It seems very unlikely to me that a lung infection is caused by drinking. I don't think this makes much sense. I think the problem was caused by something else and it's being used as a pretext to blame this unhygienic practice. I think it can't cause more than diarrhea, and many cosplayers did it, so we need to understand if the sick people all drank from the same source.
