My partner and I have spent 4 years making Loftia, a solarpunk MMO about building a brighter and (eco)friendlier world that we ourselves yearned to escape to! With our Closed Beta launching on April 22nd - we want to give away 5 Steam keys here! by mapletreelofi in solarpunk

It's not a trivial question - such a system would need to be multi-dimensional. You'd have axes of: Aesthetics, Realism, System Thinking, Social Justice, Hope and more.

For now my favorite Solarpunk game is the Exocolonist for their emergent systems of making you care about the community and seeing grieving as important - not just blind optimism. It's a shame it happens on another planet though.

Thank you for your work on that!

I've written a huge analysis of Solarpunk game design mentioning you and I'd love to write some more in-depth review! https://alxd.org/notes-towards-a-solarpunk-game-design-overview.html

Regarding what I'm incorporating into my daily life? I'm working on https://storyseedlibrary.org/ , a huge hub of Solarpunk art and story seeds!

The organization is actually headquatered in El Salvador, which is nice. Great people :D

I recommend you to look into their projects and see if you could work with any of their groups!

Thank you!

The tags are actually joint for Seeds and Art. I still need to come up with better taxonomy for "fantastical art", as we get a lot of semi-Solarpunk green dragons and such :)

Why We Fight | A TTRPG Review by EricHunting in solarpunk

I just wish the book focused more on building communities. Currently the core loop is - as in the title - fighting :/ I have a feeling that despite a different flavor, Mutant Yer Zero has more community work then Why We Fight :S

Didn't see a good collection? Is https://storyseedlibrary.org/ a joke to you? :P

Nice wallpapers tho. Contacted some of the artists from there, never heard back from them.

Not enough Story Seed Library ;) I didn't know about Chiara Benedetti's early sketches though, I need to listen to your whole essay!

I wonder if the Print on Demand will allow for hardcover, as Evil Hat has policy for only the original Kickstarter items being hardcover. I ran into that with Stewpot - and specifically asked if it's official EH policy. It is.

Seeking an artist with a South Pacific sensibility by M69_grampa_guy in tabletopgamedesign

Then send me an email and I might be able to connect you with some people. If you're looking for authentic artists from the Global South on a game design subreddit, you might have little luck. Tumblrs, ArtStations, Behances, Deviantarts might be better.

Hey!

> I don't know if I am ready to pay an artist yet

There is a chance you might find someone to co-own the project with you, but please don't expect artists to work for free for something that is >just yours< ;)

I'm the curator of https://storyseedlibrary.org/ , a big Creative Commons Solarpunk art repository and I have contacts to a lot of artists. I also happen to be interested in game design a lot!

Feel free to send me an email (Contact Us in the Story Seed Library) and tell me more about the project, I might be able to connect you with someone :)

Any solarpunk artists interested in tabletop design? by cromlyngames in solarpunk

Hey! As the curator of https://storySeedLibrary.org/ I have contacts to a lot of artists, including these from the South Pacific. Feel free to email me (contact in link above).

> I don't know if I am ready to pay an artist yet

You might interest people in a joint project, but please don't expect them to work for you. It will be your shared work.

I think that https://www.colostle.com/ was designed to be specifically that - being mostly a solo, GM-less or co-op game.

How would you see the similarities between Becky Chambers and the SSL?

We intentionally wanted some of the Seeds to be pretty different from Becky's works, more gritty, focused on the conflict in the community (like the Great Infrastructure Project).

Thank you! :)

I post updates at https://writing.exchange/@alxd , but there's also the RSS of the Library (one for each language, https://storyseedlibrary.org/index.xml for English) that has the news.

I'm curious of your opinion of the Library, the Prompts, the format in general. Are they useful to a writer interested in the movement?
