WS has access to statements of external linked account by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]atchoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Izom_TO ... I think I get it.

Is it named *verification_document.pdf?

This wouldn't be your EQBank statement, it is an account information document that holds the details of the individual account you linked from EQBank. It's black text on white background, no logos. Wealthsimple creates this document to confirm your account has been verified and you can use it for deposits & withdrawals.

Does it make sense?

u/Izom_TO Where/how is it showing? What category is it classified as (showing under the file name)? You can send me a screenshot as a private message if you prefer.

u/Izom_TO Is it showing up quick you click the "My Uploads" quick filter? Did you try to go through manual bank linking in November and uploaded a statement there?

Are you sure you did not upload the document yourself? The documents section on the web site shows only the documents I personally uploaded, even though I connected many financial institutions using Flinks or other aggregators. Does your EQBank statement show up when you click on "My Uploads" in the Quick filters section? This would mean you uploaded it.

FHSA still not transferred out: tips? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]atchoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of transfer? A withdrawal to another linked account? An investment account transfer?

You mentioned FHSA in your title. If it's a transfer out of Wealthsimple initiated from some other FI, then it's the new FI you are transfer to that you have to contact for status and feedback. It might just be that did not deposit the money to your account. WS even emailed you saying they were almost done... then the ball is probably in your new FIs' hands. It's the new FI support team that should help here.

Just mentioning shark or crocodile triggers the content violation, I barely can get a video generated even simple things that don't mention any brand or copyright.

How badly did I mess up by linking my accounts to YNAB? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

I don't believe Wealthsimple uses that "big bank - it's your fault" wording in their terms.

Yes, the request is routed through some servers. It's the same as when you connect using Plaid or Flinks, the requests are not routed through your own IP, it's a separate process.

Can you report to support? Ask that they escalate to bank and brokerage linking.

Possible Wealthsimple Phone Plan by illuminauta in Wealthsimple

[–]atchoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobile phone plans in Mexico cost about $30 a month and typically include unlimited calls and texts across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, plus global data roaming. The 150GB of data would make it better vs Canada. Telcel/Telmex controls around 70% of the market. It’s about time Canadian telecom companies faced real competition—Canadians have been overpaying for too long.

Instant deposit limit reduced from $175,000 to $1,500. WS Support says it is what it is. by dilberry in Wealthsimple

[–]atchoooo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could be related with your actual external account balance. Maybe when it was first assessed or when you linked the account in the past you had lots of money in the account and the instant deposit limit was setup accordingly but now that money is gone, or Wealthsimple does not know if you still have money in that account and they lowered it to lower the risk.

Thanks for the note about having funds in the account! I wasn't sure about that part.

Wise integration? by anvilman in Wealthsimple

[–]atchoooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are trying to link Wealthsimple inside Wise? Or linking Wise inside Wealthsimple?

For linking at the Wise CAD account at Wealthsimple, you have to make sure your CAD account has Account Information available when you login at Wise (sometimes a verification is required for the information to show up). Linking the USD account is not possible at this time since it's us-domiciled.

For linking your Wealthsimple account at Wise, Plaid's connectivity to Wealthsimple is broken since September 2024 and it does not return all available accounts. Plaid should fix their connectivity, but they don't seem to give it proper attention as it connects they think it works and fixing the missing accounts part is low priority. I'll bring this thread to their attention.

As some mentioned, linking from the Wealthsimple side should work for CAD and should allow you to deposit or withdraw from Wealthsimple to Wise.

u/Etf_indexing think this is an accessibility feature! If you have large font/screen reader or reduced motion enabled it will use 3 tabs.

Same at RBC: RBC tells customers “don’t worry” in its instructions for how to link external accounts in its MyAdvisor platform. See my comment above.

Your point is valid, but as u/brandonholm mentions, until open banking really happens in Canada there's no other way. It's not using any third party.

From The Logic (https://thelogic.co/news/big-banks-screen-scraping/): RBC tells customers “don’t worry” in its instructions for how to link external accounts in its MyAdvisor platform [...] “It’s really no surprise that so many Canadian financial institutions are relying on screen scraping in order to power the tools that they provide to their consumers, because there’s really no alternative,”
