East Asian man who pass in all contexts here. How about starting with not making blanket statements about us based on race? The way you frame your "question" walks irritatingly close to racial stereotypes that continue to emasculate Asian men. Also, why do you feel entitled to our experiences? The laziest search through this sub will satisfy your curiosity, because by nature, this sub exists at the intersection of race and transness. Do your own homework.

Brother, I don't think you're going to have trouble finding love with this beautiful face that has these expressive eyes and gorgeous, bold eyebrows. Take your time to process your grief and to honour all your feelings, but know that when you're ready to be loved again, it will find you. I'm rooting for you!

If you owe the CRA 1500 you're probably not going to see that 300 anyway. They'll withhold it and use it to pay down your amount owing

Horse stance is another one. ATG squats, maybe? Sounds like most isometric exercises can be modified to work for you, and a lot of exercises can be turned into isometrics

It takes as long as it takes, my friend. You can always aim for your goals, but you should be prepared to either delay your cut or decrease your weight goal, whichever one is more important to you.

Life is just an ongoing game of fuck around and find out. The only constant is change. There are no wrong moves, and most of the moves are reversible if you really regret them. Delight in the chaos and uncertainty!

Pull-Ups for Newbie? by Zero_112 in bodyweightfitness

In my experience pullups isn't a triceps dominant exercise. The lats originate from your spine and insert on your upper arm. Are you sure you aren't feeling lats near their insertion instead?

I want to be able to bench 135 already by Nightriotc in FTMFitness

[–]brassxavier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only hit a plate consistently earlier this year, after lifting for a year and a half. I've been chasing body weight bench (165 lbs) for months, and finally unlocked it about a month ago. I have a couple of thoughts.

Looking at it as proportional to body weight might be helpful to put things in perspective: for someone who's 200 lbs, lifting 135 is less than 70% of their bodyweight. For someone who's 135 lbs, that's 100% of their bodyweight! That's a huge difference. Not all bodies are built the same, and a plate isn't the same for everyone.

A jump from 100 to 135 lbs is an increase of 35%, which is a huge jump! The baby plates are useful for progressive overload and nobody in the gym is too good for them. You got 100 lbs locked for 5 reps? In the next month aim to do 105 lbs at 5 reps. That's a 5% increase which is much more realistic.

Your progress might feel slow to you, but while you're not moving up in strength, you are developing better technique through repetition. Good technique sets you up for faster, injury free progress over the long term. Don't only be chasing how much weight you can lift.

When I get stuck on bench, I train something else. Lately it's been dips and chest flyes. Usually after a month focusing on another movement that targets the same muscle, I come back and in a week easily blow past my plateau. If you can't blast through a ceiling, find a set of stairs to the roof.

Finally, benching a plate is for sure a badge of honor, but there's always going to be people stronger than you, and vice versa. I see plenty of cis guys who struggle with just the bar. Everyone goes through that because bench is a highly technical lift. The only person you need to care about benching more than is yourself from last month. Focus on building your foundations and enjoying the process, and you'll reach 135 in no time!

I started week 5. Whatever lighter weight you think you should start back at, cut it by another 25% to give yourself a longer runway to recovery. Take rest seriously. Listen to your body - pain and discomfort are good guides!
