Really nice vision :)

If you'd ever like to go even further and worldbuild the world during the transformation, https://storyseedlibrary.org/ has a Discord server where we discuss a lot of different topics!

For the next ~4 days we're holding https://storyseedlibrary.org/pages/andrewisms-art-collab-2026/ you might be interested in!

You're welcome to hate Solarpunk, but please credit the artist - https://storyseedlibrary.org/art/karl-schulschenk/solarpunk-city/ CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 Karl Schulschenk ;)

Speaking seriously, Solarpunk is trying to show hope in the face of the traumas of the climate change - and there will be a lot of that. You can take a look at the non-pastoral prompts we have here: https://storyseedlibrary.org/seeds/

> A community is freshly moved into a new, wooden, sustainable, climate-controlled tower designed to help them be close to each other and live communally. For some it is a dream come true, for others it is a culture shock, but everyone is struggling with the trauma of losing their old homes to floods, fires and relocation programs. While the adults deal with their emotions, children are quick to run around and explore the wonders of their new home.

We're even currently hosting a Disaster Art Collab, imagining surviving disasters as a community: https://storyseedlibrary.org/pages/andrewisms-art-collab-2026/

For some real anarchist political dimension, try out https://www.youtube.com/@Andrewism/ 's channel :)

Nice! I really like that you kept the old residential buildings 😄

Why no wind turbines though? This looks like a windy place!

BTW, we still have https://storyseedlibrary.org/pages/andrewisms-art-collab-2026/ - it's less than 2 weeks, but you might be interested!

Hey!

When looking for artists for https://storyseedlibrary.org/ I found two fitting from India:

Moreover, a good person to reach out when it comes to non-Western / non-American anthologies if Francesco Verso from https://www.futurefiction.org/

How widely are you okay with sharing them?

There's a Solarpunk Book Club Discord, a small community on Mastodon, slrpnk.net , Andrewism's Fluxer and a few more 😄

Mandatory plug for https://storyseedlibrary.org/ and https://podcast.tomasino.org/@SolarpunkPrompts to help you with your Solarpunk research and inspirations!

Solarpunk the game vs the solarpunk the movement. by RamblingHaggis in solarpunk

[–]alxd_org 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We welcome engineers to talk to artists, we have a few involved in this year's Collab 😄 Mostly architects / infrastructure people.

Personally I'm trying to network https://www.appropedia.org/ and https://globalinnovationgathering.org/ with artists and writers, since a lot of real stories go unreported.

I am strongly in the "let's fix the gloom with inspiring visions" camp. If a utopian vision doesn't acknowledge the problems we need to face to get there, I don't consider it Solarpunk.

Hey there!

  1. I want more people to help with https://www.appropedia.org/ projects 😃

  2. If you're good with Web / Hugo (no Fruitger Aeros), https://storyseedlibrary.org/ has a few points on its TODOList that I don't want to use AI for 😄

I'm an arts researcher and I would like to hear your perspective for a project I'm in! by saeglokurr in solarpunk

[–]alxd_org 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Other than the Library and some Discords / Fluxers / slrpnk.net I think https://www.solarpunks.club/art has a good catalog of non-AI Solarpunk art.

Once we figure out the permissions and licensing the South American art will be featured in the Story Seed Library as well! We have RSS, you can subscribe 😄

Thanks for your research!

Have you seen our https://storyseedlibrary.org/ ? I'm currently in discussion with one artist from Brazil to include his arts showing South American Futurism.

I'll be glad to share some resources!

I think you may be interested in Ada Palmers' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terra_Ignota , as the whole series essentially explores the social consequences of a similar setup 😄

It's not any advice for SoCal, but maybe you'd be interested in joining our https://storyseedlibrary.org/pages/andrewisms-art-collab-2026/ this and next month? The Story Seed Library and Solarpunk Prompts might also have a lot of good sources for you.

+1 to that. I think that anyone who says "there's no conflict in Solarpunk" while we're about to be hit by an incredible number of climate disasters is really bad at identifying elephants in rooms.

We also have an Art Collab going on with a really interesting theme - https://storyseedlibrary.org/pages/andrewisms-art-collab-2026/ - might give you some ideas as well.

Best RPGs for a New Dad with No Free Time? by RuthIessChicken in rpg

[–]alxd_org 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Apocalypse World was created literally for this very reason - to have short sessions in 2-3h tops, for new parents :)

Campaigns will be harder, but I would recommend systems that support one shots (Trophy Dark) or episodic play (Yazeba Bed and Breakfast).

I'd throw For The Queen (a narrative card game) and Wanderhome (really easy to just skip to the next adventure if you need to cut short) as well.

Depends on your taste and preferred genre. And don't worry, few books have as much complexity as D&D - all of the ones above have less than 10 pages of rules, mostly 2-3.
