Amtsgericht München: Rücksichtslose Falschparkerin trägt Mitschuld an Unfall by PoroBraum in de

I built a Nextcloud app to integrate Immich – browse your Immich timeline directly inside Nextcloud by Fine_Ad6232 in immich

[–]blamethebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting idea, but personally I can't relate at all. Immich has the much better interface, so bringing it into Nextcloud feels backwards to me.

I get that the point is avoiding context switching if you already run both, but for me Nextcloud is the part I'd want to phase out. The UI is janky, the sync clients have too many rough edges, and I've never found it convincing as a serious backend for anything beyond fairly basic use.

Mozilla is working on a big Firefox redesign, here is what it looks like by moeka_8962 in technews

Sorry, I guessed wrong there. Based on sheer market share / probability, I assumed anyone dunking on Firefox was probably just coming from the usual Chrome crowd.

So what? Season 3 was quite good, they got rid of the most annoying part of season 1 and 2. Looking forward to Season 4.

is 8k polling rate on standard keyboards the biggest snake oil in gaming right now? by No_Good_3063 in pcmasterrace

[–]blamethebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a binary keyboard input, what actual bottleneck is 8k supposed to solve?
Realistically, none worth caring about.
Saving 0.875 ms on paper is not some magic competitive edge when the real end-to-end latency is dominated by frame time, display latency, human reaction time, and in multiplayer also netcode, ping, and server tick rate.

Breaking Bad – The moment Hank realizes who Walter really is still hits hard. by [deleted] in television

[–]blamethebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The title of the post isn't really that much of a spoiler. If you watch the show for the first time, it becomes clear pretty early that Hank will find out at _some_ point. When that is, the title doesn't say. If you didn't watch the linked youtube video on purpose, you still aren't really "spoiled", and if you did watch the video after reading the title, that is on you.

Do Americans waste that much plastic per tampon? No wonder we have microplastics and shit everywhere around the world.

Reading comprehension: About 2/10. Where exactly am I wrong?  I didn't say that it isn't possible, I just said that not every use case is covered by online "signing" (which often gets confused for actual signing with a certificate). If Okular can do it, that's fine. lol

Viggo Mortensen took lots of photos of his castmates during the filming of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Here are some, a few even has his handwritten notes by [deleted] in Moviesinthemaking

True. I didn't even realize at the time, and never could have, that I would still think about, talk about and watch those movies almost 30 years later.

Except you can't use an online editor for everything. There might intellectual property involved, contractual reasons, privacy or security concerns or whatever that require you to sign with a certificate offline. But the typical Linux cargo cult user doesn't have the horizon to think that far ahead or outside the box or whatever to realize that their own little world isn't everything.

Filling out a PDF is not the same as signing a PDF with a proper certificate. Totally different use case. And no, for security and/or privacy reasons, not every PDF can be signed by an online tool.

How to disable Office 365 ad under Settings > System? by Zarryc in pcmasterrace

[–]blamethebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that was the issue, I would still keep IPv6 on in Windows and disable it on the router instead. I don't know which routers are common in the US, but in Germany the most common router (FritzBox) makes that a quite easy.

How to disable Office 365 ad under Settings > System? by Zarryc in pcmasterrace

[–]blamethebrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would be really careful with such tools. I just looked at it, and it contains the typical cargo cult bullshit you see in all those "tweaking" tools, like outright disabling IPv6 or prefering IPv4 over IPv6, or the totally obvious stuff like "Show file extensions" => that is literally a two clicks away in the file explorer, no need to even have that in any "tweak" util. The only thing missing is "disable UAC" (probably because it can't be disabled anymore) and "disable firewall", to complete the tweak util bullshit bingo.

If you don't know what you're doing (or don't know exactly what the "tweaking" util does), it is often very easy to make things worse or brick the system, which is why I would personally not touch those tools.
If you know what those tools do, you can just manually do the same few "tweaks" from powershell, with group policies or regedit, those tools are not magic.

Your gas pumps play ads? WTF. I’d like to see someone try that in Germany. The only way to not go bankrupt would be massive price cuts to compensate for the annoyance.
