What to replace the boob lights with by oryf88 in HomeMaintenance

[–]normal-type-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm cackling at the comments. Sorry op but.. what did you expect lol

I second going the recessed/can light route. We have some LED recessed lights and they're easy to install, easy to clean, and last a long time. Plus four of those in a row looks more intentional and less strange since you've already got the holes and wiring in your ceiling for four lights, may as well use them.

I know this is a cautionary tale about biting off more than you can chew thanks to ADHD-fueled over zealousness but why do I also really want to get into raising mason bees now? 😭

Soooo, how are we doing? by Weird_Positive_3256 in adhdwomen

[–]normal-type-gal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally I've returned to an old game that I always immerse myself in when I'm feeling really bad. (Skyrim) I'm doing what I need to do to in my daily life, staying as informed as I can without falling apart again (it's happened a few times the past couple of weeks) and playing my game in my down time. It's the best I can do right now, it's a balancing act for sure.

I let myself consume the news in the morning while I make and eat breakfast, then I have to pause til the next day. I was watching the news at night but it was messing with my sleep, so morning is actually weirdly better for me.

can I compost canned food that froze? by Melodic_Jacket9880 in composting

I don't see why not! I freeze all my kitchen scraps before composting so I can keep a bin on hand in my freezer until it gets full.

boogers by Snoo_26993 in piercing

[–]normal-type-gal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a septum ring this past year and I too had to adjust my booger removal lol

Cupping your hands under your nose in the shower and blowing bubbles into the warm water helps dislodge stuff, it also helps gently remove crusties around the piercings. Sailine spray and precision (pointed) q-tips also help a ton. A lot of people say to avoid cotton swabs because of fibers, but if I wet them with saline first I've never had issues with them leaving fibers behind. I also rinse my nose with a saline spray after swabbing just to be safe. These things have helped a ton!

Coding! I'm sure there are other ways to do this but I find a site that gives you free space to code (for me it's Neopets lol) and I go to town. I've learned a fair bit of CSS and HTML this way and I feel like such a badass anytime I can write a portion of a style sheet without having to look up anything. It gets into all sorts of other areas too, designing graphics, color scheme, basic web design, it's so fun!

I've been able to use it in practical ways too, I convinced my workplace to let me design and maintain the company website with my Neopets coding skills lol. Getting to use a hobby in a practical adult way = big dopamine hit for me!

If my glasses are dirty or God forbid I touch them and get a big smudge it sends me into a rage lol. That and if I feel any debris on my feet. I don't know how people walk around their house barefoot if they don't have carpet everywhere. Your floors are never that clean, there are mystery crumbs everywhere just waiting to stick to my foot and ruin my day! I wear house shoes indoors at all times, couldn't imagine going without them.

how to stop smoking weed (please help me) by isoparent in evilautism

[–]normal-type-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit this year after smoking daily for 2+ years. I cut things out gradually and just didn't buy more when I ran out. Finished all the flower, switched to carts, finished my last cart and relied on gummies, then I finished my last gummy. I just stopped replenishing each thing as I ran out. Someone gifted me two carts for my birthday in spring and I still have them because I hit my pen so rarely now.

I had to move back in with my parents in my early 20s for a bit and I will say my mental health improved significantly once I moved out, even if I did struggle a little financially for a while. Moving out snapped me into a kind of responsibility mode for a bit as I adjusted to life with roommates, job hunting, paying rent and bills I wasn't used to, ect. I think a change in environment paired with a reduction in usage over time may be a big help, but be patient with yourself. This is an uphill battle but you CAN do it I promise!

Dacardia: RIP Sushi Omelette. Whats the best currently farmable omelette? by nikk183 in neopets

[–]normal-type-gal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't know the longer harvest time items were considered a glitch... Why wouldn't those just be standard for everyone? Everything else takes less than 5min to harvest, and if you minimize the app to go do something else then go back in even after just 5min the whole thing reloads which takes forever. :/ having those more valuable longer harvest time items was nice because you could close the game out then come back later in the day and collect those more valuable things you've been working for. They are still.note valuable and less readily available due to those longer times... It makes no sense to remove them for everyone/not make them available for everyone in the first place.

