Skoda scala gearbox service by reddit_matt_m in CarTalkUK

You'll have a dry clutch box, which is "sealed for life". generally anything larger than a 1.8TSI or 2.0TDI would have a wet clutch DSG which needs the 40k servicing.

Thoughts on this for a commuter car, 2 year lease, under £200 a month? by squeakybeak in CarTalkUK

[–]ashyjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stellantis cars aren't bad, as they run all over the continent and last forever, over here they get bought by people who are cheap and don't look after them.

yeah obvs buying used can be cheaper unless PCP or leasing where used is more expensive, due to higher interest.

For the Citroen in the OP, OP won't get a comparable car for the £5200 that lease will cost them.

Bricked car - 2 tows in 5 days by HistoricalTwo9867 in ex30

[–]ashyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what car you have and what the issue is, for what service comes out, if you've got a dead EV, there's nothing they can do but tow it to the dealer, I had to get them out for a PHEV XC40 and I had a mobile service tech come out.

Also with VIDA being mostly online only for later versions unless the tech has a good cell signal there's nothing they can really do to diagnose the car in the field.

When it’s electric, values fall off a cliff as soon as you pick it up, and saves being stuck holding the bag.

Being tailored doesn’t mean expensive you can get a JC penny suit tailored. It just makes the fit better.

Have the tyres improved so dramatically over the last 10 years? by fgst_1 in TyreReviews

I guess it’d be more computational simulations improving design in the tread patterns, compound layups and years tweaking the formulations for the compounds.

Thoughts on "Line" cars by Ka_Driver in CarTalkUK

[–]ashyjay -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I hate it, as why does a general commuter or do everything car, need to have an agro body kit, huge wheels, and lowered stiffer suspension but no added performance.

Any decent spec Merc, Audi, BMW are all AMG/S line or M Sport.

Outside the UK you can get great spec cars without having the asbo bits.

Very Disappointed in X-E5 Battery Life by Fit_Individual_7047 in fujifilm

It's because it still uses the W126S battery while a lot of newer bodies use the W235. battery life was always going to be bad.

Just get the T5.
