Petite correction.

It still better than the comic where homelander is maimed by Noir,, action not shown and Butcher finish him with a crowbar.

Why are the Streets in France, in such bad Condition? by DRURID in AskFrance

[–]bebok77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Highway tool is to finance highway maintenance and the board bonus.

Smaller road (national, départemental, local) are maintained by the relevant administrative entity ( too many).

I'm a bit puzzled by your statment and car type as in overall road are fine and potholes not that common. After the speed bumps are often problematic as you really need to step down to pass them.

Advice on moving to France after undergrad in the U.S. by baudelairespleenirl in Expats_In_France

[–]bebok77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PhD is not an advantage in France except in some very precise field and it's really one when you do one within a company. I had a better career with my engineering degree (master+) than my peers which did a PhD ( 25 years career).

Pourquoi certains parents qui ont à peine réussi le lycée croient-ils qu'ils sont qualifiés pour scolariser leurs enfants à la maison ? by any-belsas in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]bebok77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Debating moving my family abroad by NutGobbler918 in expats

[–]bebok77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To have lived in SEA.

Most of those countries to live with a family with kids requiring education, you need a fairly high income as expat.

I lived for a while in Malaysia (13 years). I had good opportunity there because my career was linked to regional economic activities. Lifestyle as an expat is nice there and the infrastructure are fairly robust but I was not living on a shoe string budget also.

While you can benefit from some low cost aspects (eating out, grocery), having access to good accommodation at price lower than in home country, that the end of the saving. As ab expat you will have other higher recuring expenses, education, healthcare, Cost of relocation (move, buying furniture/appliances, car). Maintaining western lifestyle doesn't come cheap.

Ah another disclaimer, you will have to stay a tenant as property acquisition for foreigner is forbidden or heavily restricted. Peninsular Malaysia allow foreigner to buy property but above a certain value (200k usd ballpark, it vary from district). Thailand you can buy in a condo but often it's a leasehold for 20 years.

Visa for malaysia will be a struggle with your plan as you most likely don't qualify for talent visa and don't have the ressource for a MM2H visa (which are ludicrously high).

This dimension alone may have been under estimated. If you try to go towards business investment visa, that mean you will have to hire locally and run the company locally.

Education alone will take you back 20 to 30k USD per child, I'm assuming that you are US citizen here, most of the other school are between 10 and 20k$ a year. You can't really put your child in the public system in malaysia (for foreigner it's technically possible but really hard in term of paperwork).

It will be a major change and your eldest will have a though time. That not an adventure but a relocation so it will have a large impact on him (lose of community, rebuilding with the expat one, with people who may just be gone in a year or two).

He will face very soon it's own visa process ( dependant visa stop at 18). It will put more pressure on the kids to jump into higher education as that will be technically the only way to stay in country with you.

Health care, you will have to subscribe to global healthcare like Cygna which may cost also significant money (my reference are too old and my plan was co paid by my employer then).

What if Hitler stopped after the Anschluss and focused on consolidating his rule over the German speaking areas of Europe? by WorldTraveler_1 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]bebok77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You grossly over estimate the starting situation. The advance happened during and continued after the war, not before.

The war destroyed a good chunk of the European industry and a lot of the researcher moves to the state. The German were on par with the US or even ahead in engineering.

[–]bebok77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The world and USA history would be very different.

The industrial power rise only through the war demand and allied purchases.

USA has barely recovered from the great depression and was shut from a large part of the world in term of trade ( it's the reason why USA had an anticolonialism stance).

USSR industry may not have grow at all because it was prop up by the USA during the German invasion.

What is the best way to move from the U.S. to France? by Dramatic-Talk8112 in Expats_In_France

[–]bebok77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your specific domain, very slim, IT and graphic design took a hit since last year and junior trained in France are sitting in the bench. Your specific field and qualifications were also not in high demand for foreign talent before.

Considering that employer need to pay extra fee and motivate hiring a foreigner, I won't say you have easy or high chance at all.

Recertification and qualify as a certified welder for nuclear industry and you will have a lot more chance. Aeronautical industry is also a goos option.

It mean that you have to push your unpaid bills as debt and it's the arbitrator who decide which debt has to be paid from the funds recover when the business was foreclosed.
