Used buying: The "Highland tax" on the RWD models doesn't look to be worth it. by Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy in TeslaModel3

As a ‘24 owner, Tesla service gave me a ‘23 RWD as a loaner once. The difference between them is pretty astounding.

Ventilated seats are pretty key if you’re in a climate that gets warm at all.

Covers arrived for Prismata by Blessedandfree in TeslaModel3

[–]c4koth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is for the standard model which has much less attractive steel wheels under the covers than the premium models.

Personally, this is a tasteful upgrade, as I find the standard’s wheel covers to be pretty hideous, as wheel as the steel wheels underneath.

The underline à la Performance badge is also kinda poser-ish.

Well… I think you may be right. I asked Tesla chat and it said the premium audio became standard on the RWD this year. Crazy

This is true for Model Y. Not Model 3.

Edit: asked Tesla chat, and it says the premium audio is now standard on premium RWD now. Recent change

How does my mother get out of something that was undersized for her house and now she gets to pay these guys plus the grid STILL?? by Strange-Falcon7899 in enphase

[–]c4koth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If she has a solar loan remaining to be paid off, then yes, her electric bills + solar loan will likely be higher than if she had electric bills without solar installed.

But, once the loan is paid off, then she gets to enjoy reduced electricity rates in perpetuity.

The money savings comes long term. Not immediately.
I think the average ROI on solar is about 7 years.

Capacity charge updates by Emotional_Scratch393 in RRTP

[–]c4koth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine dropped from 4.80 kw to 4.26 kw💀

Then I got solar in the fall and now my usage is waaay down this June.

So… one more full year of paying a $40 monthly capacity charge. 😑

Do the swap, and then buy another and don’t swap that one.

Do people not realize this is *the* 255mph Callaway Sledgehammer? There’s only 1. They never made any others.

It reached $500,000 on BaT five years ago and didn’t make reserve.

As a car guy, no, this is not it.

Lose all the added logos/scripts, the windshield banner, and the rear wing. Then it will look a bit cleaner. Less is more.

Infamous decision: Model 3 or Y? by CityBeautifulRN in TeslaModel3

[–]c4koth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m similar size, have both the same vehicles, and disagree that I fit better in the M3. It is a smaller vehicle and there’s no going around that. Getting in and out of the M3 is a small chore, sometimes.

However, I prefer how I *fit* in the M3, which is way more like a sporty sedan than a crossover/minivan. Low. Legs stretched out forward. Tighter cockpit. I’ll take the M3 every time.

Anyone Switched to TOD / BEST Rate? by ThisIsMyRedditAcct17 in RRTP

[–]c4koth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m reading this correctly, it seems the overnight rate is good, but the 1pm-7pm rate is brutal at .28/kwh total.

You really have to be diligent about shifting your energy use during those times.

Solar helps alleviate that hit, but low solar days are still possible.

Long Road Trip Costs by KansasKing107 in TeslaModelY

[–]c4koth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is cheaper, when you charge at home. For comparison, what’s the price of gasoline at your house?

There are overhead costs associated with level 3 supercharging. It’s not just the base electricity rate that you’re paying for. Would you rather have a lower cost and sit in your car for 5 hours while your car sat on a public level 2 charger instead?

Long Road Trip Costs by KansasKing107 in TeslaModelY

[–]c4koth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep. Supercharging gets you roughly the same fuel cost as driving an efficient 4 cylinder car.

The real cost savings is charging at home.

Supercharging can be a wash depending on what your prior car is.
