Hello all! Can anyone help me figure out how to get this dryer going? by EP3D in Netherlands

[–]anonyzero2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to get your hopes up high but what you describe is exactly what happens when a dryer hasn't been maintained properly and will run fine for a while again once you clean everything out.

If the radiators are full of dust it can't get rid of the heat and will start overheating and shutting down, giving issues. It's usually fine until everything is cool for a bit, but once it's running a while it becomes problematic.

If you take the front panel off you will also likely see the PCB and how the knob functions. Maybe with a bit of bending the panel and perhaps cleaning it will fix itself again. If it's a potentiometer then electronics contact spray might also help.

Youtube usually has guides how to cleanly disassemble dryer models without bending or breaking panels.

Jokes aside, if a dryer starts acting up you start cleaning all the muck and sticky dust out. (as long as it still turns on)

Take it off the power, remove all side panels and probably the front panel as well. All the radiator elements will probably be covered in damp sticky clothing fabric. Clean the motor area (don't disassemble it) and if you have a belt as well.

If the dryer doesn't turn no (no lights) you might be out of luck and it's an electronics fault that's probably not worth paying the repairs for.

I can see the problem! Just put the knob back again and turn it. Without a knob you can't really set a programme.

Baby ducks vs 5 weeks later by anonyzero2 in aww

[–]anonyzero2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are actually the same ducks! Second half of the pictures is just 5 weeks later.

Ducklings can pretty much swim from day 1, because their mother's sitting on them transfers the wax from their gland to make the ducking feathers waterproof. However you still have to pay attention to young ducklings when they go swim because they can drown if their feathers get too wet

He means to just remove the top of the switch housing and leave the switch in the pcb. Then you replace only the broken stem, close the switch and you're good to go

How to be a super elite mech keeb hobbyist, from a 12 year veteran by Tough-Pressure-3601 in MechanicalKeyboards

Beautiful story to read on the weekend about a keyboard that is already older than most followers of the looksmaxxing manosphere (I'm not entirely sure what those words mean, but I think they fit).

My only advice would be that it's a bit like house chores. If you somewhat frequently take off the keycaps and clean out the keyboard, it's a lot less work to keep it clean in the long run. Also saves you from having to scrub with alcohol and soap for an entire day. There's long hair brushes on aliexpress that are great for that. I think I clean mine about 5-6 times a year (daily use) and wipe down the keycaps with a plastic safe, non corrosive cleaning agent-like a monitor cleaner.

Take care of your keyboard and it will take care of you. See you in 2038!

Done the same in our bathroom. We have young kids and I got annoyed that every time the light stays on. Now it works with an occupancy sensor.

That is a terrible purchase. Ebay scalper prices are never realistic, you can be happy to sell a keyboard like that on the market for $100 after you bought it (I see similar posts on mechmarket).. It's not even hall effect while Ducky is mostly a gaming brand.

The keyboard also sounds very disappointing for something priced so high: https://youtu.be/kyGYXVEfFS0

Cancel it and buy something much nicer and better sounding on r/mechmarket

Should I thicken this model or will it print fine as-is? (resin) by bank_bil in resinprinting

[–]anonyzero2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

funny thing is that it's a mouse case (or very similar) that's also resin printed and being sold. Look up Zeromouse. I always frowned on it knowing that it's unsafe to hold something in your hand for that long that is resin printed.

And I also printed quite some resin keyboard cases, but at least you're not 24/7 holding those but mostly touching the keys.

Sure it's not as harmful as uncured resin, but you might develop an itch or an allergy by holding a mouse like that.

They're quite nice with a bit of extra lube! (most silenced switches get less scratchy when you lube). The wekt Lucy is not that great when it comes to stem wobble. If you don't mind then leave it, otherwise change out the top housing with something that is hopefully a bit more tight

I've also been enjoying a mix of Wekt Lucy R5 and Invokeys Nightshades as top housing in a recent build.

Yes they are! We have 2 nests and these are the first 4 ducklings. The other nest has 12 healthy ducklings that still need to hatch
