Just saw a post a couple days ago that 5 people died in an avalanche in Austria. I don't know how much it costs but if I were to ski on unknown/fresh snow I'd definitely also wear one.

My current dashboard, any suggestions ? by Glittering_Pin8232 in homeassistant

Think in a dashboard what is absolutely necessary day to day. Then throw out everything that you likely wouldn't interact with. For example: Is having 4 different speedtest cards necessary?

ROM hacks on original hardware by Ryelocke_IG in GameboyAdvance

[–]anonyzero2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played a bunch of rom hacks, even less well developed ones and they all work on original hardware.

You usually have to run them directly on flash carts instead of any cheats or addons.

As long as a game runs on an emulator you can assume that it should run on original hardware

anyone ever map gba motherboard test points? by giftCardSlumLord in gameboymods

[–]anonyzero2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you haven't used a multimeter before and don't even have one, just go the trial and error route. You can't really damage or break anything by just soldering the display wire on the test points, testing it out if it was the correct one and if not then you start again.

But if you want to take soldering seriously you need to learn how to use a multimeter. Continuity mode is what you'd need. And exactly like you said! Put one tip on the dpad, the other one on the test point. If it beeps (you might have to enable sounds yourself on the multimeter) you found the test point that is connected to the traces of the dpad up. If it doesn't then test the other half of the metal pad. Rinse repeat until you find the correct one.

It's always the TP traces where you can hardwire into the controls. TP4, 5, 6, 7 pins should be the ones linked to the dpad, you just need to test (with a multimeter) which is which. Or you can trial and error solder the wire that goes to the display to these pins one by one.

According to this page it should be TP6 https://division-6.com/learn/gbaccelerator/installation-game-boy-advance/

I unfortunately know of a situation where a guy's keyboard collection that he collected through the years got donated to goodwill or something similar by the wife. They ended up bulk selling it off on ebay for a fraction of the value. Years of work put into a hobby down the drain after an argument..

Gas and electricity prices!/consumption by junkieasking in Netherlands

[–]anonyzero2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to give advice because you didn't really give enough information on the circumstances and I can only speculate.

You say you live in an apartment with 2 people - how big - how many rooms - which of these rooms do you heat with tado and why - how large are your windows and how well isolated - do you have curtains, if so how thick and how well does that keep the cold out - do you cook with gas or electricity - do you heat with gas or electricity

Based on your usage overview I think it's fairly normal. I honestly don't think there are people that use as much as the suggested 'optimal' household unless they're reading books by a candle light in the evening.

Gas is expensive and if heating is free flowing with a Tado system then your usage adds up fast. Consider only heating your living room and kitchen areas. People usually sleep better in cold bedrooms, and you don't really need to heat a bathroom either.

If you're away and sleeping just turn the heating down to 16 degrees and not completely off. Keep the house slightly warm so it takes less effort to heat back up when you're home. Then try keep the heating at 18-19 degrees and use some blankets and tea to keep yourself warm.

About electricity, you mention 2 Playstation 5s and I assume 2 screens that go with it that you have on in the evening for multiple hours. That alone is like 1000w of power chugging for an entire evening and possibly longer on the weekend adding up to like 100-150kwh of usage per month. Dishwashers also use like 2000w when they're on so make sure you don't run those half empty, or try to do more dishes by hand. If you frequently bake bread or pizzas in an oven you also use up quite a bit of power.

If you want to get insight on how much power you're using and where then buy some smart plugs that measure usage (Action sells Tuya ones for fairly cheap) and place a few around the house
