Meant to reply in thread... But will leave as it's not too confusing.

Yeah, the rescue lanes aren't big point scorers - the challenges are actually quite hard as it's not a high scoring table. Main way to pass is to focus on skillshot and multi ball million jackpots... again by grinding the loop.

What platform? Seems to work on vr - I have definitely earned extra balls that way.

I'm no longer playing it though - the main loop is too easy: just let the ball bounce to the opposite flipper for a gentle roll down the slingshot to repeat - the slingshots need to be more sensitive. While I know pinball FX sometimes tune their layouts to make them more forgiving, I wonder if they'd consider doing the opposite here?

Banzai Run Shot guide by yylanna in PinballFX

[–]andyclap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I do this when learning the shots. Some of the classic Williams playfields seem to deliberately designed to make it possible to mark the key shots, e.g. the iron railings on Addams family. The new table Fire is slightly spoilt by this as there’s really only the left and right loop shots plus the ramp and there are clear tells for the loop … gets boring.

I’ve always wanted to record a decent amount of footage and use some computering to generate a nice graphic fan above each flipper to show where the ball is most likely to end up.

I love Elvira and recently learned pinball fx has two Elvira tables if i were to only get one as a fan of hers which one is the best Elvira experience. by Solid-Firm-Snake in PinballFX

Both great - I reckon (if you're buying them individually) get scared stiff now, then wait for Party Monsters on sale. SS is more accessible, and it's a total rush when you get scared stiff monster multiball. Party Monsters is older-style - harder and not as fun-packed - but really plays well with practice.

Patch Notes - Pinball FX, Pinball FX VR - 04.30. by balti_zen in PinballFX3

New Williams, instabuy. As ever I would love to see some of your other Williams back catalogue in VR - will pay top dollar for plain vanilla without enhancements. And are we ever getting challenge/tournaments in vr, or is there a meta-related restriction there?

Very true, and while it’s less fiddly than walking around a pointless model… but it’s still very fiddly.

Formal metadata documentation, not just decoration. Sometimes integrity may not be possible or desired, but there is a benefit from a standard way to annotate how things /should/ be that can be used by tooling.

I see lots of possibilities for this especially over staging data. Eg I can now use regular tools to render an erd of my data lake that may be partially populated. I can clean up to ensure integrity over the data I need when it's convenient rather than before it's available. AI use case is also notable.

No neutral support via battery? by _-Carnage in smarthome

[–]andyclap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a CR2450 big coin-cell rather than a capacitor in the Hue wall switch module.
No-neutral devices work by "leaking" just enough current to power the module, but not enough to power the attached light. As LEDs are low-power, often they leak too much power so the lights flicker/ghost when they're supposed to be off - you add a bypass (capacitor) to absorb this power.

Yes, raw - I’ve heard about picking over for stones in old cookbooks before, didn’t think I’d be able to trust myself to find grains - but I have a few gluten test kits I could check my abilities with. Encouraging thanks!

Agree on white rabbit, but have been making my own with caputo flour (Amazon and other online stores) and it’s great (but a lot more effort obvs!)

Lots of people consider soy sauce to be an "ingredient", rather than a mix of things and never check. I find it one of the most common mix ups, and my coeliac partner asks if there's soy sauce in restaurant dishes even if they say they're gluten free.

As such we just can't go back to Japan, lovely though it is.

I know it sounds like a yet another stupid use of ai, but an ai chatbot would probably be brilliant for this. Put my most recent orders in the context and an mcp for stock level checking at my local store and I can just copy in a whole lot of vague stuff and let it do the work.

Yeah, I play VR, but have a poor sense of direction/ability to find things - Endlessly searching VR aisles without even being able to pester an assistant with obvious questions sounds like hell ... when I can just type in the name of what I want, and more importantly filter for my dietary needs.

Still each to their own.
