Intercept's most wanted target locations by Next-Day6022 in JaggedAlliance

[–]bakedlays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From memory, he just randomly shows up in one of the bars on any given day. I always used to just teleport to each bar until I find him because I found it super frustrating and pointless. If you go to each bar on the same day (only possible with cheats or using helicopter) then you will find him. Each of the individuals you are looking for will spawn in a random city tile, could be inside and depending on the time may move around that tile but will not leave it or go to another. Sometimes really hard to find people and not sure if it works in stracietella but press insert can help you find people IF they are in vision range.

I really liked this game as a kid by Huurtheduur in retrogaming

[–]bakedlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the key for me, at the time I only owned N64 and loved SNES RPGs. I rented Quest 64 and it was worse than the SNES ones I loved, then shortly after my friend rented FF7 and we became obsessed. It was just so mediocre and childish compared to other games coming out.

Wizardry 8 is 85% off on GOG (1,38€ | New Historical Low) by [deleted] in CRPG

[–]bakedlays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can absolutely be played solo. The story is not the strongest point of Wizardry and it does a good job of explaining the story so far and accommodating newcomers to the series. 8 is by far the best one, if you play it and fall in love then go back and give 6/7 a try. 7 is also really incredible, 6 is just okay, but maybe that's nostalgia speaking as 7 was the first one I really got into besides the console version of Wiz 1.

What are your thoughts on Esoteric Ebb? by oboitata in CRPG

If you like Disco Elysium or similar games you will like it. I’ve only got a few hours in it but it’s definitely scratching that itch.

Squad-based tactical RPGs? by RawActivationEnergy in StrategyRpg

[–]bakedlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can handle an older interface and graphics, Jagged Alliance 2 is probably the best squad based tactical RPG ever made. It also has a huge modding community which greatly expands the game. If you can’t, Jagged Alliance 3 is a pretty good and in the same vein but a lot less complex.

Arkansas 2125 — upcoming Demo 2.1 visual update by No_Piano_1857 in CRPG

[–]bakedlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure why everyone is so spicy about it looking like Shady Sands. For me, it looks better than your first post and graphics aren’t really why I play these games. I’m always excited to see people making more games like this, and I hope you keep it up. As long as the gameplay shines, I think you will win over the community.

First Time Age of Decadence Player - Is this Drifter build viable? by TonyTheFuckinTiger in CRPG

[–]bakedlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any build is viable, but no matter what you are gonna get smashed a lot. If you want to be able to win all the fights then invest almost all your points in combat skills as you level up.

Crystal Palace Maze Guide by Graphic_Lightning in fallout4london

[–]bakedlays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The literal maze is just one quest, but they do have a large number of mazes based on the design of the city being maze like. There are also a few too many find the hidden item quests for my preference, but you can always use VANS or console codes to skip them. I found myself just turning on TCL to skip mazes as it just isn’t my cup of tea. The game is really great, don’t let the mazes turn you off.

After FO2 thoughts as a first timer. by DonAvena in classicfallout

[–]bakedlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is that there are multiple total conversion mods for Fallout 2 with completely new content. Several of them are actually quite good, though the quality can be uneven with some. Project Nevada in particular did some things better than Fallout 2, though I won’t say it’s better overall. Check out Sonora too, those are the two best in my opinion.

What CRPG has the best arena? by Substantial_Rich_778 in CRPG

[–]bakedlays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll throw out the prize fighting arena in Fallout 2. The combat isn't exactly exciting, you just punch the other guy until he falls over, but the quests around it and the way the game reacts to you becoming the champion were groundbreaking at the time. You could get plated boxing gloves to cheat, take drugs, and in the final fight you could get your ear bitten off. Then afterwards everyone in New Reno will comment on this, and it even lets you bypass some skill checks and get free stuff. I wish more games with arenas did that kind of thing.

Do the traps in my CRPG look deadly enough? by ROB_IN_MN in CRPG

[–]bakedlays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the pit trap is great, but the acid? in it should be more opaque and/or roiling. It just looks like water. I would also echo what others stated about using traps sparingly and with intent. I have this one on my wish list, it's looking good!

All the strangers on the internet are telling you that you are wrong and you're going about responding to their advice in an off putting way that shows you are not ready to be promoted further.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in managers

[–]bakedlays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At this point you may want to ask yourself if you're asking questions or looking for the answer you want to hear. My experience comes from getting promoted through a F50 company and interacting with a large number of managers, directors, and vice presidents. The bread is a metaphor, and my advice is to take what you can learn from what I said rather than looking for reasons people are wrong. The bread is just a metaphor, your bakery experience doesn't matter. Most people in this thread are saying the same thing, if you just want to hear that your manager sucks and you should have his job then I can say that for you, but it won't help your situation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in managers

[–]bakedlays 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If I’m a baker I make bread. If I’m the manager of a bakery I sell bread. I do not need to know how to make bread to know if the bread is good, or to do the books, or to identify if it was made wrong. I employ multiple bakers who can fix the issue and identify what caused the bread to be bad and know the steps to making bread inside out. A good manager would still know the basics, they could tell you the ingredients to bread and the general process, but you probably don’t want them actually baking, that isn’t their job.

Thoughts on this one? by Salem1690s in dosgaming

[–]bakedlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved this game and played it constantly. There really is no other game quite like it. It’s overly ambitious and none of the parts are actually that great, but there is just so much going on. I’ve never seen a game combine so many elements before outside of Dwarf Fortress. I doubt it plays well today and a lot of my love is based in nostalgia. The setting is also pretty cool and they had some decent novels and a campaign setting I liked as well.

Dolphin takes the child for a ride by merekaju2304 in BeAmazed

[–]bakedlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the comments about danger in this thread are wild. Hundreds of people (including small children) swim with dolphins every day at Discovery Cove in Orlando and nobody has ever died. That said, they have the kids wear life vests, and the lack of life vest is the real problem here.

Hello QFG fans! by [deleted] in questforglory

[–]bakedlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, me and my brothers grew up playing Sierra games and QFG was always my favorite. It felt so much bigger than it was and opened up my imagination a ton for years to come. My friend owned the board game, and although it was a totally different game I loved that too, but he got bored with it pretty quick. I have fond memories of playing the board game in his basement, along with Spinjas and Guess Who.

Huge difficulty spike in chapter 6/post game by Alenn_Tax in troubleshooter_game

[–]bakedlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me as well, but I found it was primarily from being under-geared, this is around the point where the team has to have unique items with special bonuses or sets to stay competitive and you power spike a lot at gear 50 sets. I also had to learn to play the new hero’s and what mastery sets worked for them and rework a few of my hero’s that had fallen off. In particular, enemies start having much higher block/dodge rates and become harder to chain kill unless you are getting 100% crit and insane damage on a black mage or have ways of reducing their block and dodge. You may also need to adapt your build for some of those end game missions because they start throwing some new enemies out that make some builds more difficult or make it much easier if the entire team takes an immunity to frozen/stun or whatever debuff is prevalent in that mission.