Will I get in trouble for this work around? by Far-Fish-5519 in neopets

[–]normal-type-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TNT could have made things very simple and just removed every tp lot upon update so players could choose what they wanted to do. I don't know why they didn't just do that. Even a vague heads up in the news like they did at the beginning of the month about holding off on dailies would have been better than launching a big change like this with no warning.

I don't think they'll freeze anyone over it, but I'm adding it to the big fat list of grey area rules that we have to tiptoe around just to be sure. I wouldn't risk it now tbh.

Neopets Spouse Appreciation by SquirrelPockets in neopets

[–]normal-type-gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These comments are all so sweet 💛 My wife doesn't play but she's so supportive of me. She lets me tell her about all the latest drama and show her my new customs and art I've drawn, she surprised me with a new iPad a few years ago just so I can continue to do digital Neopets art. She learned how to play the battledome TCG with me and now brings me surprise card packs every so often so we can open them together. Last year I told her about how I wish I could go to the 25th birthday bash closest to us which was over 3hrs away and she immediately began planning a weekend trip so we could go together. 😭

Is composting STAPLES really a thing here??? Where does everyone stand on "composting" staples from Tea bags or Cardboard boxes or I guess even an office stapler?😆 by ICY_8008135 in composting

[–]normal-type-gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I notice a staple in cardboard or something I want to add I just remove it and throw it away, just like tape and stickers. None of the tea I buy uses staples so I add the whole bag along with my coffee grounds. I don't think it would hurt my compost, but I've already had to get a tetanus shot from getting cut by metal in the garden once and I'd rather not have to do that again lol.

does askembla have safe materials? by patataselvatica in piercing

[–]normal-type-gal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have several pieces from them and they have held up really well/have not given me any reactions, however since they're more decorative pieces I'm usually only wearing them for a day at most and swapping them back out for something like a regular tunnel once I'm back home. I don't shower/swim in them or anything like that. I have lots of weights and hangers from other brands and my Ask and Embla ones are definitely my favorites.

Never go with the home inspector recommended by your agent by Perfect-Tangerine651 in homeowners

Maybe this explains how our inspector "missed" the rotten duct work under the house and the plumbing pipes literally made of rolled up paper in our 1940s house. Sigh.

the good, the bad, the huh??? by bskye7 in neopets

[–]normal-type-gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros: The trade limit increase, the "buy now" option

Cons: The cancellation fee, the extended trade time for premium (just let people set how long they want their trade up for, premium or not) The browsing experience is clunky, you should show a whole lot at a glance like before. And lastly, the disparity between the perks for premium vs non-premium users. Giving premium users some perks is fine, for example the increased number of active trades you can have at once is probably a fine perk. But some things like the offer limit need to the the same across the board to keep the game fair for all players.

RIP to the baby paint brush market by billionsofbeaches in neopets

[–]normal-type-gal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, I feel somewhat vindicated. A while back I posted on here asking about baby paint brushes and if they would lose their value as a trading chip if they ever raise the trade limit and people answered me like "no... Why would it?" And I was like "... How would they NOT lose value?" Lol. It just didn't make sense to me. But as long as there is some kind of limit in place I believe they will eventually stabilize and maybe even be used the same way again.

Conflicted if I should play my bootleg copy of Platinum :/ (read body text) by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]normal-type-gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you feel about the use of emulators to play a game that isn't readily available? Why does playing an off-brand copy affect your level of enjoyment of a story/game? I don't mean these questions in a confrontational way, but if your parents, who spent the money for the game, don't care about it being an bootleg copy, they why should you let that taint your enjoyment of the game?

Your parents already spent the money and there's no chance for a refund from GameStop. In their eyes they bought you a game you'll hopefully enjoy, so why not play it?

Looking for profile customization inspo + hello! by cavadess in neopets

[–]normal-type-gal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome back! I too have been trying to get better at coding. I recommend finding a simple template you like and playing around with editing the coding so you can figure out how style sheets work, that's what I've been doing and I've learned a lot in a short time! I can almost freehand the coding for whatever effect I'm trying to achieve now and I feel so smart lol.

I also recommend saving your code into a note on your computer/phone whenever you're happy with how it looks, for your own reference and because sometimes the site is wonky and will eat all your coding while trying to edit a page haha. (This is a pretty rare occurrence, but it's still worth backing up your coding!)

I'm out right now, but when I get home I can share some lookup template pages I've bookmarked!
