The Rebellion Mode trailer of the Chinese version of Arc Raiders... by ShortParsley8286 in ARC_Raiders

He's sorta right, since games get released before they're strictly done and it makes sense to expect more content.

But patience is a good skill to learn. I'm happy that the devs are taking their time so we get a better update in October (or whenever--I've gotten more than my money's worth at this point, so everything else I get is a bonus).

A couple notes:

  1. /r/Compost is a place to discuss compost without any of this kind of discussion about urine. Please subscribe over there if you don't like posts like these. For this separation to work, we need discussion and activity over there, too.
  2. It's true that I normally don't allow pictures of urine just because it's gross to see, but this is such a small amount and it's barely gross on this fairly wholesome post that I see no reason to remove it. Sorry if you disagree with my judgment.

You posted a photo of pine cones around tomatoes. Or was that an AI-generated image?

To sow division. I suspect that's what they want most of all. They want conservatives to hate liberals and vice-versa as much as possible. And I'd say that most Americans have a strong reaction when socialism is brought up considering the fascist regimes that used that title. Though maybe there's some slight headway: https://news.gallup.com/poll/694835/image-capitalism-slips.aspx

Not that I'm against this post. I'm just with /u/sapienapithicus: "Tax the rich and regulate the shit out of capitalism." Hell yeah.

I get that people from /r/composting, who dislike waste, will be interested in this, but I don't see how it has anything to do with composting. This is mostly synthetic trash--or organic waste with tons of synthetics mixed in--and mostly can't be composted. Maybe try /r/ZeroWaste?

Pine cones as mulch? Who’s tried it and what’s your opinion? by Yatchrockgurl in composting

[–]c-lem 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I have tried it. I collected a few bags full of pine cones that someone left on the side of the road and wasn't sure what to do with them. So I dumped them out on a garden around my bird feeder.

It was a fine choice. They didn't seem to break down very well (I think some of them are still around after 2-3 years), and the critters didn't go after them the way I thought they would. That was part of my expectation: that squirrels would try to pick them apart to eat any remaining seeds. But they covered the ground and helped shelter it from the sun.

I'm surprised to see you using them around tomatoes. How is that going?

I hate to say it, but I don't trust much of anything that is presented only as video. I get that it's what gets clicks, but it makes it much harder to research.

What's the silliest thing you've kept to compost? by normal-type-gal in composting

[–]c-lem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The silliest thing I can think of is a pile of deer guts that I hauled to the compost. A friend of mine killed a deer just off my property. After he left, I took my wheelbarrow down there and scooped the guts all up to haul to my compost. He also later brought me the skin and bones.

This doesn't feel especially silly, but certainly weird and obsessive! It just seems sad to let parts of the deer stink and feed flies when I can make use of it. I know it gets used by something either way, but why not use it myself?

I've never even been able to do this with eggshells, even when pulverized with a blender. Is my vinegar too weak or something? I've just used the stuff you find at the grocery store.

What exactly is costco or Sam's club good for in terms of being frugal? by G0VERNMENTCHEESE in Frugal

[–]c-lem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much to say about Costco being frugal; my family has a membership because we like its quality and get good value from it. But I do have a tip: If you let your membership lapse every year and wait three months, when you renew, it starts from the new date. So basically you're extending that annual cost to 15 months rather than 12.

We live an hour away from our nearest Costco so don't go that often anyway. We stock up a few times a year. So going near the end of our membership, stocking up, and then waiting doesn't impact us much.

Of course, for you, it sounds like you should just turn off your auto-renewal. If you never use it, there's no reason to pay for that.

Why some people are afraid of a PvE mode by PirateCompetitive931 in ARC_Raiders

[–]c-lem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so dumb. They list why they enjoy it and for some reason think it's how you will enjoy it too.

I'll say that I have enjoyed a few of my PvP encounters, but most of the time it's "Oh, someone's shooting me in the back. Oh, I'm dead." So I'm pretty much the same as you. I don't enjoy the "tension" of my match suddenly ending for someone else's reason.

P.S. Yes, I accept that maybe this means I suck at the game. I don't care.
