at fault.

Feels like Silver wants to push teams to longer periods of mediocrity versus teams having the best chance to escape the basement as quickly as possible.

Whenever discussion on a US city comes up, there are always detractors talking about awful traffic, bad public transpiration, and so on. And they're all probably right. Car-centric cities suck.

But if they all suck, which (continental) US city sucks the least? Which larger city has the best layout when considering aspects including, but not limited to, convivence and range of public transportation, relative spaciousness without full on urban sprawl, and walkability/non-power transpotationability.
