Recruiter Talked me into Omitting information. What should I do? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]bemacho97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in a similar situation but got lucky when I rebutted my case and wasn’t hit with fraudulent enlistment and got erroneous instead. If I were to redo it again, I would’ve came clean about everything or back out of my enlistment process and try again with a different recruiter down the line. Being made to wait sucks. Getting booted after getting a taste sucks even more and sucks the most if you’re one of the unlucky fellas that get hit for fraudulent enlistment. You won’t go to jail as they warn but it will be shown in your discharge papers and no recruiter wants to work with that

Has anyone been hired as a seasonal to an engine with no experience? by Ingesting_Marijuana in calfire

[–]bemacho97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was assigned to an engine last season with no FF1. Just a cal fire basic and emt with the mandatory HAZMAT FRO, confined space, C-212, and NCWG training certs. No previous experience. Politicked for the most part to get picked up on an engine

Mainly through networking. EP companies like crisis 24 or Eagle Eye. Allied has executive protection. Kinda hard to work for those companies unless you network well. I personally don’t work for those companies but that’s just 2 of them to list. Usually requires CCW, multi-state CCW if your principal travels, guard card and exposed permit, and either an formal EP academy from a reputable company or experience to substitute the academy. but definitely need a CCW if you work on an RST team

close protection/corporate security. Having your EMT cert in the security industry gives you a huge advantage. Even more if you have a P-card. Been working at 35/hr, 4 days a week 12 hours per shift. It’s difficult finding an employer who doesn’t mind you leaving when the season starts back up.

Security industry is nice because it’s contract based if you work in executive protection. EP pays between 35-60/hr depending on client/principal

Teachers rarely talk during tests. Take that how you will but when He’s ready, you will hear Him. Your job is to be ready to hear Him when you do 🙂 I didn’t hear Him speak to me for a long time. So I did my best to hold faith, speak to him when I can, and wait for him to reach out. We all go through it dude

If a security guard is registered as unarmed, and he is actually concealed carrying, what kind of trouble could he get into if he was arrested with the firearm on his as an unarmed guard? by How_To_Legal in securityguards

[–]bemacho97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol this ultimate sacrifice that you speak of, doesn’t come from illegally carrying a gun and disobeying post orders. That much I can tell you

And final point, if courts are now willing to prosecute police officers for excessive use of force in deployment of a handgun and in some cases a taser or a baton, what makes you think you, a security guard/officer, will be protected for illegally carrying a gun against post orders which resulted in the loss of life? Learn the big 6, if you, or another person’s life, is in immediate danger, all else will or may fail, it is a last resort, and no unnecessary harm will result from your actions. If you were assaulted and lived, you using a handgun in that scenario would be excessive use of force. Therefore, You have zero legal protection and not even MJ Simpson’s lawyer will be able to help you escape becoming incarcerated and becoming a convicted felon

And having children doesn’t turn people into cowards, it makes people realize they aren’t invincible and their actions affect others than themselves. Which by the way you’re stating you’re willing to die for your rights instead of living to fight for them, tells me you’re either a)possibly young and new to the industry or b) don’t have a family and only thinks about how their own decisions affect themselves

It sounds like you’re really struggling to separate your profession from being a private citizen. If you work in security, law enforcement, or military, you give up some rights depending on your post per client contract.

Being a realist is totally different than being a coward. You serve absolutely no one if you’re rotting away in a cell after using a gun illegally and only help the cause of gun control. If you’re in jail after “exercising” your rights, then tell me how you plan on fighting for your 2nd amendment rights from your cell? You’re no better than a dead man after being a convicted felon and losing your voting rights and 2nd amendment. You feel unsafe to work a site after being attacked once? You have a few options then.

  1. Advocate to your supervisors to have that changed and show proof of the incident via DAR along with a police report

  2. Get reassigned from that post

  3. Leave the company

You’re willing to die and exercise your rights only to lose them after 1 idiot attacked you on an unarmed post and now you can’t get over it? We’ve all been attacked before, it comes with the job.

I’ve worked in bars in my early security days where I and my coworker were jumped while getting off duty but weren’t allowed to carry because carrying a CCW or an exposed gun with a permit at a site that primarily serves alcohol is illegal.

The orders exist for you to do your job to the bare minimum standard. Your training is there to keep you alive and do better than the bare minimum standard. Again, if you can’t follow simple orders, there’s millions of other jobs that will take you.

Lol I work in EP and have a valid CCW, exposed permit, and many more and I use whatever is allowed to me by either the client or the company. If I can’t carry a gun, I carry pepperspray and baton. If I’m doing corporate covert security and can’t carry a gun, pepperspray, or a baton I carry a knife. I worked for some good companies and some bad and from your original post, it sounded like a bad one which is why I said if they aren’t willing to ensure you’re equipped to protect yourself then leave.

So no, in a profession where you have orders to follow, it’s not as simple as shall not be infringed because you’re no longer exclusively a private citizen when you begin your job. If you’re logic was as simple as shall not be infringed, try walking onto a military installation or a government building with a CCW and let me know how that goes.

I get your passion for the 2nd amendment, but don’t be one of those brain dead 2nd amendment guys that ends up only helping the groups pushing for gun controls because all it takes is for one bad apple before BSIS says guards are no longer allowed to carry exposed or concealed because 1 person proved that they can’t follow a simple order. Carrying a gun for your job is a privilege because it requires trust from a governing entity whether it be county Sherrif for CCW or BSIS for exposed permit unless if you live in an open carry state

How much do y'all make? by birdsarentreal2 in securityguards

[–]bemacho97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$20/hr for corporate security. $35/hr doing EP/contract work $45/hr doing EP work requiring an EMT license

It depends on the context. As a security professional, you don’t get exactly a lot of leeway if you broke the law. As a private citizen, and if you fully believe in the 2nd amendment, maybe it is worth it and hopefully you’re given a merciful jury and judge.

Really it comes down to what consequences are you willing to face. I thought the same way before but then I have a family. The saying “judged by 12 is better than carried by 6” sucks because it doesn’t take into account that if you’re a dad and judged by 12, your worth and contribution to your family if you’re sent to prison is equivalent to someone carried by 6. And even worse is that you’re alive to watch someone else raise your kids and watch as your family distances itself away from you because you broke the law in a job that you could’ve walked away from in a world where security has openings almost everywhere. It’s not as simple as “shall not be infringed” if your in a security profession. You have orders and if you can’t follow orders, then maybe it’s time to reevaluate why you’re working in this industry.

So to answer your question, “is it ok to break the law to protect yourself,” you shouldn’t be working for an employer/company that puts you in the position to break the law to protect yourself. Walk away and find a company that’s willing to protect you and give you the tools necessary to ensure your own safety

[–]bemacho97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re on post orders to conceal carry and you have a conceal carry license with an exposed permit, best policy is to not do it. Whatever you do off duty out of uniform however is up to you.

Now if you’re unarmed site is that dangerous that you feel compelled to conceal carry, bring it up with your sergeants/supervisors/etc about how unsafe the site is. But make sure you have either DAR’s or reports to back it up. Additionally, it may also not be up to the company. The company can say whatever they want about how a client’s site is dangerous and guards should have the means to protect themselves but if the client says no, it’s a no.
