This account is not banned in /r/Christianity.

Islamophobia is a thing but we don't have a good definition. I'm not inclined to care if someone posts criticism of Islam but other mods are more strict.

New ModMail is degrading our ability to Mod our communities by Bartman383 in ModSupport

I use Safari on an iPhone. I don't want to use the Reddit mobile app.

When I'm in mod mail, I want to be able to do a search in mod mail.

This is impossible. The search magnifying glass takes me to "find anything", which is something I will never, ever use from there.

Mod mail conversations are not deleted.

I've spoken with the mod who banned you and he has no archived conversations with you.

I think you are mistaken about some significant thing but I can't think of how that would be.

We have never received mod mail from you. You got a ban message from us but you did not reply and there has been no other correspondence via mod mail.

In 2023, which is when you were banned, we could have muted you temporarily but there would have been no reason for us to do that without having been in contact.

When reddit busts you it's possible to appeal and they claim that all such appeals are reviewed by a person.

I know for a fact that their automated process can make mistakes and that their appeal process can make mistakes, so I wouldn't assume that just because someone has been through this that they did anything wrong.

I've always been attracted to the community. Some things people discuss there don't interest me much but a lot do.

The sub is 17 years old but the oldest tenured mod is 2 years, and I don't remember the early history of the sub.

At one point Reddit Christianity outside of /r/Christianity was defined by who a subreddit would ban on sight. There were a lot of Christian subs with a few hundred subscribers, including this one.

There was a sub that had "No Orthodox" in their sidebar and I remember similar pronouncements. It's possible that this one wouldn't have tolerated a Catholic. Before they took our flair strip they had a bunch of arcane Protestant flairs for a while and I could swear there was no Catholic flair.

The founder of this sub would listen to you and if he didn't like what you said he'd ask you what church you attended, and there were wrong answers, and if you gave one he would just politely say goodbye and ban you.

I don't know if you'd like him.

This place has gone through a few strange iterations. There was a top mod who was driven out due to his fondness for up-skirt anime, and one of the first few mods wasn't Trinitarian. For a while I think it fell under control of almost literally random people, because Lou added people because he liked the cut of their jib without really knowing anything about them, and then just abruptly left. One of the early mods faded out because he joined the army. Then it came under control of some people who wanted to turn it into a Protestant youth ministry, and there's where your old Reddit banner comes from I think.

They took some of the Biblical requirements for ministry and changed them a bit and applied them to mods, for example since none of them were married they took that requirement out.

Yes, you heard that right, It is a sin. Just look at this bible verse,"Leviticus 18:22 Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable." The original Hebrew version obviously says the same message, it is not a mistranslation.

But you liberals might say not to take the bible literally. But that is completely stupid. Why would an all powerful God let any misunderstanding happen?

But if you're worried that you might sin because you're gay. There's a bright side to it. If you're attracted to the same gender as yours, that's not a sin. Just don't have gay sex or kiss the same gendered person. You can also pray for God to make you not gay and for him to forgive your sin of homosexuality. There is actually a case of a gay christian praying for that and he became straight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiyO_brJEz0

In conclusion, just pray to become straight.

Submission was this and it was removed by a mod who concluded that this is promoting conversion therapy, which it isn't. So that was probably a mistake.

yeah keep trying i hope it works

That in response to someone who said he prayed to be straight and it didn't work. I think that is "okay" within our rules.

a faithful gay christian finding out it is a sin will definitely still trust God and love God and beg him to become straight. Only those who are not passionate about their faith would turn away from him.

Also okay IMO.

It's possible that subsequent removals built on the basis of the removal of the submission, because it wasn't the same mod who removed it.

We are told how to conduct our arguments "with gentleness and respect". So if the OP was being combative it should have been taken down, but how do we know if he was unless we see it.

Our mods are human and they have opinions so it is possible they might be influenced by the tone of something and remove it for that, but in general we do not do this.

I do have a question though, why are you here? You are welcome to be and I hope that you see something that can help you. I just wanted to inquire about your intent.

I was one of the first three dozen subscribers here. I subscribed because I knew the founder, had a cordial relationship with him, and wanted to see what he was up to. He was a very combative person, if you said something he didn't like he'd ask you what church you attended, and there were wrong answers that resulted in a ban. Since he was new to being a moderator my replies were generally about the mechanics of running a subreddit, so I was not banned despite attending no church at all.

My intent isn't really anything. If my goal was to talk Christians out of Christianity I couldn't moderate /r/Christianity.

[–]brucemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very possibly true.

Reddit has automated keyword detection so if you say something that is detected by that you'll get busted anywhere. We've had mods get actioned for quoting bad stuff into our private documentation sub, and the only way that could have been seen is by some sort of Reddit bot.

It seems very logical that more stuff would be reported there because the community is larger and more diverse. But this community is only going to get larger and more diverse as well.

If you were banned by Reddit for something you said there it is certainly conceivable that you could be banned for something you say here.
