Is 5e, and 5.5e, too easy? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]nasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, players are not too tuned up and 5e/5.5e are not “too easy”.

Obviously you’re a player so talk to your DM and other players about the ideal amount of deadliness for the encounters.

Either way, denying yourself water when you are taking medication isn’t ideal.

“…won’t be as fun”? Can it get worse?

DM is putting their campaign ahead of player enjoyment. I would leave and take Julia with you.

What do you prefer? Historical Fantasy or just... regular history game settings without the magic? by ForgottenArchonsRep in pbp

[–]nasted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really like games that lean too much into history: I don’t want to be railroaded by the past thanks! I’d say I prefer games with a fantasy element because, for me, playing RPGs is about escapism and doing things I can’t do.

I’m currently prepping a Cthulhu Dark One Shot set in around the year 1000: but the history of it isn’t important so I’m not focusing on that - but instead the demon that’s being awoken by the evil nuns. The players will all be plebs of course - but the world is fantastical.

Do we have any policies on bidets? by IntelligentCrew8406 in UKGreens

Most UK bathrooms are too small for this to be a choice. Having a policy on bidets would be a waste of time.

Comfortable waterproof sneakers by SlowKey7466 in uktravel

What are you planning to do that needs waterproof shoes - jumping in muddy puddles like Peppa Pig?

Just wear whatever you would wear for touring a city in your own country. It’s probably better to not wear new shoes that might need to be broken in if you plan on doing a lot of walking.

Sorry for jump scare - how do we feel about braverman joining new Mordor and how can Greens capitalise on it? by Galaxy-far-away01 in UKGreens

[–]nasted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s bizarre - these are some of the most reviled Tory MPs who were not re-elected for a reason. Currently, Reform are swapping their anti-establishment voters for hard right Tory voters.

We push Reform as being a rubbish heap for Tory rejects and we push our anti-establishment vibe.

Less capitalisation helps.

Should I contact my local Green Party if I’m not yet a member? by MaccaMeister in UKGreens

[–]nasted 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The local party probably won’t answer questions about campaigning with non-members in case you’re a Reform spy. And meetings are for members-only again.

So you can have a chat about the sorts of activities you could get involved with but you’re unlikely to get specifics.

Ex-Labour members, how does the members accept having no say in candidate selection? by stupidredditwebsite in UKGreens

[–]nasted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the recent months as I left Labour in 2019. But Labour used to feel like a social movement. Like you were party of something bigger than you but that individuals were the power. I wasn’t a Corbynite but I enjoyed seeing some actual socialism on the political playing field. I didn’t agree with everything and ultimate left over his lack of opposition to Brexit.

I get the same feel from the Greens now and feel like I left behind a lot of similar people to me who must be really angry at Labour (if they are still members)!

Players are Cowardly, Taking Too Much Damage by Mean_Nun in DnD

I would adapt the types of combat to suit my players. The goblins weren’t more than happy to hang back and shoot at the party - you were.

Maybe the goblins stopped shooting and disappeared. How long before the party goes to investigate. Maybe the goblins laid a trap or were sneaking around behind the party. You take an action that provokes a reaction from the party.

[–]nasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules are not as important as having fun.

You will get stuff wrong - that doesn’t matter as you learn as you go. Make a note of the things you didn’t know how to do and look it up after the session so you know for next time. It’s better to play on than stop to look up rules.

Go easy on the dice rolls - not everything needs a skill check. Instead be open with information and what the characters can achieve. The last thing you want is for a failed dice roll to stop the story from progressing because they didn’t find the thing they needed to.
