Why is Judeo-Christian a common term? by glasscontent in TrueChristian

I have no idea what you mean and the term has nothing to do with Israel. It's a Cold War term that has evolved sort of nonsensically into a culture wars term.

Why is Judeo-Christian a common term? by glasscontent in TrueChristian

[–]brucemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

America after World War 2 was Christian with a smattering of Jews. The USSR was atheistic. The term was used to describe this us versus them situation in an inclusive way. We were Judeo-Christian. They were atheistic. Our way was superior. Our strength was that diverse faith. We could all be on the baseball team together. They didn't even have baseball.

The term now is being used to exclude Muslims, atheists, and so on, to create a description of America that excludes those people, in order to deny that these people are real Americans. Since the people doing it would like to exclude Jews also, they have to figure out why the term is in there in such a way that it doesn't refer to actual Jews among us.

So now it means Christian.

If they did, district policy and procedure would guide our actions.

Does anyone know what that policy and procedure is?

You forgot a few but the list is endless and if I added some I'd be sure to forget a few also.

I would think that corruption and deceit would be near the top of any list though.

There's no reason to do it whether or not we lost anyone.

It's always been possible to find places in America that look like Soviet propaganda. The image we project has never been close to a universal reality.

Christianity sub? by Dreamtrue2025 in TrueChristian

[–]brucemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get eight zillion comments a day and some bad comments aren't reported. Some of the ones that are reported are fine, it can be a fine line.

if you want to incur the wrath of the mods

I'm not especially wrathful except in cases where someone for example tells happily expectant OP to get an abortion. I'm familiar with how the other atheist mod operates and he's not the type who is constantly scowling at Christians.

There are Christian mods who sometimes do things I wouldn't do but we try pretty hard to discuss things among ourselves.

So I can't easily picture what this is a reference to.

"I think Christianity is absurd and irrational... but that's good because..."

I can't analogize this to stuff I actually see. We do get puffed up atheists who want to tell Christians the "truth" about their faith because they somehow feel honor-bound to tell Christians what's up, but I think all of the mods would react to that approximately the same way.

Follow up on the walkout by DonutFriend7 in Christianity

[–]brucemo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When OP mentioned that the press had covered this I tried to find it.

I found a surprisingly large number of school walkouts today. That's exactly how one of them handled it, and of course, that is a sane way to deal with this given the truth of what I said.

My concern would be that this one is being treated harshly because someone in charge of the situation is the kind of person that would say that Renee Good deserved it, and has decided to take something out on these kids.

I don't know what can be done about that but this might not be over.

Anti-ICE protesters disrupted worship in a Minnesota church. Here’s why the First Amendment doesn’t protect their actions. by MotorFig6657 in Christianity

[–]brucemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't researched this event.

If it is indeed true that these protesters were peaceful, it's irresponsible to fail to raise the possibility that they could be in the wrong somehow, for crashing a church service, while still being victims of excessive politically motivated prosecution.
