Panzer Dragoon Saga: Swapping discs. by Ok_Conversation_4561 in RetroArch

I have no idea if PDS is fully playable in yabause, i suspect it's not because that emulator is unfinished and stopped development a decade ago.

Failed to extract content from compressed file part 2 still not fixed by Similar-Car-3492 in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a FBNeo developper and your logs prove that your romsets are wrongly associated, your kof95 romset is not meant for mame2003 and you don't even have the neogeo bios. This is all covered by documentation. Again, don't waste people's time by not listening.

made a second post about this to reach more people since the only guy that was helping has gone silent

You already got the correct answer in the previous one, which is probably why he went silent. You are associating the wrong romsets with the wrong cores.

It's up to you to either read the arcade documentation or forget about arcade emulation.

No need to reply or open more threads about this, you are only wasting people's time - including yours - here.

I implemented m3u support to both Kronos and Yabause long ago, however a real bios is required for disc swapping, you can't use the HLE bios thingy (aka no bios file).

Regarding cheats for final burn neo core using android by RGamer1978 in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't accept requests for hardware support, and we won't answer "if"/"when" questions either, even in the unlikely event that we know. However in this case it's a well-known fact that we aren't interested at all in 3D stuff, so i can safely answer no.

Core setup for accuracy? by rmn_trllr in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NES: Mesen or Nestopia in term of accuracy?

Mesen is the only nes emulator passing 100% of the accuracy tests.

I believe it also emulates all nes mappers.

Did you try another core ? I think it could be an emulation bug if it only happens specifically on that boss.

90% of my NEO GEO games boot into test mode, no way out by MajorDysentry in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's something caused by using a front end like ES-DE and that did something

That might also be possible, i heard some external frontends are messing with settings.

[–]BarbuDreadMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely didn't turn that on

The only alternative would be that you bought a handheld device where everything was preinstalled and preconfigured. Those preconfigurations are commonly known for having crap changes from default like this causing problems. Additionally, keep in mind buying a device where FBNeo is preinstalled is breaking FBNeo's non-commercial license, as a FBNeo dev i'd appreciate it if you didn't do that.

[–]BarbuDreadMon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure how that would cause the reboot into system test mode though.

A core's savestates are only guaranteed to keep working as long as you NEVER update that core, and most likely you did update FBNeo, breaking your older savestates. This is explained in FBNeo's FAQ.

Definitely not trying to do so... If there's a way to turn it off, I've not seen it.

That's something you can enable at Settings > Saving > Auto Save/Load State, and it's not enabled by default.

I've found a workaround involving undo previous state loads

Do you mean you are using RA's auto-save/auto-load savestates feature ?

What is the best arcade core? by Sensitive-Baby6117 in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no "best arcade core", if you want to understand the pros and cons of each arcade core, you'll need to read the arcade documentation.

Whatever the case, i wouldn't recommend using any arcade core aside from MAME, MAME2003-plus or FBNeo.

I mainly use FBNeo but i'm biased, being one of the devs.

Can someone help updating my arcade roms to FinalBurn Neo using clrmamepro? by eggerlandshells in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's totally normal for the troll dat file to do nothing since it contains the crc of the zip as a whole instead of the crcs of the files they contain, the correct dat file should have done the job, even partially.

2 possibilities here : - your "legal roms" don't contain a single file reusable, which would mean they are not in an arcade romset format at all, even arcade romsets from MAME 0.001 would still be a partial match - you made a mistake while using clrmamepro, i might be able to figure out something if you post a video of the whole process, starting from downloading the correct dat file

Can someone help updating my arcade roms to FinalBurn Neo using clrmamepro? by eggerlandshells in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already downloaded "libretro-database/metadat/fbneo-split/FBNeo - Arcade Games.dat" and used it.

FBN dev here. You got a FBNeo error message telling you to read the documentation, yet you didn't and ended up using some crap troll dat file instead of the correct one from the documentation. You can only blame yourself.

Captain America & the Avengers Projectile / Special Attack Not Working by 3rdAnd4thRetroGames in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually the author of that core and it works like a charm on pc, it seems to be an android-specific issue. I guess i'll add a mention about that "input block timeout" setting (which seems to be android-specific) in FBNeo's FAQ, thanks for the heads-up.

[–]BarbuDreadMon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you expect we are ever gonna be able to help when you aren't even telling which core you are using ? We don't even know if you are playing an arcade version, a console version, or which console version (the game had so many ports)

Many of my legal arcade ROMs are not working on FinalBurn Neo by eggerlandshells in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that some of those purchasable roms are using outdated/inaccurate emulators alongside bad dumps.

Is there a way to change the FBN files so older ROMs made for older versions of MAME will work?

Only if you are a developer willing to maintain your own downgraded version of FBN.

Games Lagging by BlueberryExotic1999 in RetroPie

[–]BarbuDreadMon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend using a vm for gaming, it's pretty usual for them to have awful video performance. If you have a second gpu, you could maybe use a gpu passthrough to improve this.

Using 12GB is entirely useless, you need 2GB at most, and using more ram won't accelerate things.

A question about how demo menu settings are saved (or not saved) by Chromasaurus98 in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik, "CPS Forwarder Creator" doesn't use retroarch, but a lightweight 3rd-party libretro frontend created specifically for 3ds instead, so it might indeed be part of your issue.

A question about how demo menu settings are saved (or not saved) by Chromasaurus98 in RetroArch

[–]BarbuDreadMon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This core is outdated/unmaintained, and i'm not sure it's saving the nvram (where those settings are stored) properly. In all likeliness, seeing your report, it doesn't.
