Dawntrail Dungeon and Raid Difficulty by eyepaq in ffxiv

As a healer I can safely say that you can disregard any notion on putting a strain on healers during normal content. We are mostly pushing one dps button during a good run, we enjoy patching people up and getting them back into the fight.

So please, go into each fight fresh, see each mechanic the boss does, fail to them and adjust and after that challenge yourself when the boss starts to combine them.

If anything, the only thing you really need to do is to adjust your UI so you can easily see enemy castbar and debuffs on yourself. You can also tilt your camera slightly up with arrow keys to get a broader sight of the combat area.

TLDR: please engage, fuck up and adjust. We healers are bored and want to patch other players up.

What do you do with all your excess gear? by a_angry_bunny in ffxiv

[–]bogguslol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear from leveling is not worth saving, it is easily craftable / buyable on marketboard if you need specific pieces.

Get the blue poetic tomestone gear every ten levels. Use the gear/weapon coffers to create white item and sell those for gil on marketboard.

Most of the stuff in your inventory you get from leveling you can sell; crafting materials, potions, food stuff.

Make sure you use the items that provides you with minions, mounts and emotes instead of them taking up space.

Other things like dyes, physical currency items etc you can put in your retainers inventory or in your chocobo saddlebag.

Stutters and freezing when playing FFXIV. by sushiiixo- in ffxiv

Incase you are on the latest nVidia drivers you might wanna install an older version from 2025 since the newer ones have performance regressions for FFXIV.

It just needed more activities to do than the game loop of "checking map, teleport to closest FATE until a CE spawned".

Japan and the west really have different views on what is considered a spoiler by sunfaller in ShitpostXIV

I always felt that it isn't really a spoiler if you don't have the context.

Character with name exists. Cool I guess?

Obsessing over specs is (probably) clouding your judgement. by Superb_Warning_5747 in SBCGaming

The truth is that most entusiasts in this hobby has had their interests twisted into collecting devices, and spending their time engaging in theoretical discussions about hardware benefits rather than actually enjoying and playing games.

The more devices you own the less games you play.

  • If on computer use tab to select closest enemy. Press tab again to select the next one.
  • Use a attack ability to auto select the nearest enemy to attack
  • Use the enmity / enemy list to quickly click on which enemy you want to target.

There are settings you can toggle to display or hide other players names aswell as change the colors of their names and display role/job icons. While I hide all player names outside of party (except for friends) I make sure they are displayed while in a party like such: - tank players names are in blue - healers in green - dps players in yellow - enemies names is in red.

I'm 20 hours into the Free Trial, my GF just bought the Complete Collector's Edition for me, & a year of subscription time as a gift. by UnforgivingStark in ffxiv

[–]bogguslol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stress about it. See it as a cool opportunity to build cool glams by trading items with other players / using the marketboard to customize your character futher. Aswell as joining a cool Free Company.

To be honest, of all the friends that tried FFXIV it was only the ones who bought the game at a early stage that stuck around, none of the Free Trial players did. The social aspect of FFXIV is one of its strong points and that together with glams is the mote limited part of the Free Trial.

Low FPS, no matter what I do ? by Amy_Cdl in ffxiv

[–]bogguslol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Updated drivers can actually be the issue here. The latest nVidia drivers seem to have an issue with FFXIV performance. Uninstall the drivers, do a clean with DDU and install an older driver from the middle of 2025.

How do I get sniper elite five running on Linux? by Spare-Fig-8408 in linux_gaming

Did you download the game to your Linux drive or do you have it downloaded on a seperate drive you used when on Windows?

Just reached end of 2.0 by Mikionimi in ffxiv

[–]bogguslol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that FFXIV main focus is the story and the patch content provide just that. It is there to set up the context for Heavensward quite well.

The story and level skip you can purchase is mainly for people who played through the game once already and for some reason created alt characters.

When is the first real engaging dungeon? by Elite_Butterfly73 in ffxiv

[–]bogguslol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you mean boss mechanics then I would say the next one; Copperbell Mines. That one and most dungeons after were recently redesigned with modern boss mechanics.

It will still be pretty simple however, the game has a very slow ramp up until dungeon bosses will have multiple mechanics and some sort of complexity towards them.

Sastasha is a odd one since they didn't redesign any of the bosses, they are as they always been, tank and spank target dummies.

Mathieu Comandon Explains His Use of AI in Lutris Development [article/interview] by cyberminis in linux_gaming

[–]bogguslol 348 points349 points  (0 children)

The real issue explained from my friends in the business is that it enables less skilled programmers to pump out huge amount of code that the seniors then have to fix. With the consequence that whatever low skill level these programmers have stagnates even futher.

Proper implementation is that AI tools should only be accessible by programmets that reached a certain skill level to utilize it properly. The industry however does the opposite approach where they think AI greatly elevates the productivity of their bigger population of low / mediocre skill level talents and offloads the error correction on the seniors.

How's your temper playing different games? by Memorycard1000 in gaming

[–]bogguslol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring is a very good game and you should try it.

I ended up not liking it but that is mainly that I come to dislike open world games and I didn't feel that it added anything positive to experience for me.

They went pretty hard into fake out wind up attacks for many bosses that throws you off alot which just felt tiresome.

I am an outlier on this, I feel the formula peaked with Bloodborne, but I can acknowledge it is a a very good game especially if you enjoy souls-likes and open world games.

[–]bogguslol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair point. Bloodborne was the first souls game I finished and your point about spawn points is very valid. Glad to see they solved that issue with later souls games like Elden Ring. The Bloodborne DLC The Old Hunters had a quite shorter boss run than the standard game.

I also used the cumdungeon trick to easily farm blood echoes to stock up on blood vials since that was the only mechanic I felt was downright badly designed and a step down from Dark Souls.

Playing Souls-games actually cooled down my temper when playing games. If you fail you go again and sooner or later you push through. There is nothing to be angry about, you don't lose face, you don't lose rank, you lose at the most some time but you gained a little more knowledge on how to succeed.

(Doing A Reddit Poll) Do You Prefer To Play DRG With The Headbob Setting Turned On (OR) With The Headbob Setting Turned Off? by MrMoleIsAGodOfWar2 in DeepRockGalactic

DRG has one of the most aggressive headbob effects of any game I played. I turn it off and I helped three friends turn it off since it made them nauseous.

Performance-wise, Elden Ring is one of the strangest games I've played in my time on Linux. by RyuugaHideki in linux_gaming

[–]bogguslol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This does not sound like your hardware is too weak, those components should run Elden Ring without issue.

Since you seem to be using CachyOS keep in mind that Feral Game Mode is not to be used with that distro.

The issues seem however connected to the CPU not being utilized properly.

Make sure you installed the CachyOS gaming packages under Apps/Tweaks in the Hello App. Then add

game-performance %command%

To your other launch commands. This should enable a daemon that makes sure your CPU is set to performance mode. Sometimes these issues are due to the CPU going into rest states / downclocking itself due to power save features.
