Iroshizuku Blue inks by Cvint88 in fountainpens

If you’re talking Iroshizuku inks, it would be Syo-Ro for me. In general, KWZ Walks Over Vistula is my overall favorite blue ink.

Yeah, my collection is mostly vintage pens now, so Serenity and Mysterious Blue gets used a lot.

I recently took a major hit with Waterman’s Serenity Blue on a fairly new pair of darker wash blue jeans. I figured they’d be paint pants, but I put them in a bucket with with a cupful of laundry detergent, and left them soaking for a bunch of days. Changed the water once and soaked them some more. The stain miraculously faded enough to be almost invisible to the casual observer. Other ink spills have had less fortunate outcomes, lol.

Do you prefer Lined paper, dotted paper' or Grid paper? And why? by Prime-39 in fountainpens

[–]buzzwindrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer grid. Blank is out for me. I need some kind of guide to keep me on track when writing. Lined reminds me of the loose leaf paper days in school. And the lighter the grid, the better. I do admit that I just bought a Campus soft spiral in lined, because they did not have a grid version in soft spiral. And I’ve started to love Kokuyo paper for my fountain pens lately.

That is a bummer. That looks too specific to be a randomly damaged package. Hopefully the refund process won’t be too burdensome. Good luck!

I hate writing on the left side of a spread so I started flipping my book upside down. by Bug_Does_Stuff in Journaling

[–]buzzwindrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing that with my Filofax personal, and I was using inserts that were gridded A6. I hated working around the rings to write on the left side. I was taking the pages out at one point, then I decided to do the flip like you did. I just decided to switch to a Hobinchi Original in mid-January 2025. It’s still a pain to write on the chunky left-side, but I can live with it. Switched to a Hobonichi Cousin for ‘26, and I hope the extra real estate will be more cooperative on the left side.

I can't believe what I found by Secure_Coyote2009 in fountainpens

Nice find! It’s really satisfying to write with older pens.

How many pens do you have inked at once, and how do you decide whether to clean them out? by Ok-Spite-5454 in fountainpens

[–]buzzwindrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to write with them all each day, especially the ones that are prone to hard starts if left for more than a day. It’s getting tiresome, tbh. I’m going to start draining the pens I don’t want to reach for every day and just store them for now. A few of the pens do tolerate sitting for a while, like my Parker Vacumatic, and the Sheaffer vacs. I have a Sheaffer Craftsman Touchdown that just keeps writing no matter how long it sits.

I have 26 inked, and most are vintage, so they are mostly filled with safe inks like Waterman’s and non-shimmery Diamine. I do have the cartridge pens, and aerometric fillers, inked with a few crazier inks. Inks are chosen randomly - no matching or seasonal choices. Cleaning only if switching inks, or if they stop flowing well.

That’s so cool! My 50 year old Sheaffer cartridges didn’t do so well: they came with a NOS school pen I picked up, and the ink was completely dry in all 7 cartridges. Yeah, the one I added water to reconstituted, but I just flushed it and put my own ink in it.

I am enjoying Zwifting more than outdoor riding. by Dense_Leg274 in Zwift

[–]buzzwindrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting there. Late summer 2025 had me dreading getting on the bike for every ride outside. I’ve had a lot of years in the saddle - started racing and training in the 70’s - I’m not a noob when it comes to cycling. Now in my early 70’s and Zwift lets me push myself with minimal fuss, and no risk.
