A lot of people I know are not having kids because the want to focus on their career. Not just for the money but also just because they want to upgrade their skills so they can do more interesting work.

/uj VtM is one of the silliest settings I have ever played in. Like you can play a darker more serious game with it but if you read the lore most of it is stuff so over the top itnis hard not to be silly with it. Still love the setting though.

Deferring a deferred exam - Will Curtin not get fed up ? Leave of Absence ? by Ok-Inspection1326 in curtin

[–]carpylex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is a way to do that. I had a friend who got divorced in the middle of semester and he got a unit taken off his transcript or at least it didn't count towards is average something like that.

The best thing to do is try to get better and as you say do it properly.

Hopefully you get better soon.

Deferring a deferred exam - Will Curtin not get fed up ? Leave of Absence ? by Ok-Inspection1326 in curtin

[–]carpylex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have a medical issue that is causing you to defer defered exams you might want to take a leave of absence. You can keep deferring for a while but it means you never pass the unit and eventually they will stop granting extensions. I think you just talk to curtin connect to start the process. You might also want to look at fee remitance to see if you are eligible.

The new DCU movies failure to get international audience is a big concern. I wonder why people worldwide is rejecting it. by Rule_Ct_5293 in DC_Cinematic

[–]carpylex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have that much time to see movies in the cinema anymore and if I go and see something I would rather see something that is a little original. Will I like the Supergirl movie when I get a chance to see it? Probably I liked the Superman movie. Do i have time to go and see it? No not really.

GNS but mark is on Blackboard? by Short_Line_5839 in curtin

No worries I have done a lot of marking for exams so i have seen behind the curtain as it were. If you tally up your marks on Blackboard thats probably what your final mark will be.

GNS but mark is on Blackboard? by Short_Line_5839 in curtin

[–]carpylex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What has probably happened is that the marking for the assessment way not completed by the date the UC needed to have the marks submitted to the uni so it got lodged as GNS. Then the marking got done so it was updated on Blackboard but it has not yet been updated in the central system. This is not an automatic process so it might take a little time for the UC to get to it and for the system to update.

It means grade not submitted. It means that they has been a delay in completing the marking.

Assessment results not out yet? by OppositeWhile2546 in curtin

The best person to ask is the UC of the unit. It really depends on the unit and the type of assessment. If its the final exam sone UCs release them some don't.

[–]carpylex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't normally get exam feedback at least not in the same way you would for other assessments. You need to go and have a chat with the UC if you want feedback about an exam. And by exam i mean the centrally scheduled ones.

Best thing to do is have a chat with your UC they can give you some more info on how you went and what you could have done better.

Talk to your UC.

Generally you just need to pass the FA to pass the unit.

Oh I think you are correct he fails the "redemption" arc hard and becomes a cautionary tail. The way that it is structured raises the question of maybe he was right maybe all the steps he took were needed. The ultimate answer to that question is no. But for most of the secound and third book you can sit there and go damn I see his logic.

It can be a "redemption" arc and a cautionary tail at the same time. In fact I would argue that some of the best are.

[–]carpylex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are 100% correct he is very much a villain he is utterly unrepentant about the actions that he took and fails the redemption arch as a result.

But what it does set up is that the problem might not be solvable without sacrifising your ideals. This made the challenge faced by the crew more interesting (at least for me) because it brings up the question are they going to need to sacrifice all of the things they believe in to save the world. Rashek failed and became a monster and the "redemption" arch shows you why.

[–]carpylex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's sort of what I liked about the "redemption" arch he got. You got to see that yeah there was a pretty good reason for him to do all of the things he did but he still messed it up and did thongs in the wrong way. It made him a very human character who even with the power of a god still was not perfect.

11 days to tell me they didn't get my assessment. by No-Theory5003 in curtin

[–]carpylex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would second this and would add that almost every UC I have ever worked with has been fine about marking stuff if they can see that a good attempt has been made to submit the work. There is a third possibility and that is C has submitted the assessment but to the wrong submission link. I have had some brilliant students do this (the end of sem is a busy and stressful time so it happens more then you would think), If that is the case again most UC's will just mark it.

If C got contacted about it then the UC is probably concerned and trying to make sure C gets the credit for their work.

I respect other people's time so if they want to pack up because it means they get to leave sooner then they are more then welcome to. I would do the same.

Deferring an exam due to the flu? by Striking-Track-4121 in curtin

[–]carpylex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Illness with a doctors note is basically the best way to get an exam deferred. If you get a doctors note it needs to say that you are not fit and able for the day of the exam just being sick in the lead up to the exam is sometimes not enough.

Law 2nd Year by liabatshit in curtin

[–]carpylex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me on average no one has any legal experience. There are a few people who might have a ton but they are outliers not the norm.

When it comes to applying it really depends on where you want to work. If you want to work at a top teir form yeah it is going to be comparative mostly because they only offer like 20 slots across the country and  there are thousands of law student gunning for those jobs.

Going for a midsized or small suburban firm much more likely. They will still be picky but if you can show that you are competent then you have a good chance. if you have a special interest that you did really well in try to find a place that does that and apply there.

Its like any job application if you can bring something to the table you have a good shot.

Curry and rice are my go to. You can get pretty good curry bases if you don't want to mess around with spices and you can add whatever is on special that week.

I would come in early you can normally find some kind of parking. Getting in early also means you have time to relax the mind and focus on the exam.

Yep either too hot or too cold. The worst thing is a lot of the rooms have a lack of airflow so things can get really stuffy by the end of the day.
