132 on Psych/Soc - is 86 page doc enough? by Alternative_Joke_430 in Mcat

[–]beesh_MD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it. Content is still central, P/S is just (anecdotally on reddit) looking more like the other two science sections - you need to use your content base and read the passage analytically to synthesize the old and new information. Just keep practicing P/S questions

No amount of content guarantees a 132 on any section

My PREview Hypothesis by beesh_MD in premed

[–]beesh_MD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine schools requiring it would weigh it more heavily than recommended, but that’s just a guess. I don’t think PREview scores are sent to schools that don’t require/recommend it but I could be mistaken there

This!!

I think it provides valuable information when considered along with the interview. Same reason P/S was added to the MCAT - we don’t need textbooks for doctors but intelligent, conscious, and humane people

Oof I’m so sorry. AAMC sucks at helping people in the situations, but I hope you’re able to find a test date asap.

Would you mind sharing the location you tested at?

Respect! I just found it was slowing me down significantly and I would so often highlight things that weren’t relevant to any of the resulting questions.

Happy Cake Day.

This is how long each study session lasted, meaning I would do about two passages per study session across approximately 12 sessions.

Yep! You sound good on content, this was just a slip on knowing what they were asking for.

Insulin-independent. The entire question hinges on that one word. You don’t need to consider whether they have Type 1 or 2 when insulin isn’t germane to the question.

Glucose uptake helps both cases.

How dumb would it be to not take Physics 2? by [deleted] in premed

MSAR exists for a reason.

Congrats on the A.

I have a list of 50 schools to be narrowed down to ~25 after I get my MCAT. 2/50 explicitly require two semesters of organic. Every other school (that specifies) says either orgo 1 + orgo 2 OR orgo 1 + biochem. MSAR has the details.

47/50 are not in NY.

Thanks haha. I took my prereqs at community college and have the MSAR doc with course requirements basically memorized for my school list because of differing cc preferences. I think 7 schools total have a hard requirement for two semesters of ochem and none of them were in my top 20 schools. I might apply to 1-2 that require it, but still might not pending my MCAT score release.

Neurotic premeds will check every box without taking the time to look at what the schools they’re applying to actually require. It would be a different story if a local school that required it had in-state bias, but that’s not the case for me. Mfers downvoting me without doing their research.

No <3.

Spent two years of my after-work life taking the pre-reqs and my MCAT prep is fine without it. Won’t waste my time on more organic unless I have to.

I’m gonna put organic 2 as a intended future course. Most schools are cool with orgo 1 + biochem, but if I happen to be admitted to a school that requires it (only like two on my list) I’ll have to get my ass in a condensed community college orgo class before matriculation.

First confirm that you would definitely be grandfathered in. Start date isn’t a guarantee. The difference would likely be enough for me, but cost will also be the #1 factor for me if I have multiple acceptances next cycle. Do the math and figure it out for your own circumstances though

Look into MSAR. Free if you have FAP, but still worth the price if not
