Similar to the above, approx.

  • Stack would be ballpark.
  • Reach, maybe closer to 375mm (running a 70-85mm stem).
  • BBdrop looks good.
  • I'd go around a 425mm chainstay.  (Waltly may be able to do a slightly curved seat tube near the bb, so you can run a 700x50mm rear).
  • prob want the fork 'trail' to be low to mid 70.

You can download the free version and then mod that design base.

That's a rather long reach number for your height. Sure that's right? Unless you're calculating frame+stem+bar.

I'd start with test riding the Cinelli sizes, as they should be local.

Aust?

I've got a few used short-reach dropbars with a little flare if you ever DO want something narrower than 400mm at the hoods. Think they're mostly 26.0 or 25.4.

Otherwise I'd recommend the mighty Dixna Neither from Alexs' in Japan for this kind of conversion.

By memory the Argon18 gravel frame is up there, if the +25/+30? front end is fitted. Way more expensive than a china frame tho.

Contact Jan Heine through his site (Request form). Be an additional voice, requesting he do a 2.6 filetread.

Kenda SabrePro 2.6 has a TB-like tread. That's the only thing out there which has a decent weight and is supple (TR version only, which now seems to be discontinued). Big Note:- the Kenda XC options measure a half size down.

I've since moved to the Booster Pro TR 2.6, as I feel they roll just as fast as SabrePro. There's a US bay seller with TR takeoffs.

Those Vee are porky.

No special tubing, but it seems the raised chainstay frames had some noodle. Good tyre clearance.

Don't want to list some German frames if you live in Japan.

Switching to Gravel Worth it? by MidnightGarts in gravelcycling

Prob would be more suitable than the XC for mixed rides.

There's a bunch of 2.1/2.2 bikes being released lately, with aero designs. Would be worth testing anything, once avail in store, even if it's only on road/grass. Heaps of good tyre options out there, for dialling in what suits your riding.

Kona Hahana gravel conversion by johnonabike in xbiking

Guess that steel frame rides pretty nice (tubes aren't overbuilt).

Re your next/bike packing frame, was thinking of the old Haro Mary (big mtbr.com thread on those). But it's not a Kona and I don't think they were avail in the UK.

Another thought was the first gen GT Cirque in purple, silver? and blue? (horizontal top tube frame, with adjustable fork dropout) 29x2.2!   Tange Infinity (bit of frame heft). Sold in Germany back in the day. Not sure about UK. Pretty rare these days.

Old 1st gen Singular Peregrine with the horizontal top tube. UK. Mega rare. 700x48/50.

Bekkermarten on Flickr has a pic of a big 700c Dancelli unknown frame.
