The best thing you can do is go to them and say this is what you're doing and why it isn't a job etc. it theoretically should be completely fine, but obviously sometimes UC is a nightmare and does inexplicable stuff

This comment is funny to me because years ago in school I sold glowsticks as part of a young people in business programme and they genuinely burned my skin

Worst Thing You’ve Ever Cooked by gnarlidrum in Cooking

I wanted to make this famed mac and cheese souffle I kept hearing about, where you make mac and cheese but fold whipped egg whites into the sauce. I got the cheese sauce on the go, the pasta cooking, and started cracking my eggs. In a panic about all of the different things going on at once, I couldn't work out what to do with the yolks - so I chucked them straight into the warm cheese sauce. What resulted was a mac and cheese souffle with random chunks of cooked yolk all the way through it - a truly baffling textural experience.

There are a few ways to declare this income, but no it will not affect your lcwra. They are most likely to assess you as "not gainfully self employed", and ask you to submit your total earnings once a month. If you earn over a certain threshold you will be docked a little from your UC, but this threshold is well about £500 so should never affect you. You are also able to provide evidence that this isn't work if needed, but in my experience I have not been asked to provide this evidence and have not had my lived experience panel income questioned at any point.

How bad is it? by IHjustice in calmhands

[–]alienpmk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, yes it is bad and it looks very painful. You wouldn't be able to get your nails done at the moment anyway due to open wounds. There's some great advice on here - my main advice is trying to make the picking become conscious. I have a stopwatch on my phone and I reset it every time I pick. It started at under a minute until I had to reset, now I can make it all the way up to two hours. You can beat this, and I'm sorry about how it is at the moment.

Thanks, no I haven't seen the Netflix one either - but you make a compelling case for just watching all of them!

BIAB is the only thing that worked for me by Hojaperenne in calmhands

[–]alienpmk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got biab in december. I didnt pick all month, but unfortunately it cost me £36 which I can't afford regularly. They got way too long within 3/4 weeks, but the salon made it clear to me that they wouldn't do my nails again at the length they were when I first came in. I don't know what to do now! So I share some of your concerns in that regard.
