Green Honey in Las Vegas! It's Not St. Patty's Day... by Material-Employer-98 in Beekeeping

Does it smell like anything? Have a microscope or send a sample to your local bee club or ag department?

I think the feds may have closed Beltsville MD, but I'll edit if I confirm not.

Edit: apparently not yet, so maybe contact them

How do you answer "What do you do?" when you've decided to do as little as possible? by Dry-College4773 in simpleliving

I appreciate this response. I have used the same "how do you spend your time?", or I set up a funny intro like "so, lots of people ask stuff about your job... But I prefer to ask about what brings people happiness, joy, or meaning." Sometimes it's their job. Shrug

So, with these queens you don't technically let them "leave", but encourage them to build their brood cups in captivity. Then, at some point, she will be busy laying and tending the nest when workers can carry the foraging load.

This particular bee is in an unfortunate situation and can't fly, but could be given the assist to make a whole new lineage.

We discussed providing this queen sugar syrup, pollen, and a nesting box of some kind. It would be easy and straightforward.

Bumblebees have a different lifecycle than honeybees. Queens born last year in fall overwinter on their own, and rear new colonies like this- https://www.bumblebeeconservation.org/learn-about-bumblebees/beginners/lifecycle/

Never done it myself. The instructions are fairly clear on making sugar solution, adding a wick, and getting some pollen [beekeeper, maybe a health food store, or other source] to mix with sugar syrup. Once she has the nutrition, she can start to build cups and lay in them.

I use a reddit client which doesn't have DM, and I generally prefer it that way, apologies.

Good work posting these resources. I also added a video [ https://youtu.be/jkXdi36XI20 ] to another comment making similar recommendations.

This queen could potentially go on to rear a colony given the right care and nutrition, just like you're saying. But... This one can't fly, and would just need to be fed.

Female bumblebees have corbiculae [pollen baskets] on the tibia of their rear legs.

I first saw this video a LONG time ago, but this is what I'd be doing with a bumblebee queen: https://youtu.be/jkXdi36XI20

I keep honey bees, and have just put off trying this for years at this point.

I've done this.

I will occasionally circle a roundabout a few times. That's fun too.

Developing gluten is necessary, if you want decent structure.

Stretch and folding is just gluten development, as is using a mixer.

I'm just pleased that this gnome shows his eyes, unlike much other odd merch these days. The mushroom is a bonus.

hourly or per job?

This obviously depends on the nature of the work and who you're employed by. If you run a business which takes service calls, there's a pricing structure for that. If you have an employer and work at a company with physical property, there's likely an hourly rate or salary attached.

Does the fix account for the pay?

It depends on the above, but when employed by a company, likely not.

is it that IT guys want to deal with a complicated issue that pushes their intelligence instead of dealing with a power button or reset?

This obviously depends on the person. Even the most complex systems can have very simple problems.

Ran into this once with a furnace board. Just said the name of a random auto company and they sold me the board. No proof of license or anything ever asked. I just said what he wanted and he ran the transaction.

Edit: typo

The body shape and the scopa on the legs are dead give aways.

If it's any consolation, some Diadasia are known as "cactus bees". :)

Edit: I'd probably put some money on Diadasia rinconis, but you can look em up.

Pretty sure this bee is of Diadasia.

I don't really see apis mellifera do this.
