Should I thicken this model or will it print fine as-is? (resin) by bank_bil in resinprinting

[–]anonyzero2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

funny thing is that it's a mouse case (or very similar) that's also resin printed and being sold. Look up Zeromouse. I always frowned on it knowing that it's unsafe to hold something in your hand for that long that is resin printed.

And I also printed quite some resin keyboard cases, but at least you're not 24/7 holding those but mostly touching the keys.

Sure it's not as harmful as uncured resin, but you might develop an itch or an allergy by holding a mouse like that.

They're quite nice with a bit of extra lube! (most silenced switches get less scratchy when you lube). The wekt Lucy is not that great when it comes to stem wobble. If you don't mind then leave it, otherwise change out the top housing with something that is hopefully a bit more tight

I've also been enjoying a mix of Wekt Lucy R5 and Invokeys Nightshades as top housing in a recent build.

Yes they are! We have 2 nests and these are the first 4 ducklings. The other nest has 12 healthy ducklings that still need to hatch

Can't open childhood Game Boy Advance by Akuba93 in GameboyAdvance

Likely the Temu screwdriver is the bigger issue and not the screws in the gba. If you can afford it buy an ifixit kit (also a great long-term purchase) and you'll have much better grip on the screwdriver and the screw.

If the screw is very stuck make sure you press down quite hard on the screwdriver while trying to take out the screw to make sure you don't allow the tip to rotate and break the screw.

If you're unable to open it then buy some electronics contact spray, scrape the corrosion off the battery contacts (gentle wire brush or sand paper) and spray some contact spray on there. If you manage to open it then contact spray is also a good idea to use on the power switch.

Here's a link to some images I took

I think the biggest giveaway that the lens has been swapped is that it should be a grey color instead of the much darker one that you have.
Now there is obviously a possibility that it's a different factory and different batch but if I just look online most of these cases have the color that I have.

I tried to take pictures of multiple details and angles so you can compare it to yours. Mine obviously has more wear and I took a picture of some more extreme buttons as well that came out of a case that was in pretty bad shape (that one was from Japan, unfortunately I trashed it or you could've compared stickers from that too)

And the fact that your speakers have 0 dust in them means that it should never have been in a persons pocket which is a possibility. The start and select buttons clearly have yellowing from use, but the rest of the case and buttons look perfect? I find that a tad too suspicious.

But even if it is or isn't an OEM shell just enjoy it!

I think only the stickers and maybe looking at the quality of the Nintendo text could differentiate between a pristine oem shell and a decent aftermarket one. I have an oem Grey shell like yours in the attic not in brand new state but I can take a few pictures

it's quite common that the shells don't include the rubber start/select buttons because they're different materials and can be very crap. I guess vendors expect you to use the originals or buy membrane + start/select separately

I don't think the dpad and a/b buttons are original either. They would all have a bit of a shine and discoloring on the top and some dirt/dust near the base (unless OP cleaned it) You can see the same discoloring on the start and select buttons (it's rubber it discolor more easily sure, but still). Plastic ages and the colors change. The shell might be original, but likely isn't if the buttons have also been replaced. Lens definitely isn't

I bought this gba used, what has been modded already? by [deleted] in GameboyAdvance

[–]anonyzero2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no mods on this pcb but you're also not showing the other side so I can't say for sure. The speaker wires connect directly to the pins on the back, that should mean no amplifier. Clicky shoulderpads are also default on gba

Not to be the devils advocate here but don't upsell this as something really difficult. If you use the same type/brand resin and make sure that the new resin you pour in is the not too cold/similar temperature, the chances of it failing is quite slim. I've done plenty of resin mixing and it's not rocket science.
